Hey guys i had a question, i once bought a sapphire 480s used and they were running lile champs but i had money problems and had to sell them, now i have more extra cash so i'd like to buy more cards, i was looking on amazon (probably the only site that delivers to my country) and the rx 470s caught my eye, they're cheaper and they get (i think) almost the same hashrate, the MSIs seem a good choice but would it be worth it to buy the gaming edition instead of the armor? They're going to be run in a pretty decent (or hot) surroundings (about 30-40 celsius), the price difference with shipping and taxes and all is about 60 dollars (picking 4 msi armor vs 2 armor and 2 gaming). I couldn't find sapphires in a decent price, also asus rog looks good, anyone had any experiences with those?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Armor is getting hotter than Gaming. ROG should be decent but expensive usually.

The rog is not as expensive as the msi gaming, its about 5$ more than the armor but still 15$ less than the gaming

They seem to have lower hashrates than what others are reporting @xleejohnx, how much are the armor getting on what temp?

The rog is not as expensive as the msi gaming, its about 5$ more than the armor but still 15$ less than the gaming For mining, temps will be your worst nightmare, so consider good reputable fan/cooling solutions from Asus Strixx or MSI Twin-Frozz- very good actually -- my favorites. See Philip's rigs - I think he did review of these brands for RX cards too.

I am anti flashing of bios mostly due to smaller farm. my cards get a little less hash then flashed but with smOS voltage setting on 2 vs stock 7 I don't use as much power and look at my temps. Think of mining as driving on a long road trip. Lets say New York City to Los Angles 3000 miles or 5000 kilometers. I have a Kia Forte it can do 120 mph or 200 KPH on the speedometer. I have got it into the low 90's It is comfortable to drive it at 80 mph. But if I was to drive from NYC to LA I would set the speed control at 70mph and relax. I can push my gear with dual mining and use 18 amps I can push my gear with high clocks and use 17 amps. Or I can just relax and do 14 amps (70 mph on cruise control) Much less danger for fire and or burn out of gear. Best of all I have been doing this long enough that the : mobos = paid for cpus = paid for ram = paid for psu's = paid for gpu's = paid for this allows me the luxury of mining with 2 cards on a 4 card board riser free and still turn a profit

My miners are in a 8x8x8 room with only an outtake fan with a vent for intake 19 cards sit the room temp around the 80f mark Msi cards sit at 66c 40% fan speed https://imgur.com/a/UtV88Rig0 is all msi armor cards

...

My miners are in a 8x8x8 room with only an outtake fan with a vent for intake 19 cards sit the room temp around the 80f mark Msi cards sit at 66c 40% fan speed my miners are in a garage no outake fan. the garage is 90f it is attached to the house I leave the door open and the heat drifts into the home. So winter mining I get a 20% discount on the power bill since I get a ton of heat. So the 12.7 is like 9.7 Summer add 2.3 for more cooling to 16.7 which the power company jumps me to in the summer like 19.0 Summer mining is hard power jumps from 12.7 to 16.7 Adjust for free heat in the winter I am at 9.7 adjust for extra cooling in the summer I am at 19 So I have to sell off my gear. this will need to be done by May 1-May 31 I can keep everything but the gpus as I mine 4 amps x 240 volts in the summer not 14 amps x 240 volts like the winter. So in a bit I will be selling all the gpus with the exception of the pandaminer. which will burn about 960 watts or 4 amps x 240 volts. so at the moment 20 cards and 1 pandaminer = 28 cards and 14 amps x 240 volts = 3360 I may move some gear to the solar array rather then sell it.

Its crazy shit this ZEC -- even renting hash to ZEC Nicehash marketplace is on fire. My 33 rigs peaking at 46,000 sols/s and Nicehash pays me 0.4 BTC per day for my hash!

Sure has been a few crazy weeks for crypto ... I got used to 'point and mine', with the miners usually staying on a particular coin for some time. Now it's a lot more exciting

Off topic a little
I'm looking to monitor the watt usage for a 240v line Any watt meter anyone know of that would do that? Would a pdu be better way of going about it?

I get into trouble with ETH.... higher watts, power trips, increased temps, Claymore crashing etc. It was good when I had only a dozen rigs back in early 2016 but with 33 rigs now, I maxed out my amps and power bill that I can afford in the warehouse. So its all.... X11, ZEC and XMR mining only for me - and Optiminer v1.7 + smOS + SRR is so stable and near perfect uptime in the warehouse -- so I dont want to mess around with anything in the farm. The rigs are mining to the hilt now. Even my dev rigs are into mining duties now.
