Yes, it counts IPs per day that are unique in the scope of the whole advertising network.

I'm also seeing this issue. Like, I first put an ad on my site which was/is reporting the proper amount of traffic in my a-ads stats. According to a-ads's stats, it has received between 1600 to 1900 unique views a day. Non-unique views per day are showing at 2900 to 3500.

So I thought I would add some more ads to the site, since the first one was doing so well. So I put these other ads on the exact same pages, but something is preventing them from registering the unique visitors. Like one of the ads is showing only 21 unique visitors, but 3100 non-unique visitors yesterday, even though it's the same visitors on the same pages so the number of unique/non-unique visitors should match the uniques seen by the first ad (or certainly be close).

At this point, it's pretty much useless to have the other ad units on my page, since there is some bug preventing unique views from being reported as such.

Any ideas?

What is unique impression?

Unique impression is an impression generated from IP address that is unique in the scope of the whole advertising network during a day.

If a site visitor saw any a-ads banner anywhere today, s/he can't generate a unique impression till tomorrow. If there are several ad units on the same page, only one of them may receive a unique impression (the one that loads first).

I understand now why the other ad slots won't count the unique impressions.

Thanks for your question. Ad unit of type "Site" needs to be available at the URL specified upon its creation and needs to generate globally unique traffic. When these conditions are met it will be placed to categories decided by our moderators.

As a bit of a request there needs to be a better support system for reporting people abusing the system.
Because when you have sites who are bring in large chunks of clicks yet have no content in their site, Its kinda easy to say they are using bots or abusing in some way.

Publisher's sites are being evaluated by moderators. If the site has no content, it shouldn't appear in advertising campaigns by default. Only advertisers that need this kind of traffic and explicitly widen the quality range for their advertising campaigns will get it.

Also advertisers can ban inefficient traffic sources in their campaigns.

I agree that "Report abuse" button might be useful, we have it in our todo list.

when removed and replaced with a different size ad unit - 1 day as unknown

The problem is that they probably load after #58183 and thus they don't get unique impressions. Only one ad unit per page receives a unique impression because otherwise it would be too easy for publishers to game the system.

If you have lots of traffic and your ad units are placed close to each other in HTML code (though visually they might appear apart), then there is a good chance that each of the ad units will get unique impressions and advertisers' budgets. But in either case total amount of unique impressions your site generates (and your earnings) will be about the same, no matter how many ad units you embed. I would say that having several ad units on the same page makes sense only if they attract additional paying advertisers.

although all four were different size.Some ad campaigns run 486*60 some 200*200 etc. , Id prefer to cater all possible campaigns from 2-3 sources rather than adding 1 adspace each for 10 advertising companies.Maybe Im still not used to how a-ads run,yes newbie I confess ,but it would be logical if there was a system in how adding your adds affect unique hits count rather than trial and error it.

Thanks for your feedback. Our service is far from being perfect, but I hope we make it good enough for most publishers and advertisers. We have some ideas about better utilizing publishers' ad spaces, will work on that.

Btw, we just implemented couple new features: search of ad units in catalog, automatic ban of phishing/malware ads, improved geo-filters and IP counters.
