I am almost certain that if Satoshi had originally coded a block limit doubling every 2 years along with block reward halving every 4 years then this would never have been discussed or even pondered in so much questionable detail. Jesus ... it costs a few hundred bucks to get a retirement visa, then a few tens of dollars a year to renew it. These packages do very little more for you unless you really want a work visa(?), lotsa spa appointments, maybe an annual health check etc. Lot of money for bugger all IMO.

Don't forget the economy in SE Asia is booming right now, especially Vietnam. Construction everywhere while citizens are gaining wealth and the new generations are becoming very educated.   It's kinda refreshing to be around.

But, a 500.000€ property nowadays is a 1.25-2 mill € property of some years ago when we were at the peak of the real state bubble. So the amount requirement is a bit too high currently as it is probably too much for a secondary residence (I think it doesn't need to be your "home", it can be an investment in several properties for renting or whatever that sum 500K).

Oh, there are some additional requirements such as not having criminal records and all that burocracy stuff.

I personally know some (rich) Venezuelan families which took advantage of the offer... plus registering companies here that employ themselves so that they can also access to public health system and all that shit.

I did a week in Thailand a few months ago. Great time, beautiful women. Cheap prices. You start to decide whether you want a nicer hotel for $45 or just go with a regular one for $25. Went to one of the islands and spent $200/night on a 5 star luxury hotel with a stairway to the pool right off of my patio on the ocean (sea?).

I plan on retiring in January and will go live there. Got a beautiful gf out of the deal as well.
