for the recommended 470 question....well I suppose an 8 pin vs 6 pin is better, although since apparently the pci watt load is pretty steady it doesnt make much difference.  So go with what the memory freq is.  higher is better.  so sapphire nitro looks to be the best bet.

meh imo xfx 390s are pretty rock solid.  Dont know about 470 though.  I think they have a normal one, and a black edition one, which costs more, whatever that means

XFX is garbage.

Agree XFX Suck, they keep changing their component and lower the cost production.

lil off the topic, If i have 3 choices between powercolor 470 devil 4gb/ sapphire 470 oc 4gb/ xfx 480 rs 4gb  which all are having same price tag, atleast in my country, which should i go for.  xfx suck but 480 at 470 price is kinna interesting...

I agree with Wolf, XFX is really a high quality paper weight.  Shitty cooling, shitty components.

any tips for make my nitro 470 4gb stable at 28mh above in dualmining ?

lower voltage with watt tool or raise tdp maybe

have tried to overclock it, now running at 1100mhz + memory 2000mhz stable at 28.5-28.9mhs at singgle mining, but in dual mining the vga hang up.
i think i must increase the tdp, but how to do it? watt tool?

Every card is different. I had one card I had to lower strap to 1950 because it was hanging every few hours/days. While another card with even a lower ASIC quality was running perfectly fine.

Can anyone explain what are these "straps" ? Smiley

I'm pretty sure all 480 8GB ref and no ref got samsung mem. Also pretty sure 480 4gb doesnt have samsung. Also sure all sapphire 470 8gb got samsung, and all 470 4gb ref and no ref got hynx(maybe some micron too already). The only none samsung 8gb is msi 470 8gb which is micron i think. So at least for the VRAM you are not exactly right. I personaly also like ref design pcb but with non-ref cooler as it was with 290 tri-x and pcs+(first revision). These were the best 290. Sad there is no 470/480 with ref design pcb and custom cooler.

its hmm.memory timings.  they change depending on the memory speed.  So by changing them you can have a higher hashrate for eth.  i hope im explaining this easy and correctly.

Non-ref don't all have Samsung. Non-ref is luck of the draw, always.

Which nonref 480 8gb doesnt have samsung?

Right now:
All 480 8gb - Samsung
All 480 4GB excluding bios masked 8gb ref - hynx
Nitro 470 8Gb - Samsung
Msi 470 8gb - Micron
All 470 4gb - hynx/micron

RX 480 8Gb 8000mhz which i not Samsung, really? If this is true this shoul be different hynx/micron from the one on 4Gb which is rated 6600-7000.. Are you sure you are not mistaken?

Is there a custom bios that works on the Powercolor Red Devil rx 470 4gb? I'm getting 22mh/s stock clock but would like to tweak them to get the most out of them I can.

afaik the rated voltage for eg. samsung memory at 2000mhz is 1.35 volt.

Older gddr5 chips were normally 1.5 or even 1.6 volt.

So setting it to 800mv without crashing is a sure sign it doesn't work.

Which is a pitty because most performance could probably be squeezed by upping mvdd. (not vddci)

Yeah, I tested myself and I do believe you're correct. It does seem to work on Fiji, IIRC, but probably because HBM.

Mentioned this a few times already, but i'll do it again Wink

Fiji and Those Lightning cards are the only ones capable of directly modifying the memory voltage (MVDDC or how it has been referred here "MVDD").

For every other card out there (i could have missed one or two) you can only raise or reduce the voltage given to the controller (VDDCI/AUX).
This isn't even stock, to be able to do this, you'll need to add the needed offsets in the rom, therefor also needing to remove extra whitespace in the rom to get the exact same size again. Not only that, the tables in the rom have to be modified as well. i2cdump ...

So basically, at this point, by opening polariseditor or wattman or whatever, and changing the voltage value next to the memory is not going to apply directly to the memory, but to the controller, so basically, giving that controller extra voltage does not affect your memory directly as that memory isn't getting extra voltage.

 Wink

Could we just change vddci in Linux using pp_table?
After parsing it seems vddci is there:
Container:
    ucRevId = 0
    ucNumEntries = 2
    ATOM_MCLK_ENTRY = [
        Container:
            ucVddcInd = 0
            usVddci = 850
            usVddgfxOffset = 0
            usMvdd = 1000
            ulMclk = 30000
            usReserved = 0
        Container:
            ucVddcInd = 15
            usVddci = 950
            usVddgfxOffset = 0
            usMvdd = 1000
            ulMclk = 220000
            usReserved = 0
    ]

This is only for the controller, and other shit (AUX voltage.)

Tested setting values for vddci other than 950 for mclk 2200MHz.
Immediate crash.

I'm finishing up testing on my tool for this, and it will do 900 - 1000 for me, but 1025 is too much (NSFW): https://ottrbutt.com/tmp/wolfamdctrl-v1-testing.png

Care to share src?
I've been playing with pp_mclk_od and pp sclk_od, but setting up voltages would be awesome!
How do voltage mod work with normal amdgpu-pro drivers on a 4.4 kernel?

Thx!

Hello everyone!

Today i finished my first rig. It consists of 3 x RX 470 8 GB Sapphire Nitro and 2x RX 470 8 GB MSI. The rig is powered by Corsair RM1000i.

Here is the screenshot:

https://postimg.org/image/6ww8m2r8t/

Any recommendations for getting better HR?

Also, according to power supply monitor, rig draws about 900W. Is it ok, or should i undervolt my cards? Waiting for the wattmeter, it should arrive by the end of the week, but i assume that it will show the same readings like LINK software.

Thanks!
