According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

What exactly have you done with your coins? I have made nice profit with POS-mining during past months and will continue same way, except also will start POW-mining. I see growing network and lot's of development in this coin.

I tested successfully ticket buying / voting (Mac OS X,decred 0.3.0)
See

(or click here https://s3.postimg.org/u6mvl9smb/fsig_Voting10.png )

And bought some more Wink

(or click here https://s4.postimg.org/quzfwfvwt/fsig_Voting11.png )

Please note when tickets bought (and probably money sent as well) from GUI, it requires the password to unlock the wallet. But only temporarily, and when the wallet is locked afterwards, it stops voting ! Unlock from commandline with walletpassphrase passwd 0 !!

See known bugs : https://github.com/root8/fsigDecredGUI/releases/tag/0.0.4

(EDIT: image share links corrected - http used - no "bitcointalk image proxy error invalid" anymore)

Is POS mining still profitable? Ticket cost is now about 28dcr, how much is the reward?

Of course its profitable. You don't lose the amount you pay for the tickets. Its just locked until it votes.
And you lose the fee of course but its negligible compared to the reward which is about 1.71

Check decred stats site for actual amounts

Check decred stats site for actual amounts

but you lose if the price is dumped like it happened already

right now with 1000 decred you can do 0.1 btc per month(28days) if the ticket price is 44 decred

1000 decred is 2.6 btc, so with an investment of 2.6 btc you can earn 0.1 btc every 28 days, not worth it

it was worth it at the beginning...
