I'll point my measly gpu and cpu at give-me-ftc, should add about 390-400khash/s.

won't be a lot, but I'm there Smiley

Will surely direct my 6Mhash/s towards feathercoin again if the retarget gets down a bit.
HOWEVER whats says that this wont happen again. as soon as the diff is around 30 again the network gets flooded with miners, difficulty rises an people abandon ship again...

Surely this has to have some remedy. I know when there was a certain miner pulling 220,000+ it was when the problems started. Then the difficulty went mad, they went back to ltc and left everyone else who has <1000khash/s struggling to make anything.

I have no idea how it works under the bonnet, and I'm mathematically illiterate, so I dunno.. but it seems that's the problem. Is there no way to smooth out the progression so that everyone can take it at a steady pace?

Rather than 1 or 2 people who are really only in it for profit, and who don't care about the intention or other people?

I mean, they float around all the cryptos and only go for what suits them best for maximum profitability..

Again, I dunno.. just feels like it's where the issue is..

The devs are working on a way to slow down the difficulty change and/or change the rate at which it increases. The net result will be that it wont bounce around and will be both ASIC resistant and coin hopping resistant.

The main reason i'm behind Feathercoin now is because the devs are actively looking to resolve the issue and will release a fix to stabilize the coin. It needs to survive first though.

I'll point my measly gpu and cpu at give-me-ftc, should add about 390-400khash/s.

Get over this hump and I will drop 40m to feathercoin

Just remember that u HAVE to leave the 3-4 day retarget time otherwise NOBODY will mine FTC

i.e if it was dynamiclly retargeted every hour this would be the final nail in the coffin ...there has to be some profit in a coin to mine ...this was always the original design of the BTC system

I know the devs know this but just wanted to remind them before they tinker toooooo much

Valid points - could really do with a few of those hashes now though to help us over the hump... Go on, you know you want to... Wink

If everybody jumps off, the coin becomes vulnerable and unusuable... Sad
I noticed on my Pool a hashrate decrease to 5% of the hashrate before diff. increase & price drop. that is way too much... since network has about same proportion we can talk about a serious problem... I think at least 1GH/s is healty in order for the people to wait to lower diff. everything lower is not good.

Litecoin, Feathercoin & Bitcoin ,Terracoin, PPCoin Mining Pool with proportional/PPS payoutmode, Long Poll, RollnTime & Noncerange support: https://hynodeva.com We pay PPS worker every 30 minutes, regardless if pool finds block or not.
