Sure it's a win win because the Wolfes don't really need/use KAT properly. They will move Naz Reid in the starting lineup for him. It's a great alternative since Naz was voted best 6th man last season and improved his game a lot lately.
The biggest factor for this trade for the Wolfes was the money aspect anyway. With KAT they would still have 3 max players on the roster which costs them A LOT. They they have more flexibility and don't need to fear the problems the new cba is bringing if you are spending too much.

With KAT on the roster the salary would have been crazy high.

While it would be smart to get rid of the excess money, it is also true that teams are known to keep players at high costs if it means titles. Warriors paid their players so much that they were paying tax like crazy, they broke over the salary cap levels by miles and they paid everyone insane amount of money for a very long time.

It is even said that, aside from the team value going up of course, the day to day operations of warriors was a loss, no matter how many tickets or jerseys or sponsors they got, they couldn't pay all the salaries and also the taxes they had to pay, and other costs, and be in profit. Thankfully they had a richer owner, who did all of it because the team value went up.

Wolves aren't like that, there is no reason to keep KAT and pay that much tax, because they are not winning anything, it just doesn't make sense at all, they should not be doing that type of loss and that's why they sent him away and got cheaper players to protect their downside.

Wow this is really sad to hear. He was on of my all time favorite players ever. His iconic finger wag is really unmatched. He played during the heart of the 90s too when I think basketball was a lot more hard nosed and difficult to play in many aspects. He will certainly be missed. All those Bulls versus nuggets game I saw them play were truly legendary.

That's why I can say that this trade between Minnesota and New York is a win-win for both teams. The Wolves don't need another center since they already have Gobert and Naz Reid, who are reliable. I think Naz Reid will be a starter this season.

Could be a win-win situation for both teams. That will only depend If the trade improves their game in general or it will become worse.
KAT wasn't just so effective with the Timberwolves roster and I think they don't have much of a choice as only KAT might be the only piece that will get them a better trade offer.
I have a feeling that the Wolves will gonna improve this season with Julius Randle acquisition.

Yeah its win-win situation for both teams. Knicks already tested out the result when Randle and DiVincenzo is in their team they are contender but fell out short. Now they want to try Kat a solid player maybe with his presence Knicks would climb up for better position or even successfully won a championship.

Same goes with Wolves they already tested out the result when KAT is around but there are just extra curricular things disturb and owner doesn't want to pay huge taxes that's why they need to let go. But still Randle and DiVincenzo is great player for them and provably with presence of this two guy Wolves will became more hard to defeat. But we can only say who will win among them if we see the overall win loss team record and this is another thing we can look forward to watch this season.

I didn't follow them with their careers on Villanova but it seems a lot of discussions about them being reunited in the Knicks.

But that's life, not everyone gets to stay in the team and maybe after or during this season another one or two will be stripped away from the Knicks from these Villanova boys.
Same here, I’ve only heard it from the commentators during the playoffs; you can really see their good chemistry. But this big 3 won’t be playing together next season. They played well but just fell short, which is why they decided to bring in KAT...they believe he’s the missing link to becoming champions.
At the end of the day, it's all about business and not the wants of the players to be altogether. If Knicks even Brunson to get traded, they'll do it for their own benefit and sake.

Hopefully, KAT stays healthy, because his contributions will be huge come playoffs, especially with the Knicks already showing strong teamwork and having a solid PG like Brunson.

ctto
Sure he will contribute a lot say he's healthy for the entire season.

A big man that can shoot 3's.

You missed a critical point here. A lot has changed and teams don't just pay a luxury tax anymore. There are critical things that come into place when you go over certain limits, it's actually quite tough now.
The 2nd apron is like this (source NBA):

Quote
NBA Second Apron Penalties:
-Teams do not have level to the taxpayer midlevel exception.
-Teams cannot use trade exceptions created when combining the salaries of multiple players.
-Teams cannot use trade exceptions from any prior year.
-Teams lose the ability to trade first-round picks that are seven years in the future.
-If teams remain in the second apron for any three years in a five-year period, their upcoming first-round draft pick is automatically moved to the end of the first round.

Losing bargaining options as well as possible draft pick deals can be a hard blow to any franchise.

Dikembe was a favorite in the basketball world, famous for waving his finger at someone after blocking their shot. A sad day for the NBA.

That's sad news. Personally, I remember Mutombo's performances already at the end of his career, i.e. when he was in a Rockets uniform. He was far from his prime, but it's worth noting that even then his ability to defend in the paint and, of course, his block shots were impressive. RIP
p.s.
A lot of NBA legends have passed away in recent years.

It is a sad day to hear the passing of Dikembe Mutombo. While his family and fans are mourning, the spotlight of him was taken by the media day of the NBA. And what's awaited every media day is with the hair of Jimmy Butler. He's no longer an emo and maybe this is his full form right now. He came to the media day without any odd hair style but the normal hair that Jimmy Butler has.

