I was thinking about building a 470 rig but i am not that impressed by the hashrate mining ETH. The price is not that much lower then a 480 8GB either, so i guess i will start building another 480 rig instead.
Or am i missing something ? I know overclocking the 470 suck right now until a new driver is released but i still think it is way overpriced.
yes and no the 470 seems to do 110 watts for 22.5 mh the 480 seems to do 140 watts for 27 mh so 4.90 watts a mh for a 470 vs 5.2 watts a mh for the 480 does not seem like much but with better drivers I feel the 470 will get better also a 470 can be had for 199 a 480 is more like 239 for me I will end up with mostly 480's I did get a 460 from amazon today good price? 149.99 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J1M4HDS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?this may be the best yet depends on mh rate. if it does 18 mh for 80 watts that would be 4.44 watts a mh

In my country there is hardly any difference in price between 470 and 480 cards now so i will probably go on with more 480:s. That was a really good price for the 460 card for sure !

my 460 comes on friday. i hope for 80 watts and 18 mh
the 460 and the 470 may have a second benefit they both may draw less from the mobo pcie slots.
So a mobo that can not do 2 rx 480's may be able to do a rx 470 and an rx 480
I have a mobo that can not do 2 rx 480's but can do a rx 470 and a rx 480
it was doing a r9 390 and a rx 480 and when I sold off the r9 390 and put in a second rx 480 crashing happened.
I then put in the rx 470 with the rx 480 and I was all good.
I will need to list and track my builds a bit better. especially with mixing of cards.
as of now I am all rx 480's and 1 rx 470

I saw that thread, but the numbers were all over the place like you just pointed out. I think he was saying 11.xx for 1 card, 23.xx for 2 cards. Which is consistent, and according to what others have said, to be expected given the 128-bit memory bus on the RX 460 compared to 256-bit on the 470 and 480.

Your right, I read right past that statement with 2 cards... So around 11.5mh in stock trim on the 460. If that is the case then I think I will be pretty happy with the 470.

I'm not interested in the 460 now with that being said and just purchased the Powercolor Red Devil 470 ($199.99) while I wait for my preorder Sapphire Nitro 480's to finally ship!

I just got bought two of the 4 GB version MSI RX 470's from NewEgg ($199) and I can confirm that out of the box you get 20.5 MH/s at default settings.
The memory clock on the MSI 4 GB model is 1650 factory default, but I have been able to increase it to 1850 to get another 1 MHs (21.5 MH/s) stable. I have tried clocking the memory up to 2000 where I can get 22 MH/s for a bit before it crashes. I will need to work on trying other settings and voltages to make it stable at that speed, but I think it is possible, being so close out of the box.
The power draw is about 110-120 watts per card from my initial measurements. I am going to try to focus my efforts more on getting 22 MH/s stable before worrying about reducing the power draw, as for now it is still better than my other cards in terms of watts/hash.

I have both RX 470's working now (4GB and 8GB) with latest Claymore's Dual miner. Running it in ETH mode only atm, but both are mining without crashes.
8GB card is running at 24.xx Mh/s (drivers v16.8.1) 4GB card is running at 22.xx Mh/s (drivers v16.7.3)
-tried dual mode ETH+Decred:
Decred speeds: 8GB card is running at 369 Mh/s 4GB card is running at 321 Mh/s
Both Sapphire Nitro+ RX 470's at stock speeds.
Nice to see them both hash, Claymore's miner ftw!

What are the power drain of each card ?

What are the memory frequencies. Are you able to overclock the memory frequency? If so, what software do you use?
