Does it bother anyone else that MtGox used the wrong "effected" in their press release?

I missed that-- yes, bothered, and a bit sad.

Edit: Title reads: "Maintenance Announcement Effecting Bitcoin transfers![sic]"

Did you see that they corrected on the website news?

 Cool They are watching us...

Holy shit... they are watching us  Shocked

That means the guys working at the website are fully awake .. but still no news . And that ain't good.

Maybe they are killing time on a bitcoin subforum...  Cheesy

Another great day's entertainment ahead  Cheesy Cheesy

And hello to all you MtGox staff....shouldn't you be working/confusing people on the support desk.

How does one read this "Bitcoin mining profitability" chart?  Is it something to worry about?

Not really. Price Stays same and difficulty increases = less profit for miners.

Once withdrawn from Gox there should be no need to dump elsewhere as you already profited from the low buy price, still i guess the fear of others blind dumping may spark a race and bring down the price.
Am i missing something?

People panic selling because there might be panic selling? No, such a thing would never happen.

All numbers were collected by hand from the site http://bitcoinwisdom.com. Beware of possible errors.

For each exchange, the numbers include only the trade volume to/from the currencies listed in the rightmost column. Trade between BTC and other cryptocoins, such as LiteCoin, is NOT included.

The exchange Bter was added to Bitcoinwisdom's menu on 2014-02-15; its volumes for 02/07 to 02/14 have been added
retroactively to the table.

Coinbase is said to use Bitstamp for currency conversion.

Dates on the header line are UTC. Specifically, "01/15" means "from 01/15 00:00:00 UTC to 01/15 23:59:59 UTC". (Beware that Bitcoinwisdom uses your local time, so the date may appear to be off by 1 day.  For example, if you are 2 hours west of Greenwich, it may show "01/14 22:00" when the UTC time is "01/15 00:00".)

NOTE: A few days ago, MtGOX has suspended withdrawals of Bitcoins and national currencies.  Therefore it is essentially isolated from other markets, and its price is completely out of the norm.  The exceptional trade volumes above may be meaningless.

Given the amount of negative BTC stories in the popular press this last week I thought I would check out what the Bitcoin Foundation was doing to counter some of it.  Apart from a couple of brief blog posts I couldn't find anything - which is very disheartening.

There is clearly a war being waged here (hearts and minds and all that) in the media and it seems BTC isn't even participating, there are a few champions but I'm actually quite disturbed there isn't a greater effort to counter to some of the nonsense being printed.

Believe it or not, i usually am. It's just the group behaviour of people that drives me nuts. As you may have noticed.
