k so lets start up that Choo Chooooooo MOTHER FUCKERS  Grin

This train is going nowhere till after the Bitcoin Classic fork occurs, then it's off to new ATH.  Before/during fork there will be some mega dip to $320 or below probably as people like Popescu come out of the woodwork, then it goes back up again after fork is completed.

Gmax threatened to rage-quit, too. Mike just beat him to it. Much like the mythical ouroboros...

Don't forget Luke Jr & Gavin.  Basically all of them except maybe Wuille have threatened to rage quit if they don't get their way?  Then Peter Todd beat everyone to it and already semi-rage quit when Ghash got 51%.  Can we get a 100% rage quit count if nobody is allowed to be dictator of Bitcoin?

wumpus is the only guy who matters ... and he'll never quit, don't even think he rages, just codes like a commando

Unpleasant fact #4: Commandos, while expert in fieldcraft, can't code their way out of a paper bag Sad

... it may seem like that but we are in the process of a cleansing and some trash is leaving, so you might be confused by the trashy bankster trolls currently infesting us like a bad case of SSD or lice

You didn't break up with me, I broke up with YOU!

I believe the price dropped for a different reason. Yes, a trend analysis nonetheless. The yellow arrows show evening doji stars with confirmations the next day. The red arrow is awaiting a confirmation for the hopeful morning doji. People also are known to sell the news, and buy the rumor. So, rumor has it to be above $420 by Tuesday.

endless FUD, these useful idiots are getting led around like around stupid, docile beasts and they actually think they are doing the best by Bitcoin ... looks like another beating is needed for them to figure out who really has their best interests covered.

By the way, there was another message by "Satoshi" recently, denying that he was Craig Wright -- and then adding "We are all Satoshi".  That last part is obviously something that Satoshi would not have written. I can only think that the hacker is aware that everybody is aware that the account has been compromised, and does not care to pretend anymore.

Sound, sensible analysis as always. Good to have you home, professor.

The problem is that the anti-fork message was not spoofed and the writing style matches.

Here's a quick technical analysis of the email sent to the bitcoin-dev mailing list today at http://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/bitcoin-dev/2015-August/010238.html

The email was sent from an anonymous email provider called vistomail.com which gives the appearance of being out of service. However you can see the logins at https://webmail.vistomail.com/

The vistomail servers are authorised to originate email by their IP address via the SPF DNS records . Satoshi used satoshi@vistomail.com when first announcing Bitcoin http://www.metzdowd.com/pipermail/cryptography/2009-January/014994.html

From this you can safely conclude the email did originate from vistomail.com servers and was not spoofed. It does not prove the account was not hacked of course.

Partial headers from the email:

Received: from mail.vistomail.com (vistomail.com [190.97.163.93])
by smtp1.linuxfoundation.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2175813F
        for <bitcoin-dev@lists.linuxfoundation.org>;
        Sat, 15 Aug 2015 19:00:05 +0000 (UTC)
Received: from DS04 ([190.97.163.93]) by vistomail.com with MailEnable ESMTP;
        Sat, 15 Aug 2015 13:51:14 -0500

DNS RECORDS FOLLOW:

vistomail.com descriptive text "v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ip4:190.97.163.93 ~all"
vistomail.com has address 190.97.163.93
vistomail.com mail is handled by 10 vistomail.com.

The "we are all satoshi" was spoofed and the writing style or expressions didn't match. So the second doesn't invalidate the first.

Additionally, that particular email address is not known to have been stolen.

Therefore the August message could be legit - it's a very serious risk for BTC. Risk, in the sense that if the proposed fork goes ahead, we'll have Satoshi's second coming after the forkageddon to proclaim Bitcoin is a failure since it failed to protect itself from this kind of attack.

Is everybody forgetting that SM had a PGP signature that hasn't been used since he disappeared? He's a cryptographer, for Christ's sake. Or he could have signed with the private key of an early BTC address.

If you want somebody to believe you and have the means to prove you are telling the truth, but don't, YOU ARE STUPID.

Satoshi isn't stupid. The people who believe these impostors are.

me too ... I never grokked what all the panic is with this increase BS now BS. We got many capacity increases here already, Electrum, SPV layers, web wallets (small amounts), exchanges, then lightning-like layers, sidechains and by then we'll be ready for blocksize increases with a well-researched/developed implementation plan to smoothly transition to the long-term low-reward, fee-driven security mining regime.

Did you seriously get all happy thinking you scored cheap coins and did not know about a massive hard fork coming with probably 75%+ hash support that's going to temporarily tank price till it's over?

I have been following the recent block size debates through the mailing list. .....
Satoshi Nakamoto
I had not seen that letter until now, but it looks like a lot of vague bla-bla without even a hint of a technical argument.
I'll eat my hat if that was written by any of the very skilled mathematician/cryptographer(s) that designed bitcoin.

That letter is fake.  It was not know at the time, but Satoshi's mail account has been taken over -- no one knows how or when.  That was proved last September, when "Satoshi" sent a dox extorsion email from that address to some prominent bitcoiner.

Anyway, the phrase "in the face of widespread technical criticism and through the use of populist tactics" is a dead giveaway of its source.  I only cannot guess who wrote it because there are several people at Blockstream, and many more among its supporters, who would have used those words, would not have any scruples in sending a forged message to support their agenda, and are naive enough to think that the trick would work.

The second paragraph, moreover, is totally at odds with the very idea that makes the protocol work.

Satoshi's writing and that particular letter have something in common: Two spaces after a sentence ends. That's the "old" way of writing in the typewriter era where you hit space twice - and you carry over that habit to the PC keyb into the late 80s/90s. You do it too because you are of the "old guard". Younger people, hackers, script-kiddies, well... not only don't they know these things but they won't even spot the difference in order to emulate it. The two spaces, for me, increases the chance that it was original. As for IPs, mail spoofs, hacked accounts, I can't tell you who controls what. The writing style is quite neutral and it feels ok'ish though and in line with what Satoshi has said in the past.

That pattern has been so widely reported I can't imagine any attempt at a fake not using it.

Does not prove that it is fake, but I consider that particular stylistic pattern to carry no information.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/17/business/dealbook/the-bitcoin-believer-who-gave-up.html?_r=0
from hearns post the other day-
The divide has led over the last six months to death threats against Bitcoin developers and hacking attacks that have taken down Internet providers.
The fight took on a new dimension when a powerful hacker distributed Bitkiller, malicious software that sought out computers that downloaded the Bitcoin XT software and overwhelmed them with traffic. One Internet provider on Long Island said the Bitkiller attacks brought down service for part of southern Long Island for several hours. The biggest American Bitcoin company, Coinbase, was taken entirely off-line for brief periods after declaring support for XT. Not surprisingly, this scared away many Bitcoin users from downloading the new software or even declaring support for it.
The hacker responsible for the attack, who appeared to be based in Russia, told Mr. Hearn in an online exchange that someone “payed me for killing XT” — though he declined to say who was responsible.

Now im wondering could this happen to classic or any of the other wanabe bitcoin?  nakamotos coin will disapear (just like him, lol) and we get gavcoin or some other devs vision of btc, im even hearing things like they can change the halving date and the coin supply.
( wtf r they doing, https://bitcoinclassic.consider.it/  seems like a typical alt coin page )
