So I read the article.
It states 250 megawatts saved over 18 months.
Lets break this down.
250/18 = 14 megawatts a month. less but I rounded up to 14
that is 480 kwatts a day
or 20 kwatts an hour.
or six s19 machines 24/7/ 18 months.
In my house in NJ I do 4 megawatts a month
My farm in Clifton NJ does 200 kwatts an hour
or 4.8 mega watts a day
or 144 megawatts a month.
The most interesting thing about the article is how small the power use really is.
Lets pretend 250 megawatts in 18 months is true.
Lets pretend 9000 farms were closed mostly in terhan.
it would be small two or three gpu card rigs in an apartment.
Ie a little guy mining some eth at nicehash and converting it to btc.
The math they give means either they are missing big mines or simply smacking around some little guy in his apartment.
To further clearify this they say 250 mega watts in 18 minths
and they say 9000 farms not me.
A six gpu card rig pulling 1 kwatt an hour times 9000 is 9 megawatts in one hour
or 216 megawatts in a day
a far cry from 250 megawatts saved in 18 months
So the numbers they give are really fucked up.
Is the 9000 “farms” wrong
is the 250 megawatts over 18 months wrong.
or did they mean 250 megawatts daily for 18 months. this would be worth while news if it were this much.
it would mean 50 farms like my clifton nj farm were shut down.
I am thinking i would love to know the right numbers.
