Well its a good thing they starting next week, there are some easy h2h predictions to make wins there, of course considering no safety car or any car break down. Looking forward to it, will add tips from F1 to my premium tips thread. Good decision to open a discussion and predictions thread. I think first race Mercedes is the favorite but we will see.

If Hamilton wins pole position in qualifying then he will win the race. Of course if there are no technical problems.

I thought that they are again having problems with their car again, and according to Eric Boullier, they risked having those reliability problems again because their design this year is more ambitious and more aggressive.

They were one of the teams that had low mileage in preseason testing.

Yes they had reliability problems but in the end , in the final day Alonso managed 83 laps although stopped in the pit by a turbo problem for 5 hours but ended the last day of testing second fastest on the timetable. Eric Boullier is always thinking in negative (I don't blame him, 3 miserable years with Honda) but these are good signs we may see a very competitive McLaren this year, at least I hope so.

I hope so. I would hate to see Fernando Alonso racing on the bottom among the midtable teams in the grid hehehe.

But I reckon if he helps McClaren come back to its former glory, then he would become a legend in the sport, not by winning championships, but by hard work and coming from the bottom, like what he did in Renault.

the first race showed that there will be more balance this season and also Suzuki with Rins and Iannone can be competitive.

This season will certainly be more difficult than last season for Rossi, Dovizioso really become a real threat, besides Lorenzo and Marquez, he could be a difficult rival.

seeing this free practice, Hamilton is already in excellent physical shape, and the Red Bull is very close to Mercedes and is at the same level as Ferrari.
I expect a great season very balanced with at least 5 drivers (Hamilton,Vettel,Bottas,Verstappen,Ricciardo) who can fight in every race for the victory!

The first GP of the season has shown that there is much more balance this year with many riders very close.
 therefore reliability and continuity in results will be very important.
I am convinced that many riders will win at least 1 GP.

Anyway, there was a bit of rain an hour or so before FP3.  And Vettel got first in this one, but the track was a little wet, so I don't think Merc and RBR were pushing it that much.

Looks like a great result for both of the Haas drivers. A shame about Bottas' crash and Ricciardo's grid penalty for going slightly too quick during the red flag though.

^  Yup.  But race pace usually differs especially with mid tier teams.  I could see Fernando Alonso finishing at 6th or 7th, barring any problems with his car.

Yeah, it's surprise to see such solid performance by Haas and Renault in qualification. And maybe it's too early to say, but looks that Mercedes will have even bigger advantage against other grid teams than in last season.
@tokeweed, I don't believe that Red Bull will have more points than Ferrari in constructors cup by the end of the season.
But I think that Ricciardo will have more points than Verstappen, so I can bet against you

Impressed with the Honda and last place  . Unfortunately I withdrawn all my winnings tonight and forgot that there is F1 tomorrow. I would have bet on Mclaren Renault to finish up in top 5 positions tomorrow. Anyway we will see a good race I am sure of it, and another bet I am sure is the Safety Car will be at least 1 time in the track.
