Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

To think that I would see the day that a single bitcoin is worth over $2000. I don't know how others seem to have 0 perspective on the situation.

Back to buying cheap coins...

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Missed a day and it was a memorable one. Almost missed a very buyable dip.

Now it's edging back up a little... currently $2060USD (Bitcoinaverage).

Waiting for a cheque to clear, should be another 9 days. I wanted to be able to catch the predictable pre-August-BIP148 panic. I hope that wasn't it.

Maybe if I post a little FUD it'll help delay the correction back up.  Grin

_________

When I got home and saw the price last night, I ran over to my newest neighborhood 24-hour BTC ATM to buy what I could afford and was greeted with a fine surprise.

It seems their wildly varying ATM fees are pegged to whether they're buying or selling more coins. Last night's panic selling was enough to send buy fees down to 2.1%. Not bad for deciding to buy, running up the street and buying a minute or 2 later.

This morning their buy fee is up to 8.3% (almost quadrupled) due to people buying the rebound. Although the Bitcoinaverage price is $80CAD lower than when I bought, the ATM price is about the same.

Seems that panic sellers are subsidizing the buy fees of dip buyers. Love it.  Cheesy

ok, i just put one at 1755, but its very distant. my refill from 2015 got closed at 2065 while I was out for a walk Smiley
will rebuy 2015 once again if it gets there this weekend.
For now it looks like we are really heading for close above 2000 today  Smiley my next partial close is sitting at 2095 and its getting close. if hit, I'll place buy order @ around 2050

Waiting for a cheque to clear

It's not stopping till at least $1600's; better delay that check.  Anyway, there is no reason for bitcoin to exist ever since ASICs were created, so let this shit implode with 500 forks and then Luke Jr (or Ruke Junya as he is known in China) can change the PoW algo to GPU mining and bitcoin can have some type of reason to exist again.

And someone will just develop an ASIC for that algo. ASIC resistant is a myth. If the economic incentive is there, someone will come up with a way. I don't care how much memory the algo requires.

BTW, what the hell am I supposed to do with this silver bullion that I bought a few weeks ago? I'm already bored looking at it. Also, where I am I going to get anywhere near the spot price for it if the need arises? Should I just wait for this "impending" financial apocalypse so that I can score some groceries with it?  Roll Eyes
