Retooled the notary tx statemachine to go from doing a BTC tx and independently a KMD tx with the BTC txid, to making a pair of tx using the same nodes for both.

also cleaned up the code to be more modular and extensible in case new features need to be added.

no crashes with the last version, so it is running stable.

reduced the packet traffic required, also added special handling for different nodes starting at slightly different times.

probably still a few issues left but should have a good chance of getting consistent notary tx on both chains. That is the next functionality level that needs to be achieved as then I can switch from the iguana notary dapp to komodod using the dapp data.

the iguana codebase is quite handy for creating crypto based dapp's as it has all the bitcoin protocol, in addition to a variety of networking, all written from scratch. which means if it doesnt quite do what it needs to do, I can customize it as needed.

I separated out the notary tx dapp into a special standalone iguana, it uses a different port and morphs it functionality to just do what the notary nodes need done, ie. automatically create right size utxo, run a multiparty notary tx creation protocol for a source chain -> dest chain. The txid of the dest chain is added to the source chain tx and it has all the same signers, so all nodes in the source chain wont even have to query the dest chain (they can if they want, but not required to).

I made it so that the iguana notary dapp can be used for KMD -> BTC and the same dapp can also be used for OTHERCHAIN -> KMD. This means without any additional work, assetchains (and any other chain) can create notarized tx, but instead of having to pay bitcoin txfess, only KMD txfees are needed

by minimizing the code that has to go inside komodod, it minimizes the chances of introducing bugs. Since the notary tx is used if and only if it is there, it made sense to encapsulate it into a separate dapp.

Next up is creating the special tx for election results, since it is closest in mental distance to the notary tx dapp. I want to keep the election process open to change, but we need to lock down how to ratify election results. This way, as a community we can adopt sane election process, but regardless of the process there will be consensus on how it is recorded.

I dont expect it to be happening all the time, but only during times of big changes. So maybe just a way for each notary to submit a command to the iguana notary dapp that their node ratifies a specific election result. In the event a majority of notary nodes (or one third + devteam) approves, it goes into the blockchain as a valid result.

Once this is done, then we flip to the komodo side which has to use the data generated to update the current state which is the list of official notaries and the notarized height. What makes it a bit tricky is that each height could potentially have a different list of official notaries and blocks can come in any order. I think I will limit the change of notaries to a 1000 multiple height. That will allow a much more compact indexed data structure to be used.

If you are still having problems

You need to do this: flush DNS

Why I can before do registration, put money and now this problem?
BTW made flush DNS and still same... will wait

Try a hard refresh (Ctrl + F5 or Shift + F5), and then login again, then wait a few minutes

Regardless, your investment is safe with us and you will receive KMD!

the ico site is working smoothly for me now.

Everything is OK and balance has 25% bonus in it.

Cheers

30K is a freaking lot of BTC. I know it costs money for notary nodes and the development.

But lets be honest KMD will be using already developed technological pieces from other coins. All the dev is doing is patching things up and it does not cost tens of millions USD in funding.

I think Dev is being greedy (want to use the coming ZCASH hype hence the opportune timing of ico) and bit jealous (of Waves developer) hence the 30K BTC cap + 6 million USD worth of BTCD.

This one is gonna be a saturated ICO if more than 5000 BTC are raised.

What hype do you mean? The "Number of investments" = 447 shown at https://ico.komodoplatform.com/?

The "Number of Investments" in thr ICO website looks to be the number of the people that signed up on the ICO website - not necessarily invested anything (yet). Look at the BTC escrow address and there are less "Transactions" than the "Number of Investments".

There is a typo on the main Komodo website - it says 'Gaol Reached' instead of 'Goal Reached'.

What is the minimum quantity of BTC that needs to be raised to make the project viable?
It depends on what level of the project you mean. There are the mission critical parts, like paying for bitcoin fees and notary nodes.

1000 would be enough for a reduced bitcoin notarization frequency and smaller number of notary nodes, but not a lot of development.

5000 would allow to have the fastest bitcoin notarization frequency, all 64 notary nodes and staff up a group of C coders and GUI devs fulltime for some years

10000 would allow having many LP nodes all fully funded for the lowest trading spreads and many liquid trading pairs

Above this would allow a warchest that can make opportunistic trades, arbitrages and other means to generate working capital and set up a very long term organization of the above. Along with some large scale marketing. Of course, even at the lower funds raised we will be doing marketing, but with a limited budget.

1000 btc which is over $ 600 000 would only result in "... not a lot of development". The majority of the funds could go to the project managers as pure profit with no benefits for the ico investors. But with another 4000 btc, adding up to 5000 btc which is over $ 3 000 000 the ico investors would "...  staff up a group of C coders and GUI devs fulltime for some years".

"Ideally we can recruit half a dozen high caliber C devs for continued enhancement of the tech, along with a similar number of GUI devs. We will of course manage with less, and we probably have to. Meeting the funding goals would allow us to do rapid development beyond the features we have announced."
https://komodoplatform.com/faq/

I question the need to pay notary nodes about $ 500 each month. The continuous expenses should be minimized since they add up.

"Notary nodes receive a monthly wage of ~$500 (to pay for expenses and as a reward) for the effort and resources contributed. Voters can also use the testnet KMD as one metric in evaluating a notary node.
The Komodo platform will require 64 notary nodes to which the vast majority of the 3 KMD block reward is expected to be allocated to. If the market price of the monthly 1/64th share amounts to less than $500, the Komodo team will use the ICO funds to cover the difference."
https://steemit.com/komodo/@komodoplatform/notary-node-elections

"The primary use of funds is for the dPoW consensus system implementation. In order to secure Komodo blockchain, the Bitcoin transaction fees must be paid. Capital is also needed to ensure there are enough high capacity nodes around the world. Eventually, the system will become self-sustaining, as other coins will use Komodo to get the benefits of dPoW."
https://komodoplatform.com/faq/

From a altcoin blog, translated from german to english with google translate:
https://altcoinspekulant.wordpress.com/2016/09/16/komodo-ico-macht-bitcoindark-btcd-hochinteressant/
"For me, James aka jl777 belongs to the clever minds of the cryptoscene, but still does not have a great degree of recognition. This is because James has been concentrating on the Nxt environment for a very long time, which has been successful since 2013, but has remained in a niche and has not been noticed by large parts of the cryptocommunity. The crypto-conglomerate which he created during this time is the same and is difficult for the outsider to see through. Here is only a part of it:"

We have job openings for fulltime positions.

Our needs are greatest for project management and GUI devs. However, we can also use testers for command line API, windows build specialists and of course C devs.

If you feel you can be a key contributor, please contact @KomodoPlatform

We will be able to pay in BTC and/or KMD. Positions would start at the end of the ICO. The total positions available will depend on the total amount raised.

The 5 notary transactions worked smoothly, so I increased it to 7 and we are generating a steady stream of those: https://blockchain.info/address/1P3rU1Nk1pmc2BiWC8dEy9bZa1ZbMp5jfg

the full BTC blocks are making them unconfirmed for quite a while. I will have to calibrate the txfee a bit higher to get us more regular confirmations

This number really is the amount of investments made into the Komodo ICO. Just signing up doesn't do anything to the counter.
