Good to know the rank info.
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

I suspect that there is something fundementally flawed in the activity calculation since new people can rise rapidly to hero status and people who have been here almost a year are stuck with Sr. status. Huh

There's something fundamentally flawed in your understanding of it. You can only get a max activity of 14 per two week period, so newer members will only rise faster if they've posted in all those those periods and you haven't.

so then, no account newer than 68 weeks should have 5 coins? Tongue

EDIT: looking at the membersip list i see where i was confused. now my question is, "Where have all the Heroes gone?"

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=mlist;sort=ID_GROUP;desc;start=60

Less seem to be posting here because the noise has gone up so much.

no, i meant that i could not find them in that list where i expected them to be. They appear when the list is sorted by other parameters.

All the main ranks that can be handed out to normal users are: Brand New, Newbie, Jr. Member, Member, Full Member, Sr. Member, and Hero Member.
In addition to the main rankings, there are also sub-rankings that can be applied, and those are: SCAMMER, Donator, and VIP.
Finally, staff sub-rankings are as follows: Staff, Moderator, Global Moderator, Administrator, and Founder.

Rank
Description
Tag
Brand New:0 posts, gets 1 gold coin under his name.
Newbie:(none), gets 1 gold coin under his name.
Jr. Member:1 post written over 4 hours ago, gets 1 gold coins under his name.
Member:Activity: 15, gets 2 gold coins under his name.
Full Member:Activity: 60, gets 3 gold coins under his name.
Sr. Member:Activity: 200, gets 4 gold coins under his name.
Hero Member:Activity: 400, gets 5 gold coins under his name.

Sub-Rank
Description
Tag
SCAMMER:Manually applied by administration, regardless of post count and gets 5 red Xs under his name.
Donator:Manually applied by administration after 10 BTC donation, and gets 5 gold coins under his name
of which the last is half green. 5 coins are shown regardless of post count when user is a Donator.
VIP:Manually applied by administration after 50 BTC donation, and gets 5 gold coins under his name
of which the last is half purple. 5 coins are shown regardless of post count when user is a VIP.

Staff Rank

Always shows 5 gold coins.
Moderator:Shown when moderators of specific sections post within those sections.
Gets 5 gold coins, of which the last is shown as half faded-out green.
Global Moderator:Applied to Staff that have moderation privileges in all boards.
Gets 5 gold coins, of which the last is half teal colored.
Administrator:Has all available permissions and can appoint moderators and perform other administrative tasks.
Gets 5 gold coins, of which the last is shown half red regardless of post count.
Founder:Reserved for Satoshi, gets 5 platinum coins under his name.

The way activity is calculated:
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

To become a Donator or a VIP, send a PM to theymos to get a unique donation address.

Took the liberty to update it according to the new Activity & new member limits/groups.
Edited with proper number of coins.

I notice the main post has switched from the original requirements. I saw a few people with 400-440 and noticed they were senior. Why does it keep rising? It was originally set at 400, then it seems to keep rising, now we are at 480 before Hero?

To enter a new level (as I got it), your activity should be multiplied by a factor of 2, i.e. 60x2=120 for Full Members, 120x2=240 for Seniors, and 240x2=480 for Heroes... Cool

Might be a silly question but if the activity is calculated in 14 folds, how can it be that  someone has 18 (like me) or 112.

I am registered since March 24th, and there is no 2-week period in which i didn't post, if I calculate it right my acitvity should be around 32, which is the total number of days since my registration. How come its almost half of it?

Activity is calculated as a minimum of two values. i.e. a number of two week periods you've been registered (in days) and a number of posts you've made... Cool

What does this mean exactly? I have registered on the 9th of december, that makes it today a total of 10x 2weeks. So 10x14=140 which is my current activity, but how do the posts effect it? Or is it just that in case you haven't made a single post in one 2 week interval, you won't receive a higher activity for those 2 weeks?

So the amount of posts don't really matter when it comes to activity?

Your activity comes to depend on the number of your posts if you post rarely. Then yes, if you haven't made a single post in the said interval, your activity won't increase. Actually, there are many users here which had registered years ago, but since they have been lurking, their activity is low... Cool

Does anyone know where the explanation of the time between posts is? Does it go down each time you get more activity or just with each membergroup?

Is there a good writeup somewhere that shows what we need level wise to be able to do certain things? Like signatures with links (affiliate programs) and other stuff that we may not know.

10 BTC to become a recognised donor is pretty stiff at today's Bitcoin price...

Over 15% of the annual household income in the US - extremely stiff. I considered donating until I saw what they consider a reasonable minimum donation.

The VIP level they have set just proves neglect. If I donate $35,000 a half purple coin under my name isn't going to cut it - they better be curing cancer.

I'm guessing that was set when a BTC was worth $1.  Maybe that should be updated to add to activity.  $1 per 1 Activity Point?
