First time below 9000 workers in almost 2 weeks... perhaps the Whales are swimming out to sea? This little fish is still swimming here in the best pool... Hoping that it's not another long weekend of waiting for that next block... Perhaps some clairvoyant Scotch will help the situation... # ? !

VV rules vanilla vodka is my hard liquor of choice. My bathroom remodel is almost done. I will be downing some once it is over.

Greetings CK, I have found a new home here with my paltry 60T. I love the concept of the pool. This is how I would have made a pool had I ever been inclined.
High performance, Fair, and Minimalist.
I am mining from Thailand connected to the North American IP. I guess that is my best choice from here no?

Could be a loooooong week. Hope not. With over a third of the power gone that brought our diff number to where it is, for all intent and purposes, that probability indicator is no longer relevant for this current block search. To have a reasonable probability indicator the baseline data cannot be modified to such a degree. Hoping good old fashion luck kicks in to cover this. However that may be tough as we cannot complain about our luck w the blocks we hit this past week.

Yea, even the past two weeks you could say we've had a pretty good run.

I decided to do a double meat dinner tonight to get blocks moving again.
1 sliced NJ tomato salad
1 rack of baby back pork ribs 1 whole roasted chicken
Simple dessert of cherries from Washington state and 72% dark chocolate on the side
With 2 shots of home flavored vanilla vodka in 1 large cup of black coffee.
$#?
The key as always is slow and low oven cooking of that meat 220F for 7 hours on the chicken and for 9 hours on the ribs.

My derp should be heading back up a bit with the big guns cutting back on their hash power.

Hello, this is maybe slightly off subject, but I am wondering how to translate on cgminer the command line option "--suggest-diff 32" into an entry in the config file? Thanks!

why such a small number? Well, I am using a GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384, so this is a small miner. Should I be using a higher diff?

why such a small number? Well, I am using a GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384, so this is a small miner. Should I be using a higher diff? This is mine: "suggest-diff" : "128", "gekko-terminus-freq" : "275", "gekko-2pac-freq" : "212.50" The pool will also set a diff pretty well. Your frequencies may differ.

why such a small number? Well, I am using a GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384, so this is a small miner. Should I be using a higher diff? That's entirely up to you. Half the fun of Sidehack's GekkoScience sticks is finding out what works best for you, or more correctly perhaps, what works best for each miner. You get to set the pot, choose the hashing speed but the miner will let you know what works best in your circumstance. Almost nothing in crypto-mining is `linear', so things are changing constantly. Everything from pool difficulty to the ambient temperature of the room your mining in. I have 8 of these sticks, from three different sources. The only way to find what is best is to use them. I have run them as low as "--suggest-diff 64" and as high as "1024". What works best for me is various. For example, I might use somewhere between 176 and 256 when mining at 200MHz... The Answer that I have for original question is that I use a .bat file that looks like: cgminer.exe --gekko-2pac-freq 200 -o stratum+tcp://pool.ckpool.org:3333 -u yourwallet.worker -p x --suggest-diff 256 --usb :1 pause The answers you are looking for are likely in the first pages of: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1764803.0or On the cgminer setup pages and readme files. Now we're really off topic and you have some reading and testing to do... it's gonna take some of YOUR time...

Doesn't the poll [pool?] set diff for us?
It does if you don't use --suggest-diff `__' - but its default is set around 10,000 now so when you start a new stick miner up it can take a l-o-n-g time for you to get an Accepted share... that's what the pool needs to set a difficulty for you, so it speeds up the process and/or gives you some control. Previously Genie has offered up the math to prove there's no real difference in the difficulty you choose... but sometimes it's nice to see the little miners at work...

nope and nope Now we're really off topic and you have some reading and testing to do... it's gonna take some of YOUR time...
For my defense, I did spend quite a bit of time on this (including going through the readme file and 2PAC thread) without succeeding. I managed to have it work nicely on a batch file or command line, but not in a config file. I want to go the config file way, mainly because I can't figure out how to set up multiple pool in a command line, which you can do in a config file. My mistake actually was that I tried "suggest-diff" : 128 in the config file without the "" around "128" and cgminer does not like it... Thanks for your help, and the explanation on the diff with the pool :-)

BigOli: I am mining here, plus -CK's solo pool, plus a multi-pool alt coin concurrently. All miners are in one good quality hub and started by three different .bat files - all running thru an older Windoze 10 computer... so what you seek is certainly possible using my method... it's not the only path perhaps but it's easy enough for me... good luck and good mining...
