Altcoins will only function as a speculative investment option for greedy people. Serious investors always stick to Bitcoin as it has the best possible chances of surviving.

Of course there are people thinking that altcoins may actually replace Bitcoin eventually, but they don't know what they are talking about.

I haven't been paying attention to ZCash, but I've been following Ethereum for a few years now, and I think that there are many in the community that are underestimating its potential.  They're are either "diehard" bitcoin enthusiasts, they just aren't paying attention, or maybe they just don't recognize its potential....I don't know, but I don't think bitcoin will ever become obsolete as long as it has these type of supporters to secure the network.  Bitcoin and Ethereum are two different type of creatures and there is no reason why they cannot co-exist together.  I don't think the Bitcoin network is threatened by the Ethereum network.

i agree with that bitcoin reputation is really too much good and best and i also think that its very hard that bitcoin be replace by another crypto currency because bitcoin going to more popular and stronger and bitcoin will be live always.

That's the reality mate, we have seen it in our very eyes that as of this moment bitcoin is increasing while altcoins are just steady and most of them are decreasing its value as well. When bitcoin rise, the loyalists of alts will automatically jump to bitcoin.

Zcash is very historical its the most hyped coins in the history of cryptocurrency. It hyped at 200btc each then go down at 6 btc then go down more to 0.04 btc. Its not stable. Ethereum on the other hand is a good coin but it split into two ethereum and ethereum classic. This two coins cannot replace bitcoin. At this point of time no coin can replace bitcoin, but if there is I will vote for monero since it is very similar to bitcoin and Pesobit because I love it.

Zcash is very historical its the most hyped coins in the history of cryptocurrency. It hyped at 200btc each then go down at 6 btc then go down more to 0.04 btc. Its not stable. The volume at 2000 bitcoin was too small. It is not very significant.

99% chance that bitcoin will be the master in cybercoin space, because of the wide adoption and big interests already established that it is virtually impossible to change. That 1% could come with some really fatal issues which is not very probable.

Unless some kind of hole is found in the code or in the encryption protocol bitcoin will keep being the top cryptocurrency to use, some coins are very interesting like monero but bitcoin has a massive advantage already that is difficult to overcome.

Value?  How about features, speed, cost, etc?  Bitcoin can't even scale or add segwit cause of all the infighting.

There is definitely an opportunity for another coin to come in and compete as a daily use currency.

It won't be replaced, but Monero will probably start an interesting rally with it. We're looking at a very big increase in such a short time: 25% in one day. A few months ago it had reached 0.02BTC. I'm wondering whether the price will get close to Bitcoin or not soon - especially with February coming, when a huge black market will be opened again for Monero after it's been closed this autumn!

Not really, Bitcoin will be bitcoin and bitcoin will be the mother of them all. There is no chance of getting replaced by another crypto-currency because we can see the progress of bitcoin on its price and it seems that there is no chance to be replaced.
If another crypto-currency will replaced bitcoin and i can say that it will be a long time before it happens maybe if the bitcoin supply will be out of stock or the bitcoin network will be worse then it would force other investors to move to another coin that satisfied their needs.

I've been looking at that monero all the time but upon reading the news that it was involve to a exit scam in the dark net I stopped, I lose my interest on it already. As of now, I can't see that bitcoin will ever be replaced by some of any crypto currency because almost all of those alt coins came from very the same idea of bitcoin.

Altcoins arent a copy cat of bitcoin, otherwise they would have a good value, most of the altcoins has less problems to handle then bitcoin, but the question is that bitcoin were the first, and is getting massive investment, from big miners, as well investors, soo those people wont let bitcoin die from one moment to another. Bitcoin is good and always trying to improve but you just never know what will come out next, 2050 is a long way away.

With all the infighting we do hear about a new coin could easily slip in if it was good enough and not just another crappy alt coin that promises the world.

I think one of the main problems is that a lot of the new comers to bitcoin don't really care too much about the privacy features that bitcoin offer, most of the newbies just see it as a new bank i think.

It is interesting, if you asked this 2 years ago at the top of the GAW hype when they were selling actual machines and had a very very large customer base, I would of said a coin developed for mining at that time by GAW may of rivalled BTC. However I say now no coin will rival it, to many next best coins have turned out to be scams.
