has anyone else seen / picked up on this?

" *Each transaction destroys a negligible amount of XRP as a network fee to prevent spam. In the ILP-enabled version of Ripple, this network fee can be denominated in local currencies. "

the underlined was added (i assume), right before ripple relaunched their website, it never used to be there. this entire section no longer exists on ripple's site. can anyone elaborate?

It means if for some strange reasons they wanted to pay a network fee then have XRP burned then they can pay a network fee in any currency if they use ILP.

From what I read though using the XRP Payment Channel will be the fastest and most cost-effective way for Banks to use Ripple.

Even the recent statements by Ripple seem pretty intent on using the XRP payment channel over other methods.

Ripple wasn't dumb about this, they made it way cheaper for banks to use XRP so that XRP has value.

Soon I think people will use it instead of Bitcoin after being tired of waiting for confirmations when you need your money quick. Time is money. Bitcoin doesn't understand that concept and even then you can use Bitcoin on Ripple and have XRP. There doesn't have to be only one coin with value either. Espescially when you can use any coin on Ripple as well.

You can use ETH on Ripple

You can use DOGE on Ripple

You can use anything on Ripple. It will burn XRP if people want to save money.

ok, that's what i thought - it's essentially a secondary option (just came across this today). i agree, i think people will start using it too. btc is finally moving (trying) toward consensus, but it's such a fucking mess and a little too late.

Example, in my area we have Bitcoin ATMs. There's been a couple occasions I needed to get money out and having to wait over night until the next morning because you have to wait till the place where the ATM opens again. Several times accidentally sending a low fee and what not has tied my money up for weeks sometimes before it ends up back in my account or something else ridiculous.

The good thing is if you like Bitcoin you can also like Ripple as you can transact Bitcoin much faster on Ripple and that also burns XRP. So its a win win. If you like Bitcoin you should like Ripple just for the fact it solves Bitcoins major problems thousands of times per second which Bitcoin can't even do one transaction in a second let alone thousands.

I wouldnt care if it dumped all the way back to $.10. I'd just buy a shitload more and hold. When i got in I wasn't expecting to see any profits for a while. Ive been very pleasantly surprised by XRP and I'm sure it will continue to make me happy in the future. I always saw it as a long term investment.

+ as time passes new people buy slighty higher than older buyers and are willing to pay more if it is cheaper than their entry price.

well well , the tweet was accurate.... Grin

http://www.pymnts.com/news/2015/nyse-usaa-and-bbva-make-75m-coinbase-investment/
Bitcoin startup Coinbase just got a lot of extra change in its pocket from a record-breaking investment round of $75 million — which is coming from some seemingly unexpected backers.

The financial institutions leading this investment round include the New York Stock Exchange, USAA and BBVA, who have tagged along with former Citigroup chief Vikram Pandit and former Thomson Reuters CEO Tom Glocer to contribute to the largest investment to date in a bitcoin company, according to FinExtra. From the NYSE’s perspective, it’s hoping its investment will lead to more transparency in bitcoin processing.

in the near future
With the knowledge that many have agreed on selling some XRP at $1...(no probs personal choice for everyone)...i think the big players will give us that option, and buy us out, if we want
the market may have a small dump back to 70cents roughly or dump bigger to around 45cents....before it goes back up and over $1 (prob very quickly too)......
the FI will begin launching products and services sometime in 2018 and many may regret even selling at $1...
decisions decisions lol

kinda like eth, many sold at $100, it dumped to $60, and now is around $125, very quickly

We must decide accordingly and place our investment in the right track as more and more speculation will come here and decision would be more harder playing in the safe side as always hold when at loss then sell whenever seeing good opportunities.

I agree and I predict $2 by the end of this year. XRP is up 12% since yesterday. We've seen $0.4+ already and I'm sure we will see it again pretty soon.
Also I think most people who bought under $0.05 sold their coins already so no major dump expected.

Mitsubishi Financial Group is planning to launch their own currency called MFUG Coin:

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/japan-mufg-coin-digital-currency-2017-launch/

1. What do you think is the reason behind that?

2. How would this relate to XRP?

3. What would the effect be on the XRP price if many other banks does this?

an ambitious one wouldn't dump his coin at a low price actually. seeing its marketcap and position right after bitcoin, a trader would have to think a hundred times before doing so. its just too huge to crumble in a day hold because those who waits will be rewarded  Grin

About time!!  I am 100% for this.. Ripple needs a high quality wallet for investors not banks!
Banks can take care of themselves.

edit: this is the kind of innovation that results from motivated employees!
