As I said yesterday, a dip down to a price $500 higher than I paid less than a week ago isn't a deep enough dip for me to buy... yet. Maybe if we drop below $5.3k.

We almost got to a "buyable" dip - and I am starting to question whether this dip is over yet because we seem to be aiming back up.

Sure, I am buying about every $200 down, so from $6180-ish, I have bought back in three stages, but I have not been able to buy in the $5300s for a while... so I am just buying when it bounces down and then back up and then down again.. but did not quite trigger my $5300-ish buys but surely we are still within reach.. so maybe we will go up and then down again and then up and then down and then up, up, up, and then down again, and then up, up, up again.... don't quote me on specifics because there could be a few additional UPs or a few additional DOWNs in there.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

4k? That's pretty pessimistic. I think I'll give up watching the price for a while until this blows over.

I did vote for $5k < > $5,5k by the end of the month. But I guess I'l have to vote again the same for the end of next month as well. Smiley
I knew there will be some dip in the price of bitcoin but with bitcoin trying to resist the dip. I guess I will go for the $4,500-$5,000 price range till the end of next month.

I remember those graphs, would have been more useful if it combined the volume from multiple exchanges just like its not all clear now in the various currencies.  Price looks to have reset fully within its higher range, look for 5600 area as possible resistance to any larger recovery.

33459 CNY or higher is a reasonable bullish hold overall

Quite frankly, we know nearly nothing about gays. Why do you exist? What is the evolutionary benefit? How do you interact with women compared to normal men? Little to no research is being done in this area, because it is not politically correct.

Your experience is not normal, because you are not the norm.

Not sure how to do research on this without it being hopelessly tainted by ideology.

Here's my take:

In a symbol-manipulating and culture-producing species, homosexuals fulfill the function of outliers not bound by responsibilities of family and to a certain degree free from regular societal norms and expectations. As such they are in a position to dedicate themselves to niche endeavors which may have no immediate useful function for society, but contribute to the experimentation and innovation which keep human culture evolving and adapting. They are often able to take bigger risks and pursue less profitable career-paths compared to heterosexual people with a family. Having children/spouses be dependent on your income makes you more conservative in taking risks and experimenting with your perceived role in society. Thus you can find many homosexuals in fields which demand extreme immersion and individuality of thinking in order to produce results: art and science.

Anyway it's probably best to ask some gay people what they think about all this.

Obviously many traders are still trading bitcoin as altcoins during pump/dump cycles. They buy when bitcoin price rises and sell when it drops. Needless to say they are satisfied with small profits or even losses! Some of these noobs are quite rich to put sell walls like 500-1000 btc when the price is at the bottom. Anyway, the present situation is not good only because of the contentuous fork segwit2x. I expect the price will continue to rise before the HF but occasionally to have some dumps of noob whales, because of the FUD the HF brings. Unlike the situation of AltCash, when the bitcoin trading wasn't endangered, now it is. There is a possibility that most miners will mine 2x part on a loss to make the legacy blockchain weak and vulnerable. There are even posts in reddit for an organized 51% attack on the legacy chain. If this happens core team will have to urgently change the POW algorithm or switch to POS. I don't believe that miners will go completely rogue, since this is a suicide. The uncertainty may continue for 2 weeks after the HF, when the difficulty is adjusted for both chains. Nobody can predict what will happen, but there is a small possibility that miners 'win' if the bitcoin price crashes and most exchanges decide to follow the hashpower. I don't see how the current price of bitcoin will transfer automatically to the 2x altcoin, so miners are delusional that they will mine (even in the distant future) with bigger profits.  It is more probable IMO that  the users will win and bitcoin will remain what it is - the unique always rising cryptocurrency in the world!

well, the B2X attack is still not over yet. Yesterday coinbase blogged about following the current bitcoin chain instead of this B2X crap. Now they clarify their intentions:

According to Coinbase revised 'clarification' miners can change any consensus rules unilaterally

They probably have solid commitment from greater than 51% hashpower that they will mine S2X at a loss for a sufficient period of time that they can declare the predetermined winner.

No, assbot. He clarified his clarification. It's the miners _and_ the market.

"Market cap, community support, etc would all factor in."

Sorry y'all, yet to iron out all the kinks. This was my first time programming an ass bot. In fact the original ass bot has 100+ developers contributing code on a volunteer basis. I just forked this one off, so it's buggy. Not much I can do about it now. Let the market decide I guess.

Exactly the problem, yes. One often used option is to study animals first.

That's not an unreasonable hypothesis, but humans evolved in tribes where no one man is indispensable. That's why women have the hypergamous instinct, in the event that one man dies (or they simply tire of him) they can move in with another. The christian missionaries in the new world did not like this part of native culture at all but it is how things work in tribal life. And it doesn't explain why homosexuality exists in animals.

Exchanges are probably given a percentage of the coins to put on their exchange along with the founders adding some coins for liquidity.

This gives it a price as people trade them for bitcoins slowly eating them up.

I really hope it sticks over 5000, it's just such a nice number to be set at.
Then next month it can go back up a bit moar, next stop 7K!
Yes, it a nice number to set at but you misunderstand what I said during the bitcoin gold fork time there will be dip but when it SegWit2x there will be pump in price which there will up and down in price for a chance of new buy before it all bullish next year.

Sexual promiscuity and relative freedom, communal raising of the young, polygamy etc., are believed to be frequent behaviors (common in >50% of communities) in pre-agricultural human societies. The few remaining human communities that are in a pre-agricultural stage (hunters-gatherers) do follow this pattern, as do other social non-human primates (with exceptions). The percentage of communities with such communal sexual behaviour is species-specific. For example, bonobos and common chimpanzees are like this, but other large ape species have different behavior distribution (I'm thinking of mountain gorillas, baboons etc).

The theory which is more popular among ethologists and anthropologists is that when agriculture sets in, there is literal and metaphorical fence-building: My land, my harvest, my woman. Don't touch or I'll kill you. Besides, not only the "landlord"'s role (male head of family), but also the female's, becomes harder to replace if it's just the basic couple, rather than the whole village, who must work the crops and the house.

So the poetic image that goes along with this theory is that agriculture is the "loss of innocence" landmark for mankind. The pre-agricultural state can then be mythically transfigured into a lost paradise.

My personal experience, while not significant statistically, reinforces this myth. I used to have a business in a distant part of the world. There, I befriended many people that have a nomadic (pre-agricultural) history and were forced into "civilization" only a few generations ago. They are different, indeed. The women react very differently. The men react quite differently. The sense of possession is much weaker indeed. The sense of impermanence is palpable. I like that general feeling very much. Of course, with the Internet and globalization reaching every "civilized" human, the dominant mentality quickly takes over. Things are changing fast and even trace amounts of that innocent paradise are being lost and will vanish soon.

I agree, those coins must be funded on the exchange sites in order to be traded with a better buy and sell. That's what really affects the price as demand will eventually makes the price to rise even more of its current value, and the proof is now as we see the price of bitcoin surpassed the speculations of $5k and even reached higher up to $6k or even much higher value within several months to come. Whatever new coins to come for now, I think price might be the same with what other coins had gone through for so many trades and high or low fluctuations always showed no differences.

BTG will hit 0 soon enough when they actually release the info to access coins on other wallets like Trezor, Electrum, etc. Unless another BCH style pump comes and saves it by the time next week rolls around it’ll be worth a couple dollars. Probably won’t even be worth the time to collect your free BTG by then.
