@50cent_rapper:

Very good explanation. GUI is merely the OPTIONAL surface.

First of all I want to thank the IOTA-team, especially David and CfB and the Community, for their great work. Microsoft was outstanding news! And more would follow. Many thanks Guys. You are hard working and I really appreciated it. And you know I do my best to take part in this community since November. I know several investors that have invested just because I blogged several times about IOTA since November.

Because of the reasons you brought up I don’t think a GUI is sooo super important. But in my view I would like to have at least the option to make transactions. Bringing IOTA from one account to an other. I would be even fine with a command line option like Decred or Ethereum when it’s started. I even see that a transaction possibility can help to spread IOTA to IOT-companies, because if they want to test the system, at the moment you are not able to send them something. So because of the GUI delay my opinion is we need to work now on an interim solution that at least allows transaction from one wallet to an other.
So yes, GUI doesn’t matter. But transactions matters for me.

.... you can

Thanks David. Can you explain me here or in Ryver how? I thought at the moment the accounts are more or less frozen in Genesis.

Any chance CfB that you will be the V Buterin of IOTA...i.e. giving public presentations, etc?

I do agree that Iota needs a face.
I think one of the reasons nxt didn't take off as it could have, is that it didn't have a special someone like Vitalik.
If it's not cfb, how about David?
Do you think of any more candidates?

Someone who likes to speak publicly and willing to ride over the world, making presenations on IoT events. I think this guy will appear naturally during 2016 year.

IMO V Buterin, as a public face, is one of the key successes of Etherium...highly technical, nerdy, smart, visionary kinda personality (i.e. CfB type - only compliments here). Not that VB is a great speaker, but his high degree of technical expertise brings credibility and eliminates a large part of the car salesman aspect of some fronting other tokens. Maybe someone who develops a dapp using the tangle chain could face with David. I agree that he (edit: better yet she) will most likely appear naturally.

What a bummer about the GUI dev, seems really unprofessional. Anyway, it will all workout in the end, the GUI is only for those who want to buy and sell IOTA and doesn't affect the actual usability. I figured if we have any more good news prior to hitting an exchange, it's really going to take off once it's listed.

Hey dude… I thought we had an "understanding"
We both want whats best for IOTA, savvy?

(I think I know what Im doing)

@David: Where dat GUI at?

iotatoken stated explicitly that he fired old GUI dev.

What it means? It means one or, more likely, two weeks before new beautiful GUI arrives. I see no sense in further kicking David with "ETA-s".

It's obvious !

I have a hunch that this GUI delay actually might have saved many people from losing lots of money. Think about if we had the GUI before the Azure news, how many people would had sold their coins before that and would regret after. Maybe we have more news before the GUI and exchanges. Won't  it actually save people a lot?

Yes, this delay has set the floor much HIGHER because of other news that came in while coins were locked. If we get a release with any other decent news - WATCH OUT!!

While I understand the logic behind that reasoning it's not the best one, if people are going to hoard the tokens the ecosystem won't grow...

From the other point of view if price skyrocket you can get free media attention. Media attention brings you more deals and  ease to close old ones.

Yea but also creates this mental block in some people's head called 'loss aversion' where they will perceive selling at below market rate as a loss, even if they just gained 30x, which creates bottlenecks for getting new and needed people on board. The second a community becomes about price and speculation over growing the ecosystem it is dead. I have warned of this from day 1. I don't think it'll happen to IOTA, but I still feel compelled to keep reminding everyone

Shortterm maybe, but in the long run adoption is key, getting people involved.
