I don't know if I'd say it's way better...I believe we are targeting a different user base than the others.  Of course that could change if someone codes in some additional logic to do what the others propose.

stop that currency-war shit! there is nothing more annoying than those folks that strolling around every thread and telling everyone "their" currency is better than xyz. that just leads to attacks from the other side and much annoying noise and distraction.

XEL will be ready way before anyone else and will convince by the technology itself, without trolling and fudding other projects.

+ Stop saying others are worse. We will find out once every player will be on the playfield.

Anyway I do believe that price speculation can and should happen here (not to be confused with WTB/WTS - this should definitely happen in separate thread). Speculation drives topic attention and people to discuss. Speculation is the direct case of good mood, has positive effect on every coin. On private forum this should be separate thread but here on BCT would be nice to drive as much discussion as people want. I've seen that every time price speculation occurs more people get involved in thread, more people want to try coin and see how it works.

Price speculation is one of the best PR tool we have right now. It's nice to see people comparing, explaining or even dreaming.

And as always, keep up nice work all elastic github pushers Smiley

I know that this is of course not of high priority, but in any case wanted to float it again.
If anyone has a good idea how to reliably measure power consumption on a working computer in real time (if this is even possible via software) I think it could be nice to implement it as part of the miner. That way the person offering his system can determine the profit margin he wants,  he introduces his local electricity cost, and the miner calculates the price he will be offering (or at least as an indication where is the cutoff point between profitability and loss due to personal costs).
Again, I am aware this is marginal at the moment, but I can guarantee this is not offered by anyone else and that this is actually a feature that could be very useful for the users if offered.
Keep on the amazing work guys! This project is really impressive in what it is achieving, and especially due to the circumstances involved!

I don't think it's possible. You might partially estimate it using info like that of cpu-z or gpu-z, which estimate the consumption of the cpu and gpu respectively (among other things they do), but in the end, the total system consumption as well as the final consumption from the plug on the wall are beyond the capabilities of software.
Even the quality of you PSU will play a role in that.
It is much easier for you, or anyone to get a wattometer that plugs in the wall between your computer plug and the wall outlet and it reports the consumption in real time. They are pretty cheap too.

How can this be? On Ico sold 3,900,000 coins, and now they will be 100,000,000 coins. Who can explain it?

All ICO participants decided by vote with thier BTC private key that they want to expand supply by factor of X (in this case, 20). So in reality no one get more coins than before (with 5m supply). If you had 1,000 XEL with 5m scenario, after vote you have 20,000 XEL (with 100m scenario). We was afraid that 5m is not enough and not too "trendy". That's all.

If you are asking about 1,100,000 (5m - 3,9m) coins that left without owner. That amount was proportionally distributed to all participants. This was also ICO participants decision.

Don't think so. I had the same question during the ICO, and Evil-Knievel was kind enough to build a tool to extract the private key and said that the same blockchain.info wallet should work for redemption.

Evil-Knievel, could you please confirm this is still the case?

Most of the ICO participants thought differently. And I hope you can agree that if they invested in this project they can decide first how supply should look like.

Unvoid, you're absolutely correct. Price speculation in this thread is a great PR. We can still keep the other thread , although I personally think is boring and useless.

If ICO price was 0,00018000 BTC, but now it turns 0,00000900 BTC.

Thinking out loud here...
Maybe a new kind of emission model could be used for the coin distribution, to give it a growing value over time and ensure stability ?

I'm not upset with this vote, but for future reference, where can I be made aware of and participate in such votes? Is it all in this thread? I will admit I hadn't been keeping up with the project for several months, but this is the first time I heard of this vote. I wish I had participated in it.