I miss these hairstyles of Jimmy Butler.  Cheesy

Sure he will contribute a lot say he's healthy for the entire season.

A big man that can shoot 3's.
There is no need to even doubt the player's performance. KAT is playing his games successfully. You have to look hard to find such a basketball player. Such people are not lying on the road. Yes, let everything work out wonderfully for him in terms of health. This is the most important component. I hope that I will see Anthony make three-pointers without any problems many times.

There’s no issue with his three-point shooting; it only becomes a problem if there’s a weakness inside and he still chooses to shoot from the outside. It's better for a team to have a threat both inside and outside. A great example of a big man is Jokic--he prioritizes scoring inside and makes his team better, and he has no problem shooting from the outside either. I’ve seen him hit plenty of game-winners beyond the arc. It’s really about managing his playing style, and I think Coach Thibs can transform him into a better player--a stronger version of himself.

Yeah, sad to hear that a player with Dikembe's caliber is no longer with us. During his stint, he is one of the most feared shot blockers, even MJ took years to have him posterized and it was like Mutombo was late when trying to block MJ.

As for the hairstyle of Jimmy Butler, it's nothing special in this shooting day, it's just his normal hair and it's not comparable to his last 2 years wherein he really shock the photographers and the whole NBA community with his emo look.  Grin

Dikembe Mutombo, one of the legendary players in NBA history, died at the age of 58 due to the brain tumor disease for which he was treated for 2 years.

In the NBA, he wore jersey number 55 in Philadelphia, Denver, Hawks and Houston.
Mutombo's jersey number 55, who wrote his name in gold letters in NBA history with his achievements, was retired by the Hawks and Nuggets. In 2015, he was honored by being included in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

He was someone who became an idol for African children in basketball.
May he rest in peace.
Goodbye Mutombo..

Rest In Peace Dikembe Mutombo you will truly be missed I remember him last playing on the Houston Rockets for 5 years and being one of the best shot blockers in the NBA it was really the best thing to see while watching back in the days,

Now that Klay Thompson is out from the Golden State Warriors there is a lot of speculation that this will be happening for sure Klay will fit perfectly in the other and after 13 years in the Warriors it is really this one that hurts the most seeing Klay in another team for me I am not used to seeing him in another team but if it is for the best of the team then I will gladly accept it and his new team is the Dallas Mavericks one of the top team right now because of the tandem of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving and with the Addition of Klay Thompson maybe a well-rounded team will be produced with the three of them.

Seeing the latest news and media day interview the Golden States Warriors have a new member and his name is Buddy Hield here is the video.

The finger-wagging. I bet Jordan will be one of the saddest men right now. He liked testing that man's defense back then and even waved the finger back when he dunked on him and now he is gone.
He is also a humanitarian in his country, the Democratic Republic of Congo. He even donated a lot of money for the building of a hospital in Congo as part of his foundation's projects.

Here are his highlights in the NBA.

And this one is a must-watch which was just posted recently by ESPN.

Watching it gave me goosebumps.

Such a sad news to wake up to. I didn't know he had tumor on his brain, turns out he had it for the past 2 years or so and he has been battling it as much as he can. Fighting cancer isn't a simple thing, I lost someone I love very much to cancer, and I can tell you the part where you fight isn't pretty neither.

You end up living a life that looks like a terrible nightmare until you die, so there are more and more people who reject medication and surgery and chemotherapy these days, because we get to see how last days of your life could be a disaster, and instead people just want to leave with dignity.

I suggest don't do that, get your help, look at how Dikembe Mutombo fought for two years, and while he may have lost, at least he tried and as the great defender he was, he lived a life that kept on defending against cancer until the last moment.

Goodbye Mutombo..

One of the best center in terms of defense,  that waiving hands which become popular way back, he deserves the recognition as he played well and aside from that he shared his blessings to his own countrymen,  with that personal battle with brain cancer there's nothing he can do as even he got decent resources to continue trying to cure it when it's time it's time,  May he rest in peace as he will be remembered as one of the good player who played the game.

I miss these hairstyles of Jimmy Butler.  Cheesy

Same.  He was becoming one of the best parts of NBA media day.  Not sure if this means he's more focused this year, tired of the stunt, or he's just getting older and maturing.  No matter the reason, still sad.  NBA Centel posted a funny image of him with a messed up shaved head and said that was from media day, but it was obviously fake.

A good media day.  The focus seemed to be on Klay Thompson and how he's going to fit in on a new team as well as reflecting on his time as a Warrior.

RIP Dikembe Mutombo.

I was able to hear his name when I was so young watching NBA games and playing all of the oldies version of NBA zone in the playstation 1.

He's still young at 58 but this is what life is, we don't know when our this life will be taken back from above.

The ball play was harder during his time and he's been known with the game. He's truly a legend but gone too soon.

I have no idea as well until the news popped about him and he passed away. I think that many of the legends will go through the same thing of not allowing the spotlight to cover them for their battle of illness that they go through.

This big C, we all hate it.
