I'm interested in building a frame but don't know where to start. I've been using milk/file crates for my rigs. Any pointers?

I have this in another RIG :

GPU 0, OpenCL error -4 (0) - cannot create DAG on GPU

Any idea ?

I found this to also happens (GPU N, OpenCL error -4) when stopping a mining task in Win 10 and then restarting a new one. I found that a reboot cures it.

this one is an oldie but still the best I have used for understanding the basics of a wooden frame for mining.

I'm talking with a guy here on the forums about custom rigs
He makes them however you want also made with metal instead of wood
More expensive but I'm thinking less of a fire hazard in my apartment
The rig we got so far will hold 10 gpus 2 mobo 2 atx psu in 32x11x12 (WxDxH) it's also stackable

Thanks I appreciate the input.. Do you use any wood frames? I was thinking metal like alluminum. I question the safety of wood rigs.. although hey! I have mine in plastic which may not be ideal either

Seems there is a shortage of AMD RX cards across the board and they say earliest by May for new stock.
The sales guys said that this has happened before ... when AMD want to steer the market to buy the new
product line (RX500???)

Not that the RX 500 line is big - minor process upgrade to the RX 400 series, ballpark 5% clock rate improvement and perhaps a little more efficient per the previews and leaks I've seen so far.

Seems like AMD is still not interested in betting the farm on HBM yet.

Mid-April for the release date IIRC the 17th?

Then Vega looking like about a month after that - but only for higher-end cards, aimed at replacing Fury/FuryX and targeting the GTX 1070 and up.

Unfortunately, the recent release of the GTX 1080 ti and price drop on the 1080 doesn't seem to have had any effect on 1070 pricing.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

So, I finally switched over my DCR mining from decredpool.org to coinmine.pl.  I was just getting so frustrated with the inconsistency of decredpool, as well as the lack of response to any of the 4-5 e-mails I send to their support. Maybe the former is something more common with the Blake14 algo, but my results were literally all over the place... even day to day, week to week. sometimes the unconfirmed balance went all the way to zero and other days I got like .2 confirmed (when should have been getting around .8-.9).  Anyway, I have been mining Dash with coinmine.pl for almost a month and had no issues whatsoever, so just pointed all 12 of my DCR GPUs there and will see what happens.

I feel your pain gabs. In addition to the long confirmation cycle, most pools will struggle when high interest on the coin occurs. I have come to a conclusion to bring back some sanity - at least for my case.

1. Buy instead of mining..... shortcut to having DCR immediately without the mining time, confirmation etc. I bought DCR during the BTC breakout past the USD$1000 mark. When DCR broke $5, I sold and made about x2 of my investment.

2. Capitalise on rental market when the crazies pay premium. Time and time again, and this applies to the big 3 coins -- ETH, ZEC, XMR, there is a frenzy of renters who pay so much premium to get into the game; pushing NH market higher than mining direct. This is still a mystery to me, anyways if you want BTC and not holding coins, then get your rigs pointed to NH.

3. Now, I have a rental script to NH for all big 3 coins stand-by, ready to cut-paste into smOS. I have experimented with sgminer-gm, and this miner actually a decent all in one miner easy for fast deployment with failover, and no fees. Although I am accumulating ETH now, I can swing to NH rentals anytime for any coin depending on market conditions and whattomine.com.

I purchased 1000 Zero coins   they are the only 8gb  gpu coin.

I spent 270 usd to get them  about 27 cents a coin

I have them listed at 50 cents 75 cents and 99 cents  333 coins at each level.

Still mining eth stopped all decred and all dual.

I may fully switch to zec this weekend.

Are they listed in Polo?
I think you are on to something here; esp if this is the only 8GB GPU coin.
I think I will invest in some too.

Meanwhile....

Currently 3.7GHs of ETH mining. My rigs are mining to the brink of a powertrip so I cant push them any faster.

I will stay on for awhile more at ethpool until I reach my target ETH total.

Once that is done, I have to switch to ZEC or DCR at NH marketplace.

I will save so much power; amps and watts after moving away from ETH mining.

Is anyone getting a little concerned about the eth hashrates?

It seems about 50'000-60'000 new gpus enter ethereum every week now.

Well maybe a gpu shortage will slow things down, Im just in no rush to see profits dip back to old levels.

dejavu... profit dip like what happened last year... probably those darn Pandaminer farms getting online this time!

ETH is already quite steady now $11-12 to $50s for key coin like ETH.... is a milestone and whole new level for ETH.

I will collect a few ETHs this week... and will switch to ZEC or XMR soon....

Eventhough, I have 33 rigs, let's face reality - we will not be able to compete with those massive GPU farms.

We live in an imperfect world.

it boils down to  your power costs.  and size does matter

The solar array deal keeps my power low, but  size of farm is limited.  so down the road earnings shrink.

+1

I bought some a week ago. I was going to mine it, but decided against it for now. Too speculative. And the last I read, the dev was MIA.

Yeah it's too profitable now, the ROI is insane. But even when profit was $1/day, hash rate was still rising because farms with almost free electricity still get ROI in 4 months.
