I'm surprised no one posted this yet on this thread.  About Derrick Rose is Retiring. The youngest NBA MVP. If Derrick Rose hadn't been injured, his playing style might have been like Russell Westbrook. And for sure he can carry a team for NBA Championship. It is sad that Derrick Rose has not won any championships in his career. Remember the super team in Cleveland that didn't work. Wade, D. Rose, Love, IT and James 2017-18 NBA season.

Perhaps the first name that came to mind when "what if" was mentioned was D.Rose. He was a very good basketball player, a very good athlete. Despite serious injuries, he managed to become one of the legends of the NBA.
Even though he never became a champion, we will always remember him and his playing style very well.
The shoes that Adidas released on his behalf were among the best shoes of the time. In recent years, he has been able to do great things in the NBA despite his age. Time passes and we get older Smiley
If by chance he brought a ring with the Bulls when he is healthy, maybe there will be a chance that the management will want him back for sentimental reasons. However, in the East, if my memory serves me right, Lebron and the Cavs are the top team in the East that time and so even a prime DRose, he wasn't able to beat the Cavs. I haven't seen his shoes that time though, so I can't comment on that, but we have seen new Adidas specially ANT where there was a hype back then when he played in the Olympics. I would say though that in terms of performance, I like Klay's Anta,  Grin. Cheap but it's a great basketball shoes for me.

True, there are a lot of what if for DRose, specially if he didn't have that career ending injury. Youngest MVP and on the brick to have one of the best season and player in the Bulls uniform since MJ himself and there's a lot of promise. Specially him and Lebron are in the same division that time and they have a lot of great battles.

What if he did bring a ring with the Bulls, it could really change what is the East during his prime. It's really very unfortunate that he had to earn his career. But at least during his peak, and maybe up to this day, we will not see such player which pure talent like him.

Truly a lot of what ifs for him. We can't just hate this guy and he's one of the players that's probably has less haters than the known ones.

Him being in the hall of fame has got 10% chance with what I've seen. Come on league, he's the youngest player to win an MVP and with that chance?

He doesn't have the swag even during his prime when he was just steam rolling teams as he won the MVP awards. And he has this personality that most of like. Not sure though if he can still make it to the basketball HOF as he didn't have a good career because of him getting injured.

And as far as I know, him and Lebron were teammates, post DRose prime. But only played just a couple of games with the Cavs. But him during his prime? He is really that explosive, he has one of the best first time and then posterizing big men.

Irlts not that lebron and clevland were so much better than the Bulls with rose.  I'm convinced just like other teams they would have made moves to add the right people if rose never got hurt.  I'm not a huge proponent of what ifs but this is one of those times.  Pre injury you surround dude with shooters and rebounder and you habe a championship contending team.  Every contender needs a rose on their team or it doesn't work.

First it was Grizzlies waiving his contract and now, it's just the recent about his retirement. He even posted a cryptic video on his socials.

Well, he doesn't have an extravagant retirement and many probably are surprised with his announcement. He can enjoy his life with his family.

That's what retirement is for or he can pursue other things and continue his love and passion for the ball.
The Grizzlies waived his contract because it's his own wish in order for his retirement to be a peaceful one.

It's just sad that D. Rose will be added to the list of all-star players and MVPs out there that never won a title in their whole NBA career. If only... if only he didn't get injured, it might've been a different career for how and with his age, I believe that he can still play at least a year or two. Anyway, like the late "Black Mamba" said, people retire because they want to pursue new things, and this might be the case for Rose. He will find a new passion or at least a new way to earn money. Who knows, there might be a college team out there that might hire him on a coaching staff.

Whatever the case is, it's a great thing for me that I watched him played during his prime. During his prime where he's just dunking and making big plays over big plays. I will not forget him because of his buzzer beater in Game 3 against the Cavaliers in a playoff series.

That's the advantage, LeBron uses his influence to make things possible for his son and there's nothing we can do about that, Lakers knows how to run their business and they use that edge giving James Jr a decent contract, like what you mentioned basing from his past stats we can't expect too much from him, just watch when the regular season's start and see if there's improvements that he can contribute to his team.
Lebron even had a say to the roster with the teams that he was in. So, obviously the decision of picking his son by the Lakers was already intact even before.

That's because he has mentioned that whichever team picks his son, he'll also go there. On the business side, Lakers takes this but they still have a good roster though.

Let's see how Bronny will be given the playing time there, but I am not expecting a lot from him.

Well there was never really a chance of any other team picking Bronny anyway since Rich Paul (their agent) called all the teams to let them know that if they pick Bronny he will got to Australia and they wasted their pick on him. So LA was the only real landing spot for him anyway after this.
I don't see the team as being competitive. Their best player ( AD ) is injury prone and LBJ obviously is turning 39 end of this year, so you can't expect him to carry the work load over a 82 game regular season as well. Who else is there to carry the team? I don't see anybody.
Oh, you're right. I remember now the Rich Paul thing.

As for the line up, there's the other in the roster that are young and AD and LBJ will be working on as supports to them. I am interested to see how the rookie Dalton Knecht.

I guess people are even more interested on him than Bronny.

Obviously, Rose had a lot of potential, and I personally really liked his style of play, especially his layups when he was in his prime. If Rose hadn't been injured then, he would probably still have been with the Bulls and would have finished his career as a future member of the Hall of Fame. But unfortunately, injuries are inevitable in any professional sport, and Rose has been very unlucky with that.

A massive trade which popped right out of nowhere have been reportedly completed with the New York Knicks acquiring Karl-Anthony Towns from Timberwolves for Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo and a first round pick (protected) via Detroit. As reported by Shams Charania on X

https://x.com/ShamsCharania/status/1839851169968984211

This is my opinion is quite a disruption deal for both franchise, while I'm really curious to see how it will all play out, I'm currently convinced that it's more of win for the Wolves than for Knicks, I could be wrong, though.

