This is my small contribution to the klondike project

http://mining-bitcoins.co/bitcoin-project-klondike/

Also i 'm interesting for 1 full DIY kit (PCB + parts)

Can i pay in BTC? i have only 1.5BTC available so far.

TIA

Power reset, on/off button...needed right? Or did I miss that somewhere in the thread? My apologies if I did.

You can do that ghetto style at the PSU level. Maybe something more "elegant" can be done for future revisions, but the aim right now is just to get the boards out the door ASAP.

...but that makes me think it would be a good idea to be able to shut down individual Klego boards in a Klondominium instead of having to shut down the whole thing.

If one board were to be shut down, would that affect the whole Klondominium? If so, could there be some sort of active/passive bypass to keep up communication between the Klegos attached to the failed one and the rest of the apparatus/matrix? (would the miner software support it?)

Not a v1.0 request.

bkk - will you me able to perform the assembly or at least, recommend anyone to do so?

Ok. So I've completed the schematic wiring for data signals, and allocated PIC pins.

I've allocated 4 for ASIC data, one for CLK enable allowing to shut down a chain. And one for thermistor IN for external temp sense.

I have 3 free now. I can use one for an LED to indicate Hits and/or Work data. I don't need a pin for PWR as that can come from the 3.3V rail.

New parts added: LDO for AVCC on ASICs. 16 resistor pull ups for RST (rather than wiring them all around the board to one pullup).

I'm waiting on protocol info to determine how I'll handle DIN P/N to ASIC - either separate pins, manually twiddled or one pin and inverter to use UART. Or what? Depends on protocol.

I'm going to leave power to be controlled by ATX supply - no on/off on board (other than CLK disable which would cut power use almost completely). But I do have a pin that could be a manual reset if that was needed. I'm not sure about that. There will be a watch dog function that should be able to reset any software lock up.

Need a bit of rest before I dig into laying data tracks.

Also still need to confirm 100% that ASIC footprint in Avalon PCB is counter-clockwise.

bkk - will you me able to perform the assembly or at least, recommend anyone to do so?
At this time I'm not planning assembly. I'm not well situated for that. I can offer kits and wholesale part/board packages. When the design matures I will work with folks who want to assemble boards - assuming they understand that buying/licensing boards from me means I will try to help them. If they plan to just rip the design and do their own thing then I can't spend more effort on that. Simple respect IMO.

When I have a better understanding of who's doing what and providing a good service, I'll be happy to recommend them. This is the internet and Bitcoin after all - who has a clue what anyone's up to.

So, my heart is racing as I look over the schematics.

Initial take:

1. My pin outs are numbered in reverse but seem to be accurate. Not sure if I have to swap them all or if his chip footprint has them reversed as well. Don't we always go clockwise on chip? So there's that.

Hi,

I´m looking to the files in Altium and it´s counter-clockwise.

Once this is finalized I wonder how we can keep up with demand and what the plan is.  This is going to be epic

Keeping up with demand should be no problem. The more demand there is, the better pricing he can get, and the bigger companies will be wanting to work with him for PCB production. A project like this is amazingly scaleable.

Not to mention, there will be those who chose to license the design from BKK, and go to their own preferred assembly shops to have the boards made.

This thing can be as decentralized as a torrent, or bitcoin itself. Wink

The only choke point I can see is the slight possibility of needing an FPGA for it. If we need that, it may slow everybody down.  Sad

Will the board have a reset button at least?
Will PCB come fully populated with components with exception of Avalon chips?

Hi,

Excellent. Thank you for that. Made sense but needed to be sure before laying track. When I first looked at the schematic I was thinking "how could I have got the pin out so wrong", and after a few minutes I realized it was reversed. Phew.

Hi BkkCoins. I have some chips on order through Ragingazn's group buy #1. It would be really nice to get a little spreadsheet going for all of us who want to send our chips from that group buy to you for mounting. Can we work with you to have those chips sent directly from Ragingazn to you, and verify final shipping addresses?

How worthfully is the reference design? https://github.com/BitSyncom/avalon-ref

Can someon build a miner only with this info and the asic-chips?

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

No, they still need protocol specs. This is hardware specs only.

Maybe. Read his last post.

No. He's offering boards and parts only. You must assemble them yourself, or find someone who can.

I will be assembling boards here in the States. I need more info to send to the several board stuffing companies here before I can get quotes. I need gerbers, CAD drawings and a BOM.

I will also have the ability to place the ASICs on assembled boards. The part count of 325+ makes it impracticable to hand assemble and reflow unless I was just going to make a couple.

I can probably have the boards assembled and flowed with ASICs for anybody who gets them to me to give to the manufacturer, otherwise they will all be build without and then placed on later.

@BKKCoins... did you see my post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=190731.msg2086152#msg2086152 Can you say something about the questions?

How worthfully is the reference design? https://github.com/BitSyncom/avalon-ref

Can someon build a miner only with this info and the asic-chips?

No, they still need protocol specs. This is hardware specs only.

You mean the chip communications? Then it has to be judged then, when this is out too if it could be ordered at some specialized company?

But then there is still firmware and so on. The minersoftware should work already when the design is the same like the normal avalon miners.

But i asked that question in the thread now too so that this isnt in the wrong thread...
