Eventually in the future, bitcoin will be replaced by another crypto currency but not soon. Bitcoin will be available till 2023 for mining. After that bitcoin will remain the costliest crypto currency. However, those who have already set up their expensive mining system, what will they do?
They will obviously find another crypto currency to mine and that crypto currency will become the next big thing after bitcoin. Everything in life, has a expiry date and bitcoin is no exception. But that is not going to happen anytime soon.
You will have to explain some details. Why mining will only be available until 2023? Because we should still have a good 100 years until no new blocks are mined. Also the fees will take over as the reward. Altcoins use different algorithms, with ASCIs it is not possible to switch to the next best coin.

Yeah, In real life everything has an expiry date and bitcoin does not have exception on that. Bitcoin supply is very limited and year after years the supply are being lessen by the investors and the miners, so after at least 4-5 years we will experience some changes on bitcoin because those who will get benefits in bitcoin for long term are those investors and miners who invested a lot of money. After 10 years bitcoin will face its best enemy and the miners might transfer to another cryptocurrency because of the volume of users, money and other kind of small issues that can cause for them to not earn a decent amount.

That is the statement of the majority and create some good demand to make it happen. If there is a specific altcoin that will replace bitcoin, we cannot ascertain what it is due to their huge number.

Bitcoin is getting a lot issues recently around the confirmations i wouldnt be surprised if some investors switch to other altcoin that hasnt such delay to confirm the transactions as bitcoin is having. Without any upgrade this will keep happening, and looks like miner farms doesnt agree at all wich is the best thing to follow. Its getting boring already make and be at bitcoin with those issue not handle yet, how long can bitcoin survive if bitcoin dont upgrade into better system?
I do not think so. I am sure that bitcoin will never replaced by another crypto-currency, even etherium could not replace bitcoin. Because most of people are thrust to bitcoin. Altcoin could be dead anytime. As mentioned bitcoin will never be replaced by bitcoin. Few coins similar to eth, monero was found with high growth in user as well technology. But it has not come close in terms of usage, acceptance and price volatility. So bitcoin never bows down to other Altcoins.

Ethereum has provided a lot of benefits and advance technology to us and if we know how to use it appropriately, it can help us in many ways I think many people make the same mistake as you. ETH is the second biggest in market cap and known, so people see it as first alternative. But ETH is not and does not want to be an alternative. Just like you would not call a car an alternative to a 18 wheeler. They are both cars/crypto currencies, but serve a different purpose. And you and many other probably do not know which one could replace Bitcoin, because you have no insight into the technical aspect of every coin.

Gold has never been replaced as a store of value and probably never will be by another look alike product. So i dont think BTC will ever be second, but other Altcoins will be used for everyday shopping or to use Ethereum platform or Lisk platform etc. World needs more than one digital coin.

I agree with you on the latter, but i see it is a bit of an unfair to compare gold and Bitcoin in this instance. Since Bitcoin could have an technical issue one day and lose a lot of its value, while another crypto might be just fine and surpass Bitcoin. This can not happen with gold. Gold could only crash if we found new cheap ways to create it or find a big and unexpected amount. So i see Bitcoin failing as the more likely scenario of those two.

Yeah, this is how things work, bitcoin won't be replaced and if it does, the possibility is very low. Bitcoin is just gonna hanging round among other cryptocurrencies and it may not be used as much as now in the future but one thing for sure is that it won't die out, at least for a long time.

If 99% of miners leave today, tomorrow 10x more people will be confirming transactions on their personal computers for 10x less reward, or for no reward at all, just for fees alone or out of necessity to support the Bitcoin network ticking. Miners have usurped the power which they simply shouldn't have in the first place just because they are totally "fungible"

Ethereum, monero, dash, zcash, etc, they all have the ability to knock down Bitcoin and sweep it away on this planet. Cryptocurrency is the new field and most of the people here only know about Bitcoin. You have to wait for a several years and understand that Bitcoin is not as powerful as you think

The people that have used the first coins probably didn't even know that it'll be replaced by something so complex like bitcoin. All the coins that you've mentioned surely can knock down bitcoin but apparently they don't, because their force is much weaker than bitcoins. The number of users/supporters is what keeps bitcoin as the best cryptocurrency ever. But of course all of these can be changed over time just like how the first fiat currency was replaced.

Bitcoin is the biggest because the community is strong, and it maintains a lot of its respect from the rest of the world because of a lot of the stunning achievements it has accomplished, such as being valued over $1k, being relatively popular with some online financial systems and so, among other things. It's not like other cryptos can just show up, even if they are better.

This is a really bad attitude. Not making progress because you are satisfied. Standing still is like going backwards in the modern world. It is like saying to not improve Bitcoin further because it works. Almost like now. We are not improving Bitcoins ability to scale and is only a question of time until this will bring Bitcoin down or some altcoin will surpass Bitcoin.

But if we lose some of the hash power isn't bitcoin network gonna choke? How fast it takes for mining difficulty to adjust? With less hashing power we will have security problems and bitcoin could be targeted and become a victim of hostile takeover. Miners are abusing their position but at the same time they are guarantor of network security.

To believe (e.g. to be certain) something like that does not make rational sense. To say that is a statistic probability makes much more sense. However, this has been discussed over and over again. In order for the cryptocurrency space to thrive, it would be most suitable if there were multiple coins at the top and not just one (as currently Bitcoin is). Nobody can say that either one will happen for sure; they would only be speculating.
Bitcoin for now is upgrading and its value increases dramatically so thinking that bitcoin would be replaced by other crypto-currencys thats imposibble for know. We all know that bitcoins value is depending to the support of people so many people continue to choose bitcoin than any other crypto-currency. That is the fact and when bitcoin becomes more popular many buisness will be open on accepting bitcoin so it may be the future ot bitcoin. It cant be replaced by any other. Because bitcoin is just starting to grow more.
