The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Restrictions should be set up by section. Personally, I think that it is better that a community has higher requirements to partake in the marketplace section of their forum. I like to look through the previous posts of anyone I am doing business with to get a feel of them and determine how comfortable I am with transacting with them. It is annoying that you would have to post just to have that right and I know many people are not active forum members but would be beneficial to have in the marketplace, but it is still beneficial to filter out many unwanted individuals. I like the time requirement though, it also helps people (like me, I guess) make sure they spend time fully reading up on BTC and learning as much as possible before they get involved in the discussions.

Interesting. Well that explains why I can't post in the support forum.

I came on here to find out about what's going on with Silkroad, and can't read the forum for it.  Anyone have any info?  I try to login/even create a new account, and it just sends me back to the login screen every time.  Anyone have any info?  Does this mean it's still down?

I request to have my restriction removed. I have been a member since June and read the forums frequently. Having me post 5 "me too" posts to me newb requirements just so I can post the once in a blue moon contribution I would make to the normal forums does not serve the forum at all.

Uber-newbie here. I hate forums on top of that. Just brought my first "REAL" mining rig online. 2x 6950's and 2x 5830's. I'll never post again most likely - seems too difficult.

I truly do not understand the point of this "5 posts" minimum. Are you guys  trying to encourage spam? A troll will only spam his 5 posts in 2 minutes and be over with it anyways.

Spammers/scammers will always find a way. But these restrictions let the forum get rid off the lazy ones

I agree. There is no possibilities to make conversation, so the conversation will stay only between current members.

Yeah, 5 post is not a very strong way to stop spammers but at least is a start point.

I´m a newbie but I find this restrictions necessary.
