First post! I've been lurking the bitcoin community for a few months and have been mining with a dedicated rig of 5830's for a month now. Looking to make these forums a place I frequent.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Hi, my name is Eloque, i am currently brand new here, but I've been doing bitcoin for about a month now.

My background is that of a banker, yes, the old fashioned type that uses fiat currency. I rolled into that via my IT background, math people turn into bankers, go figure Smiley

Right now I am working on two distinct Bitcoin project, both kinda hobby, investigative, first a payment module for a website. Yes, wanting to accept bitcoins to sell mead. Second, some friends and I are working on a bitcoin based blackjack/roulette site. I know, a few of those already exist, but competition is good and finding out more about if BTC will work is better.

Hello I am a newbie.

I've been interested in bit coins since they were 1.00 usd = 1 BTC but I did  not make a move. But now I'm interested in purchasing things online with BTC.

Hey -- I started reading about bitcoin last week.  I had two old GTX 460s lying around so I got them mining... boo... so I decided I'd grab a couple of used ATI 5870s and a boxfan heh...joined a mining pool and I've been mining for about 24hrs now.  @ 800Mhash

After 24hrs I only have 0.2 BTC ... 24hr luck of -43.1% Sad

That said... this is fun and I love the idea of a virtual currency.

Greetings. I think digital currency will force governments to the gold standard as competition, like how filesharing forced publishers to change their ways.

Also please stock up on food because prices are going up. /public service announcement off

Im Jacob.  I love the idea of bitcoin but Im a bit of a layman when it comes to computer coding schemes, but I do get the concept of how torrents work.  The main reason why Im interested in bitcoin is political to be honest, no idea if its typical of most people here or if there is a wide variety in opinion, but Im assuming most people here are skeptical of fiat paper.  I have tons of questions, technical and philosophical.

Hi Everyone,

My partners and I will be launching a Bitcoin Services network in a few weeks.  We are currently internally testing and will be launching with an Options exchange and a USD/BTC exchange in late August or early September.

Over the weeks following our launch, we will be launching a Merchant Services API/Platform alongside a few other exciting services.

If you're interested in beta-testing or even just getting a sneak peek at the website, feel free to contact me (once I have the PM function in a few hours), and I will be more than happy to chat with any of you.

I look forward to getting to know a lot of you over the coming weeks and months.

Cheers.