I would love to see Karl-Anthony Towns play for the Knicks. For me, it's a kinda of fair trade because Randle and DiVincenzo are good use to helping Anthony Edwards too.
What I am worried about is the chemistry of Karl-Anthony Towns with Jalen Brunson, I hope they will be able to have good plays together.

I was surprised by this moved, specially by the Knicks, I thought that Randle now being healthy is going to be back with vengeance this season, specially on how they go and play without him and go into the playoffs and almost made it. And so the Villanova boys has separated for now, they did play good together in the Knicks, and with Randle out already, it will be Jalen Brunson's team for sure.

As for the Timberwolves, they still have ANT and Gobert, not sure though how Randle with fit into the system with them. I thought that they will go for another season together. KAT is part of the core and I would say that maybe others think that he is soft, but still he did help the Wolves, specially his contribution not just inside the paint, but from outside shooting 3's.

Again, it's just the question on how healthy KAT will be in New York Knicks uniform. NYK is a tough team, physically, so I guess KAT being soft will have to adjust in his defensive skills as well not just in offense. I think the winner in this trade is the Wolves, as they also go one of the most versatile player in Donte, who can play both on the same end of the floor.

I actually like the deal for the Knicks. Towns give them some size and also decent 3 point shooting.
Dante is a solid player as well for the Wolfes and tbh I am not a fan of Julius Randle so NY did a good thing moving on from him. He gets injured all the time and his head often seems to be somewhere else. KAT though also has some issues of course, sometimes it feels like he doesn't take things too serious.

But anyway, this deal can benefit both teams, also financially.
I really love those trades that totally come out of nowhere, hopefully we will see some more before the season starts, even though I somehow doubt it.

You said that he doesn't have swag but then you've said that he's really an explosive player.

But well then, let's just all agree to that and he's one of the best and he had proved himself worthwhile during his prime and it's not easy to get an MVP while young.

And with the trade of Wolves and Knicks, both have got what they want and are winners on that trade.

Karl Anthony Towns is a great player. I’m actually a little surprised they would let him go and not Rudy Gobert, but I think Anthony Edwards wanted to be the number 1 option on the Timberwolves. I’m not sure how Randle will fit in on Minnesota, so to me that is the big question mark with this trade. I’m expecting Ant to have a breakout year statistically though.

Maybe he can improve after that criticizm that being thrown to him, else, it just give more reason to criticize him and whatever he'll do will always be monitored by those people who loves using his name or his dad's name, he's inside the industry where being public gives other people reason to criticize,

it' more on how he will do his best and who knows with those new upgrades technology that's available for him, he may bring something on the league that will lead him to earn his own supporters and fans.
Only time will tell. He is still young enough to contribute to the league. He needs to gain experience, not just use his father's legendary name. He will need to prove to many people what this player is worth. Only then think about fame and other attributes.

How many times have we seen how arrogance perverts a person and makes him much worse. Bronny should not go down this path, as it is fraught with sad consequences.

KAT is definitely a great player, but I feel like he still wants to be the first option on offense for the Wolves. Last season, especially against Dallas when they lost, there were games where KAT wasn’t contributing effectively (he was shooting a lot but with a poor percentage). Honestly, I think that was a key reason for their loss. Now, with Randle (who's recently recovered from injury) in the mix, he can also create his own scoring opportunities, and I just hope it pays off for the team. I still remember how, before facing Dallas, the Wolves' twin towers of KAT and Gobert were giving their opponents a hard time, especially the Nuggets and Jokic.

Maybe Gobert is next until then find another big man. But for them, I guess they'd take and keep the DPOY than KAT. Looks that the Timberwolves are changing the circles of Edwards for his development. Anderson, KAT and maybe we'd see more trades but they'll keep ANT as their franchise player.

I’m not sure how Randle will fit in on Minnesota, so to me that is the big question mark with this trade. I’m expecting Ant to have a breakout year statistically though.
Randle is a choker for crucial games but as everyone is saying maybe it will change and both are winners to their own perspective by doing this trade. It's funny that these teams are announcing the trades first with the media before they announce it to the players being traded. KATs comment was "stunned".

This is my opinion is quite a disruption deal for both franchise, while I'm really curious to see how it will all play out, I'm currently convinced that it's more of win for the Wolves than for Knicks, I could be wrong, though.

Agreed, KAT is very inconsistent and injury prone while Knicks player that they give up is reliable and versatile. I wonder how Knicks will utilize this trade by giving up a lot of key player that was supposed vital to build a solid team for them.

If you say that KAT is injury prone then why they take that risk to get him? Same with the Wolves as well, Randle is coming off from a injury and we don't know the extend of it. If by unfortunate chance, he got injured again, it could be another season ending and obviously, they will lose the capacity of that big men.

I'm not judging by which player could possibly get injured or not, that's a factor beyond either of these players or any other player as matter of fact, I'm inclined towards what each players bring to the table on the court and what it could mean for their new respective roster, while KAT is probably the best 3 point scoring big man in the league, I'm not sure how that ticks the boxes that the Knicks could be looking out for, meanwhile Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo seem to tick the box perfectly with the Timberwolves, while Randle is also an elite scorer, the Wolves would be getting a elite primary defender in DiVincenzo who can also easily get hot from behind the arc, and that's thought process for saying the Wolves are the most benefitting party of this said trade.

I’m not sure how Randle will fit in on Minnesota, so to me that is the big question mark with this trade. I’m expecting Ant to have a breakout year statistically though.

I think that's the same question I'm asking of KAT into the Knicks team, Randle to me is player that could score in a number of ways and his style should easily match that of ANT, I guess we'll see as soon as the season gets underway.
