Hmmm.. Perhaps there is something I have missed a few posts back, but I am unable to get the latest nvminer working with DOOM.

The error I keep receiving is Unable to query number of CUDA devices! Is an nVidia driver installed?.  Please note that I have the CUDA 6 toolkit installed, and ccminer on cryptonight works flawlessly.

I'm also on drivers 337.88.

If you not compile from source then you don't need to install cuda toolkit. Just update your nvidia driver to version 340.xx
i loaded new drivers and doom works but no other miners ...i had to roll back i cant do doom
this version support all others algo... you are doing something wrong...

edit: please don't suggest random changes

Well, I just corrected a typo to get it to compile, hardly a random suggestion. Hard for me to know that the defines shouldn't be there in the first place.

You could test it yourself on Linux if you find it annoying that someone needs to do changes to get it to compile.

BTW: you changed my text in your quote.

i dont have any tool kits installed that i know of. and the lastest driver will let doom work, but no other cuda miners will work and i get the same error .  how and where do i install cuda tool kit please? been running cuda miners for a long time.  thz   Smiley
Do a clean install of the latest beta driver (as the latest whql seems to have a problem (?)).
I use win 8.1, I have absolutely no problem.

thanks djm34 and im going to do some cleaning. my computer hasnt been the same since i was mining at suprnova the time he was attacked and at that time i got something in my computer. going to do heavy cleaning then reinstall 337.88  Smiley

EDIT:i did get a virus at that time

337.88 isn't going to work with newer nvMiner nor any of djm34's new releases (correct me if I'm wrong djm34) unless you compile yourself with CUDA 5.5.

Minimum driver required is 340.43 or preferred 340.52.

I test nvMiner after compiling now with 340.52.

Carlo

Compiling with CUDA 5.5 takes an incredible long time and isn't something I'm going to do anymore.  Not when CUDA 6.5 works just fine with a recent driver.

BTW, nvMiner supports every algo that is publicly released in any ccminer version (at the time I'm writing this). So if you get it working with one algo you should be able to use it for everything.

Nice to read your posts pros! I envy your programming skills  Wink

I got enough of Windows-nothing-having-OS and want to switch to Linux. I plan to use Linux Mint what is your opinion ? Maybe other distro is better for mining ? I cannot use KopiemTu because I am selling my hashing power to NiceHash with my own multialgo script.

I am looking for how-to regarding ccMiner/nvMiner compilation @Linux but cannot find any. Can someone share his experience ?

Thanks in advance.

nvMiner is Win-only, I think. ccminer compilation is slow, but dead simple.

heh, dead simple for who did it once ;-)

I know I need CUDA Dev Kit. I want to use 6.5 to have faster compilation and newest nVidia driver: 340.52. What repository should I use ? djm34 or cbuchner1 ? djm34 implemeted many of recent improvments so I guess I should use his repo. Am I right ?

My miner shows Doom hash rate of 360 Mh but the suprnova dashboard always says around 260 Mh.

I know the server isn't too accurate, but that's quite a big difference.

Why not KopiemTu ? I use a lot of home-made script on this distro, this choise I as legit as a Linux Mint I guess

(I have write my own script to manage my rig : ccminer launcher (stop/start/restart using a conf file), ccminer stats (list for all device installed the fan/temp/hashrate so I can detect dead card), webstatus (using my ccminer stats as input), ccminer watcher (watch if rig is hashing, and if ccminer is running but do not send share, the script restart the ccminer and send me mail with the log, when ccminer is back operational, it send me another mail ... 99% of the time it's a stratum disconnection, but it's usefull because ccminer doesn't have a build-in relaunch procedure, for exemple when the miningrigrental proxy switch and can generate a fatal json_rpc error at the end/start of a rental)

Long story short ... I don't understand why KopiemTu is not a good choice for your own Nicehash multialgo script ? Smiley
