So I need to ask, how many of you have basically hodl from the ATH till now.
Mostly codl hodl since years. As in, several boom/bust cycles. I have a minor percentage as 'trading stock'. I've described my laddered standing orders strategy several times in this thread. I make BTC when price is going down, and I make $ when price is going up. I took some out at the turn of the year in order to buy a lambo. I pani'cd sold 13 btc at $3,964.20...the other day...just to get me into fall of 2019 and still retired... got 1 week till my coinbase limit resets....if it is under 3k by then...I may just do this again with more BTC. 50% down in value for the month....could be a hint that I'm stupid

People give too much credence to such chicken littles.
Of course, they are going to be kind of right, and then they are proclaimed as some kind of prophet, after the fact?
Go figure?

I saw some guys here talking earlier about gene editing and the like, I am also in favour of all of the technology and next waves of medical technology that are coming, dammit keep me alive, replace my body, load me into the cloud I am ready and willing
The problem with self-preservation is that we may end up losing the self in the process. It may be an obvious decision we must make or it may be insidious. I hear you... also I wonder if mental health would become a problem, not necessarily an insurmountable one.. Maybe we live in simulations, and have finite lives to preserve our sanity. Shit man, we really DO live in a simulation already its all true Did we all pick the "Bitcoin adventure, nightmare edition" Holy fuck man it all makes sense all of a sudden

^sweet dreamz, mic, of rockets and trains and er dildos https://twitter.com/stefanwouldgo/status/1066990730240040960Now that we've had some years to see the impact, it's time for me as a former maximalist to come clean: the critics have been right all the way: 1/ It uses a ton of energy that would certainly be better used by something else. 2/ It's used by terrorists every day! /3 The advanced projects that made something like it, only better, have won. /4 Its price has gone down and will probably never recover. /5 The technology behind it was the real breakthrough. Spoke has changed the world forever. /6 #Wheel is dead. #postmaximalism So is the #Internet. #Intranet has been the real revolution. Shocking, too, that neither the wheel nor the internet has solved inequality. I really can't understand why we even bothered with these useless things! Luckily, Internet 4.0 is shaping up to solve all problems, just like wheel 2.0 did. 1 It uses a ton of energy that would certainly be better used by something else. ( like world bank servers) 2 It's used by terrorists every day! ( like fiat currency) 3 The advanced projects that made something like it, only better, have won. ( like XRP) 4 Its price has gone down and will probably never recover. ( said 300+ times before) 5 The technology behind it was the real breakthrough. ( like atomic bomb) Spoke has changed the world forever. ( ??) /S

Anyway, I have always assumed your stash is "quite healthy" in a way that if that's the only that you have cashed out it pales in comparison to your cold stash. And you could more than probably just buy it with from your salary anyways. So... do you have plans to ever cash out in a more significant way?

More champagne, mister JuanGee? For what reason, champagne, roach? Does not really seem like a celebratory period for BTC HODLers - to have the BTC price go down and then continue to go down and down and down... Are you celebrating? Is silver or gold having any short term promises? and even if so, who gives a ratt's fuck, unless you can somehow connect the topic to bitcoin, which usually your post remain a stretch in terms of the bitcoin connection. Or maybe, perhaps, you broke down and bought a little bitcoin in order that your "contributions in this thread" could, perhaps, become a bit more relevant within the near term or even the longer term if you decided to become a bitcoin playah? Perhaps? One thing is for sure: demand for unconfiscable inmmutable censorship resistant money is here to stay.
I thank you for your endorsement of physical silver and gold. You seemed to have gotten the reference wrong... seemingly on purpose. You know that gold and silver do not fit into the category of unconfiscatable.. and surely they have other problems too regarding expensive storage, difficultiies in moving large quantities and likely expensive security considerations... but whatever, we are not talking about that stuff anyhow, the PM BTC comparison contrast topic has been beaten to death, no?

Holy fuck man it all makes sense all of a sudden That is some *DEEP* thought there! Yeah, it all makes fucking sense! Question is, did we pick the experience where the protagonist prevails in the end and is a happy benefactor of the Bitcoin rush, or are we a group of degenerates that are on volume 5 of the limited edition Bitcoin obscura horror series, where we end up destitute and insane ? The horrifying thought is maybe we have all met before in volume 3 and volume 4 but had all of those memories wiped away. Its probably 3018 already

For what reason, champagne, roach? Does not really seem like a celebratory period for BTC HODLers - to have the BTC price go down and then continue to go down and down and down... You bring up an interesting point. For if the cost of production of silver was $14-15 or so and in some type of alternate dimension it started to sell for $2, I would immediately sell everything I own and buy it all up. Yet, if the price of bitcoin crashes and goes lower...and lower...and lower as you say, there's no point in which that's actually a valid strategy, because as you say, it can always go even lower...even to zero. If something has absolutely no price floor whatsover, could you explain how it's supposed to function as "a store of value"? It appears you're providing evidence for the Dan Larimer philosophy of shitcoins: they're a distributed (not even decentralized) business that works the same as something like the UPS. You just pay some guy a fee to deliver a payload from point A to B. There is no real store of value mechanism at play, just as nothing at the UPS store has any type of store of value. It's all just paying for a service. You're required to purchase the native shitcoin to pay for the service, but the shitcoin doesn't actually function as a store of value (the last sentence Larimer likely knows to be true but would prefer not to talk about it).

I went down to the Bitcoin ATM this morning and it was OUT OF COINS. So I picked up $500 on principle because it sounds like they needed them.
Still out of coins. Boo!
