Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

It's not all about the price, guys. Did bitcoin die in 2014/15?

Whoever is dumping their POS earnings is also diminishing the value of coins that have been used to buy the tickets! Sooner or later it will stop.

Whooa man are you comparing Bitcoin and Decred? Fact that Decred is some hybrid Pow/Pos mix does not make it valuable. The problem is how people and other developers know anything about it? Is there even a 1 K people who have ever heard about this name?

Given that Decred is mentioned here - http://www.chicagotribune.com/bluesky/originals/ct-decred-bitcoin-alternative-bsi-20160210-story.html - and was published in its hard-copy edition, I'd say that about two thousand folks have heard about Decred, albeit a few may have been dead democrats in some graveyard on the Southside.

but bitcoin has merchants that cna actually backup and help its value and make it stay alive regardless of the price, decred instead is onyl an altcoin, with pump and dump and nothign else, without merchants you can't have a good coin

He is. This is the point.. The coin is good, the theory behind it is good, but without practical application, without merchants who actually accepting it, it is only a nice and ambitious theory. I am not expecting webshops to accept it right now, but it would be nice to read about the practical application of this coin in the roadmap or in the white paper.

It is time to buy Decred. The price is very cheap at the moment.

We believe in Decred...Decred is stil a very very young project.

The Dev and his team are very active, Decred is one of the few coins where the team is so active.

But why should we buy Decred? How can we use it except of the famous lock for 6 months? Grin
