Now onto important business. Who has heard about Eth going POS and it causing mining to go to sh!t in 6 months time?

Old news. That rumor has been going on since like 2016.

not a rumor, ETH is going PoS instead of PoW, its a fact. We wont see it in 6 months though.

I have been mining ZEN for the last 2 months with my 6x1080ti asus strix (asrock btc h81, 2xEvga 1000w g3), and 10 days ago it started crashing all the time, even the whole machine started restarting. I checked cables and changed all risers and still the sam. Then I took one card I suspected might be the cause of problems and put it on my desktop machine so I could check it solo. It worked perfectly for 3 days and the rest of the rig with 5 cards worked perfectly so I thought it might be that one of the PSU is having problems with supplying 3 cards. I cleaned all the components with air compressor and put the 6th card back and now everything is working perfectly for the last 5 days...
So...we should regularly clean our 1080ti's :-)

Can u please tell me how much power u get on power meter with all 6 cards running and do you have any power limit applied?
Did u noticed any temps rising or/and  rpm rising on GPU vents before the crash.

What temps are your cards giving after few hours of work.

Thanks

I set power limit to 90% and core clock +120, mem clock +450 and I get about 740sols per card with about 1700w from the wall with 6 cards running at about 55'c fan at 50% in the relatively cool and big room.
Hope this helps

Yes it does, thank you.

ps. You are probably doing about 900W from one PSU and 800W from other, isn't that little to much heavy lifting  for 2x 1000W PSU if you look at long term 24/7 mining?

I have ethos and since the last update my rig are crashing after 36 / 48 hours...

exactly, POS is definitely in it's roadmap..the devs just keep pushing it back for some reason.

a slow transition is planned for eth. The first implementation will come with the casper release this year, but proof of work will stay there and slowly phase out to keep the network secure.

moon thx again for the info

I tried the sniffdogminer on ahashpool for a few days and now trying out Awesome Miner. Seems to do basically the same thing yet with a bit better interface and perhaps the ability to control all rigs from one PC without having to remote into each one individually. We will see.

It seems to be working although not as profitable as I had hoped, still at least its making something to pay itself off in several months.

Running 7x1080ti and 7x1070ti for around .006btc/day . It looks like you can modify/add the miners which are most profitable per each algo into awesome miner so that may be what I will try next. Also perhaps trying another pool such as Miningpoolhub or zpool/hashrefinery. Not that my update is worth anything major but perhaps other new miners lurking just as I did and sharing info/experiences could move them along another step as it did for myself.

The more I spend reading about other folks successes and mishaps, the more this noob learns.
Thanks to all who contribute their time!! Much appreciated

I use minepoolhub to mine skein, pool hashrate is 1T, 0.8% fee, it's good. MPH so far ok. I dont know if that the best as dont hv enough rigs to run few pool at the same time.

Nvidia card algo difficulty seems to be on the rise - I noticed that all of the normal coins I mine are producing quite a bit fewer rewards.  I added another 1080 ti to my rig and I'm still getting less than I got a few weeks ago.

It must be that the mining craze and insane demand for 1070/1070ti/1080ti cards is having a real impact on mining difficulty.

I doubt that it will even happen this year, if ever.

Even if it does, it will create a PoW ETH hard fork as many don't believe PoS is sufficient.  It's open source software, so the Difficulty Bomb can just be removed or delayed forever.  It's not much of a Difficulty "Bomb" since they already delayed it once (twice?).

They keep pushing it back because they don't have it solved, and from the look of it are far from having it solved.  Not that that ETH team wouldn't release something before it's ready...   Wink

coupled with a pretty big drop in price for most 'mainstream' coins

Hello everyone,
What is a good intensity for a couple of 1080ti's -- is it 26, or maybe something like 22? I wouldn't want to burn down my cards in a week either  Grin

It depends a lot on what you're mining.
Sometimes having an intensity too high will lower your hash rate significantly.
Just keep trying until you find the best one for your cards (usually between 20 and 25 for me), it shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

Yeah, thanks. I just noticed that too high would invoke rejects. Will test now.

Yes, about 900w and 800w, those are very good and durable Evga G3 PSU with 10 years warranty, and should easily manage that. For a while i used to mine at 106% Pw limit without any problem, but figured its not such a big gain...
