Ryan day has an absolute incredible start to his Ohio State football head coaching career. Last year, he led his team to a semifinal appearance and has taken his team a step further this year in reaching the championship game. He had an incredible game plan last week vs Clemson and has invigorated a tremendous Ohio State team. He always has his teams well prepared so expect a fast start vs Alabama.
Offense:
The offense last week against Clemson was nearly unstoppable. Top performers were QB Justin Fields who threw for a sugar bowl record 6 TDs, Trey Sermon with 193 rushing yards, and WR Christ Olave with 132 yards receiving and 2 TDs. They put up 49 points against a stout Clemson defense and will be looking for a repeat performance against Alabama. Sermon in particular has been extremely impressive as in total he has rushed for over 500 yards in his last 2 games including an Ohio State record 331 yards in the Big Ten Championship game a few weeks ago. Fields has also been coming on well and definitely has cemented himself as a top 5 NFL prospect with his performance last week. One thing to be aware of coming into this game is that Fields was injured early in the Clemson game. He still performed extremely well but it will be interesting to see if injury has any effect on him this week.
Defense
After a middle performance all year, the defense impressed me against Clemson. While they still gave up 28 points, they were able to put pressure on Clemson and force 2 turnovers. They’ll need to build on this performance and put pressure on the Alabama offense.

Alabama Crimson Tide
Coach: Nick Saban (255-65-1, 164-23 at Alabama)
Nick Saban is one of the best college football coaches of all time. He always has his teams well prepared and seem to show big for the playoffs and championship games. They’ll have a great game plan and will really put pressure on this Ohio State team
Offense:
After a dominant regular season, the offense really showed up big in the championship game. They are led by a three headed monster with QB Mac Jones, RB, Najee Harris, and WR DeVonta Smith. Against Notre Dame, Jones threw nearly 300 yards and 4 TDs, a near flawless performance. DeVonta Smith was the main beneficiary of a great game from Jones as he had 130 receiving yards and 3 of those 4 TDs. Harris was steady as ever and finished with 125 rushing yards on just 15 carries. This may be one of the best offense of all time and will be looking to cement their legacy with a championship win.
Defense:
The defense as always has been very steady. Against Notre Dame they shut them down pretty much all game and only gave up 14 points. There is a ton of talent on this side of the ball and they’ll need their A game to stop a potent Ohio State offense.

After a month’s break Astralis definitely look to be the favorites to win this whole tournament, as their experience in the past shows that this format and style favors them. Look for Astralis to seal the knot in 2021, and continue their dominance in style. They are my #1 favorite for BLAST Finals this week.

Vitality and NaVi are second and third contenders respectively to Astralis in this head space. Vitality have shown that they have the fire power and in game knowledge that is growing ever more by the day, and their star power has become enough to challenge Astralis in every matchup they play. However, their inconsistencies lie within their own shot-calling and confidence every time they face Astralis. In the grand scheme of things, this Vitality roster has won big things in 2020, but if they want to keep that up, they are going to need to be innovative and creative. On the other hand, Natus Vincere or NaVi as the fans like to call them, are back to shake up the room. S1mple, the world’s best player, resides on their team still, and when you have him you always have a shot.

Prediction:
I would be lying if I said I thought that anything but an Astralis win would be necessary here. However, look for Natus and Vitality to keep up pace with them, and dark horses could arise with Liquid and G2 as well. Online tournaments have a tendency to be more random, but I won’t think that should be a problem for the Danish powerhouse.
