3) BitForce SC Mini Rig: a case & rack mount server providing 1 TH/s, priced at $29,899 This is going to completely decimate the FPGA and GPU industries, if Butterfly Labs is able to keep up with the demand. *Looks at my poor little 5770 at 220 MH/s, and then at BitForce Jalapeno at 3.5 GH/s at 'approx' same price* "Aw crap!"  |

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

If history has taught us anything, it's that we won't be seeing an actual working unit from BFL for some time.
That aside, speculating that this is real: With the reward drop, it only makes sense that the average miner's hash rate will have to more than double to see the same rewards, so this would provide an avenue for that to happen. However, that 1TH at 30G...
I wonder if the delay in shipments has something to do with BFL's plans to announce this, but given history it seems unlikely.

This strikes me as very odd. You could make a much higher profit margin. Why on earth would you price these this low? You seem to have delivered, if a bit tardily, so far, but this just leaves me stunned. Pricing this low cannot make any sense for your bottom line. |

Yeah, I'm kind of amazed that Yahoo just blindly reposts PRWeb's paid advertisements. Including those with mysteriously-omitted surnames. And unnamed VC's. |

I have to keep reminding myself that it's not the first day of April, I'm torn between the fact that it's on a legitimate news site, and the facts that the main site has not been updated, you called it a "coffe warmer" and it has 3.5GH/s at 22MH/s/$.
Other than the obvious wondering when they'd be scheduled to ship and the details of the buyback program, what's the power use?

Maybe they want these devices sent out to as many people as possible to protect the network sooner from the possibility of interference. With all the venture capital they have received they will want to protect their investment and that means protecting bitcoin. |
