Just thought I'd share here because it's relevant and personally a little exciting...

Not sure if anyone remembers but a few months ago I made a post about a business my friend works for that generates their own electricity (via gas and wind) and sells it to the grid. The problem comes at times when they sell to a grid at a loss when they have excess energy so I suggested they set up a mining operation. Long story short they got up a test bed with a 0.8MW operation and it seems to be going well; there's now plans to expand this to other sites nation wide to I THINK a 8MW total. Sitting down with my friend tomorrow for me to be brought in an have a possible role in all of this so I'm pretty excited. TOTAL change from my current line of work but definitely something I'd be passionate about.

So yeah, that's that Smiley

The extent to which the current "Bitcoin uses more electricity than Crustopia" sort of narrative has things so COMPLETELY out of phase with reality it will be a strange jolt for honest people when they realize how it enables energy creation even more than it uses energy.

It is a ripe market for businesses to make money guiding this revolution.  Wish I was not so lazy. Wink

Good we are finally adding a 300kwatt solar array  in NJ to the 115  and 45 ones we have.  We had hoped it would be 350kwatts , but roof structure only allows 300 Kwatts.

8MW will be good sized for you.

I'll be thrown a little into the deep end here but I'll find out more about what the role entails tomorrow when I sit down with my friend. It will be an interesting thing to tackle regardless and a lot easier on my body than my current job; nothing may come from it but I'd be stupid to not at least listen and go for it if I'm given the opportunity

Hi guys. I see it's talking mining, I had stopped some years ago, but for Christmas I managed to buy a 3080FE, and a 3080Ti FE. I wanted a card to play videogames mainly, and didn't want to pay the crazy black market prices, I finally got them for MSRP. Still it's quite a sum of money, I also need to buy the rest of the PC (parts are ordered), so I think I will start mining again. I will probably convert into BTC on a regular basis, and treat that as DCA buys, where my cash goes to electricity and "paying back" the hardware. I'm closing myself to exchanges fiat onramps to be a bit more stealthy so doing it that way is "2 birds, 1 stone". For occasional "buy the dip" events I shall use a DEX.

Nice!  Shitcoins allow hobby miners such as myself to generate bitcoin with a video card, via the Nicehash service, by simply selling one's hash power and being paid in bitcoin.
One is not actually mining bitcoin, but for all intent and purposes, might as well be. Excellent way to DCA, imo.
Been doing it myself for several years with my now ancient, but reliable 1070's.
I'd venture to say the majority of video card miners point their hashes to a certain shitcoin not to be mentioned.

(hopefully, my post will not elicit a JJG batslap)

I wish i could find a decent card for MSRP instead of buying a whole PC (with that card) for a price of the card (retail).
This is seriously pissing me off.

Just a random thought.

It will take almost 7 Months, 2 Weeks, 3 Days, 22 Hours, 6 Minutes and 39 Seconds to count until 21 million (231 days).

@jjg..the problem with you is that you are wishy-washy about EVERYTHING and not willing to take a stand.

It seems to me that I laid out the issues pretty damned clearly, and you get caught on nonsense about my supposed failings.

You made at least two outrageous statements regarding BTC staying between $30k and $65k for the next year.  You also stated that BTC prices only had a 1% chance to get over $200k within that same time period.  I was attempting to get you to somehow stand behind either or both of those statements, and I thought that perhaps a bet may well be a good potential way to attempt to suss out the terms in which you might be willing to stand behind some kind of variation of that, but instead you waffle way the fuck in regards to wanting a bet about my statements, instead, which are pretty damned tame in comparison and way less extreme than yours, including that they are mostly (but not completely) contained in my December 16 post about timeline and price top probabilities

Some of our later posts in this thread were seeming attempts to try to figure out bet terms, but you hardly even stand behind shit while attempting to blame me for your lack of any kind of spine regarding your assertions.

I would not mind continuing to try to work something out, but we seem to be way the fuck too far apart, and largely that is because you hardly even came close to sticking to your assertions or wanting to focus any kind of bet on those, which I would have been more than willing to bet upon if we could have stuck to that rather than switching to betting on my relatively modest assertions... at least relative to your nonsense that you seem to know to be nonsense since you are not even wanting to stand behind some variation of what you had already asserted.

F-g percentages.
Basically, you:
1. don't want to risk anything
2. hide behind 'negotiations'
3. did not take a chance to DOUBLE your stash while having a 4:1 odds advantage.

You are not adding anything new or of value to whatever you are wanting to argue with these three points, which makes little to no sense from my perspective.. but hey, you do you.  You are pretty good at making little to no sense. Keep it up.

I conclude that you are all air (or bits, whatever).
I cannot take your opinions seriously anymore, but not a surprise, really...you has always been one gigantic gas bag.

Glad to hear that you have feelings.. but what about your assertions regarding the BTC price staying between $30k and $65k for the next year, and what about your assertion that there is less than a 1% chance for BTC prices to go above $200k in that same one-year period.  Do you still stand behind either of those assertions?  Or are you moving off of those as well?

Anyhow, you do not seem to be willing to bet on anything close to those earlier assertions... so there's that.  Or at least, that is what I am getting out of this whole thing besides your seeming desires to get distracted into other areas or even talking personality about how you don't like me or trust me.. blah blah blah (as if I give less than two ratt's asses about that) rather than some kind of semblance of substance... .
