SOMEONE SOLD EVERY BITCOIN ON BTC-E

Yet it's barely caused a ripple in the price. $279 on Stamp right now as I type this. I think we'll be stick in the 270-300 range for a few weeks now. I see no reason for significant movement either way unless somebody starts manipulating of course.

lol, btc-e...

I wonder what it is about that place that produces the freakiest behaviour. Maybe everyone on there is under 12 because they can't open accounts anywhere else.

Great Flashcrash. Now we're ready to rocketlaunch.

I compare this move to the one on 30-09-2013. We'll see if it makes any sense  Grin

Someone sold 5K BTC-E coins at market.

if even half of that sell order was at/below 200 it's an equivalent loss to doing this like 5 times with no insurance

wonder if they'll just get fired or whacked ?

(or it's an individual that will retire never to look back, hopefully, for their sake)

Nothing new here... BTC-E has those spikes (up/down) before... Don't think there will be another spike, because btc-e team will prevent it. Give it an hour and the price will be back at 280$.  Wink

Only an hour ? I don't think 1 hour is enough ... maybe 2-3 hours (who knows, it is only speculation).

While the dump may look the same it happened in a very different situation, After feb 2014 it was all bearmarket while after the one on 30-09 2013  there was the huge rally.

I don't understand how someone could crash this car 5 times like that. It's supposed to be broken after the first.

BTC-E allows leverage, and this means that:

- some people have used it to go long
- they can be wiped out by forcing the price down to trigger automatic margin call
- some (other) people have access to the information on the margin call limits, either accurately or by deduction
- selling as much as to trigger the cascade, and then buying them back cheaper from the cascade, is called $$$ (profit)
- no real BTC need to be involved at all, because the operation happens completely in the exchange internal system

Wow. That's diabolical.

Guess u always should set a stop loss for margin trades.
