Great article on cnn money today about a guy who lost it all "on bitcoin". Turns out he bought in November, got the nice big run up, then started huffing Ether and Bitcoin Cash and now has lost 95% of "his investment"

Boo fucking hoo dude. Shouldn't have gone into those shitcoins.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Yes.. let's see next week, but we are also seeing what is happening this week, and it is an ongoing dump in process that could end up in a kind of dramatic capitulation that brings the product to 2 digits (not sure if it will stay there, though?).

Originally, about 4 years ago, I had thought ETH had a value in the less than $10 range, sustainably.  Of course, I was proven wrong, and the building of a large number of ICOs and various shit products upon ETH has shown that it has some value - including the value to raise capital from individual investors (if you can label 14 year old snot noses as "investors?).

Bob

If you want a new hobby come short ETH on light leverage with tight stops.  It’s very satisfying and healthier than drinking all day.

I think the point is that in respect of ETH, traders/holders really have a reason to sell: ICO's are dead.

The main selling point of ETH: gone.

No Future (although it won't go to $0.00)

Should ICO's become a thing again, higher powered chains may take over (EOS, Telos, Tron, whatever).

For now, alts that have their main trading pair in ETH have suffered immensely as well. But I can see alts decoupling from ETH (i.e., ETH going deeper down while ERC20 tokens stabilise in USD price; the world turned upside down  Shocked ).

The narrative of Bitcoin still stands: Digital Gold (I am still doubting whether LN is viable to support the 'payment system' narrative).

But there is a danger that the outflow out of ETH and other alts into Bitcoin may dry up. When we reach that point, will there be enough 'native' demand for Bitcoin to avoid a true bear market (like, going convincingly below 200 MA on the daily, just like the other bear markets)?

The times they are a-changin'

So a whale removes or sells all ?

I suppose that they didn't have enough BTC on the hot wallet to fulfill all current withdrawal requests and just added new funds to ensure withdrawal of funds

Yes, that's not good news  Cry

Why not?  I think it's very good news.  The more delivery taken the less for sale.  Those are going into cold wallets most likely.  It would be a horrible way to arbitrage.
