It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

and they leave out the solar arrays built as a direct result of btc mining.

we will generate .5 mega watts peak per hour.

so this comes to 3 megawatts a day which is around 1100 megawatts a year.

or 1.1 gigawatts yearly.

this is just three small locations. there are many solar arrays besides ours.

99.99% Uptime?

Where’s 0.01%? Why not 100%?

Yeah I remember there was an unexpected fork that happened in 2013 right around the time I was trying to figure out bitcoin.  It caused some downtime.

March 11th orphan blocks were slow.
Doubters panicked and let their Bitcoins go.
I took my chances
Took out all the loan advances
Now I'm holding for the longest time 😉

you got your fair reward for not being a doubter at that time

Sorry was just referencing a song from the time about the event you described: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NG1qooBzE2w

Apparently it was "scooping all the loan advances" I misremembered 😅

No no.. I got it.  Actually, I recalled the song the moment I read your last line.

But I also thought you were taking your chances by buying BTC back then...  Smiley

(I liked the original song since when I was a kid)

Looking at the dynamics of the market in the last 2 months, it seems to me that the potential of the big sellers is starting to run out. Some pitiful attempts are being made with one-off sales at -3% to bring the price down regularly and keep it under 20K, but it is becoming increasingly clear that the market has long been in oversold territory and cannot stay long at such a low price. For example, the leading volume exchange Binance during these months has 3 times the average volume compared to any month in the last 3 years.

It is also clear who is selling - tourists like Tesla and Musk, who understand Bitcoin as well as a calf railway, and also 10+ companies who are struggling not to go bankrupt and are transferring colateral bitcoins to each other like a hot potato. They thought that like with the stocks they would be able to drive down the price of Bitcoin forever, thus paying yield in Bitcoin to their customers. Until their entire house of cards collapsed.

The unfortunates who instead of buying bitcoins (because they are very smart and think they will get them cheaper with leverage) burned to the ground. The only ones who survived were those who bet all the time on short positions and now they think they are the smartest people in the world, but... They are complete wretches like mindrust, and they don't have the brains to realize that one day they will get screwed just like mindrust did to himself.

So, I expect the price to begin leveling off and gradually entering a semi-bull market similarly to both 2015 and 2019. There will be some oscillations, but I expect a clear average price increase of 2-3 times before the next exponential bull market, hopefully in 2025. Yes, it may hit 20K or a little below 20K a few more times, but it is unlikely to break 17.5K anytime soon. It could happen in a few months, if Tesla and other tourists rush to sell again, or if some stable coin explodes. For now, however, the dynamics of the market do not show such signals.

Purchasing Power of the U.S. Dollar Over Time

"The purchasing power of a currency is the amount of goods and services that can be bought with one unit of the currency."Source

The purchasing power of USD has gone down over years due to printing of more and more USD currency notes. The decreasing purchasing power of USD can be seen from the fact that 1 USD in 1913 is equal to 26 USD in 2020.
In 1933, 10 beer bottles can be bought with 1 USD and in 2020 you can buy just a cup of coffee with 1 USD.
In 2022,
One can easily correlate his local currency with this USD decreasing purchasing power since the phenomena is same for all fiat currency. For example, in my country I can buy 1 large bread for 40 Pakistani Rupee 10 years ago, today its price is 120 Pakistani Rupee.
Only between 1929-1933 the purchasing power of USD increases due to deflation and reduction in new currency supply by 31%.
As governments print more and more currency notes without any barrier the purchasing power of currency is deemed to go down.

Why don't you guys buy bitcoin while it is still cheap? I want to buy 1 bitcoin while it is still ~ $ 20 000 because I remember previous bull runs where it was not possible to buy it cheaper at all.
A bearish situation is the best time to increase your portfolio and earn more Bitcoin, you can invest in methods to start making profits in a sluggish market. The downward trend is unavoidable, it is necessary to be equipped with knowledge of technical analysis to help you get a chance to make a profit. There's nothing to stop you from buying 1 or 2 Bitcoins when the price is low, as long as you understand the basics of technical analysis.
Buying 1 Bitcoin at a time sounds a bit ambitious to me, you can do it slowly by taking advantage of the trend.

JUST IN: Bitcoin mining difficulty has increased by 9.26% to 30.98 trillion.

@philipma1957 can you explain how it went up 9.26% suddenly? or I am missing something.

Breaking the ChartBuddy's streak with my BTC buying.

[img - mostly unredacted image edited out-/img]http://

Not good OPsec.. you may want to reconsider some of dee details.. and you might thank me later.. ...

Was about to cross the $20k price and have the opportunity to go to $21k - $22 in 7D, suddenly the chart slides below $20k to be exact $19.6k. Will the price be guaranteed? of course not. There will definitely be more changes.
In my opinion, market conditions like this will not surprise people who are ready to face falling prices.

Falling more from here? or already fell?  We have largely been below the 200-week moving average for 2.5 months..

I am not confident either way.. even though macro circumstances do seem a wee bit reckless, uncertain and coming to a head in recent times..

We pumpin'... hope not again Bartin' after a couple of hours.
Well I did my part

@ImThour might come back once/if BTC goes down to show me the quoted post. Let me make it a bit clear that the position is hedged by the BNB short. So I only lose in case BNB/BTC pair goes up.

Yeah, but if you are at 3x how much of a pump do you feel good enough to close the position?  how short-term of a play are you making?  I suppose you are paying something for the BNB or whatever it is that you borrowed - when you are using 3x versus 1x..

So there is a price to pay to hold it for a long time, but if the BTC price shot straight up to $35k (within a day or two), then you might not even close it - if there did not seem to be any pause in such UPpity.. (remember October 2019 we had a move from $7,200 to $10,200-ish.. something like that in 12 hours?.. I know that those were different times, but we also know that sometimes unexpected shit does end up happening in bitcoinlandia from time to time).

Someone who buys Bitcoin by taking advantage of the current downtrend is a very good thing, but it would be better if after buying Bitcoin, that person is willing to keep it for the long term instead of taking it into short term trades for small profits. Because usually people who buy Bitcoin with so much analysis are people who like to trade for short-term profits and that is not the nature of investors who often take long-term profits. Because investors prefer to hold for the long term as their investment options before taking the profits they want.
