Ethereum: Good alt or stay away?

It is interesting to see all these thread from 2016 asking question about ethereum. Ethereum has come a long way and it has develop to certain level as far as ethereum as a currency and a platform fir smartcontract is concern. I will be holding ether for a long term because this is the onky altcoin that can become like bitcoin!

it's legit information. and the infinite number of forks and chains are quickly becoming ethereum's unique selling point. i can't think of much else that offers this much disaster in such a short space of time.

Ethereum will be forever. At least it is seems so. It has improved blockchain technology. Good trends in price rising. This system is widespreaded  so it can be called quite reliable thing to invest.

Ethereum already proved that is a strong coin. Last week even when bitcoin was falling, eth was growing interestingly. Another point is that every day number of alt coins that is based on ether is growing which brings more popularity.

and yet I have more confidence in the etherium than in Bitcoin. I'm sure that the etherium will not compete with Bitcoin in price, but it's more stable and friends are not several times larger sizes than today.

ETH is really a good progressing alt coin, I myself wanna try to invest on ETH if possible but for now, I do think that it is still slow for ETH to invest, unlike bitcoin it has been incredible remarkable. I also don't have the money to invest and most of the time bounties are paid on BTC instead of ETH

I think that ETH is a slow moving , yet stable alt coin. I agree that it won't be as big as Bitcoin, but being slow and stable has its perks.

Hi everyone, I've been around for a while now.. 
I've seen a lot of posts positive and negative about Ethereum.

At the moment I am holding Bitcoins, but I have invested in some Ether as well.

Now I am wondering, what are legitimate concerns about Ether (except for IPO, as I've already read this in a lot of posts).

So can anyone bring real other issues to the table, to enlighten me (and maybe a lot of other readers?)

 I have tried for months to download the Ethereum blockchain to no avail!!!   If I can't run a core wallet on my home server then it does NOT seem a very good coin.  I would start there for any alt coins... Can I download the wallet and update the blockchain???  - hope that helps.

2017 was the year for bitcoin and I am thinking that 2018 will be the year for altcoins and for me at this time number 1 Altcoin is ETH. Because of bitcoin high fees, people are moving towards Ethereum and it getting good momentum and I am sure in 2018 ETH will get at least 2000$ for sure. This is just my point of view if you want to invest in Ethereum first do proper research then go in it.

Ethereum Is a stable coin because it creates more ICO everyday and people should look at this even though the price keeps moving upward the project is good also so whatever happens just buy and hold this coin..

In my own opinion, altcoins like Ethereum is a very popular cryptocurrency these days and it has a great future that awaits ahead. So if i were you I am going to hold ethereum while holding bitcoin too even though there are lots of good tokens in altcoins I am going to hold ethereum and bitcoin to earn more profits.

etherium is the first smart contract blockchain. although there are some coins that come with the same technology but usually the first ones most in demand. so that's where I prefer Ethereum over other coins. but I do not think that ETH will be more stable than bitcoin. because ETH marketcap is still small so fluctuations will be faster in ETH. but that does not at all make me doubt the future of ETH
