That's true. If the law states so, why are those religious muslims, the ones that support sharia law, the ones that assault and rapoe women in europe? Maybe this law talks only about muslim women and the rest is like animals to them?

In India for the past few years there are many rape incidents happen and there are no safely young women in this country. The rapists are not even punished and are left freely. I do not know how will the victims lead their life after such incident has happen in their life. In some countries, the rapists are let off freely if they marry the victim. I think the best punishment for rapists should be something brutal and something that even future or those who are planning to do the crime will make them not do it. It should be something that would scare them to commit the crime. Rape is a crime that cannot be forgiven, so it's best for them to have that kind of punishment.

Yes this thread reeks of Internet tough guys. I'm glad you saw this. So many people saying death and castration. I wouldn't be suprised if not a single one of them ever actually did anything to stop rape. They're just trying to say things to impress women and look tough. I think the penalty to be given to a rapist should be as big as possible. And I think the appropriate punishment for a rapist is 2, that is life imprisonment and death sentence. Because if the punishment is not heavy, there will be no deterrent effect and fear to do that.

Even if the suspect is kept in a penal colony without any chance of a parole, the victim can live the rest of her life in peace. Death penalty is OK for me, but that sort of punishment will be too lenient for a rapist.

The trauma inflicted on the already over-traumatized victim will be completely unbearable with any of these choices:

-to rape the rapist in public: this will traumatize the public, not to speak of the victim, who will relive the unforgivable act of violence against her, plus the assigned person to do this raping will most probably also be traumatized in this event.

-cutting off of body parts is something associated with complete insanity and can be classified a dangerous example for the public once again. Not a good example to deal with such a case.

-the victim did not die, so why should the perpetrator die? This does not seem adequate punishment imo. The victim might even be suffering from never ending remorse and feelings of guilt in being responsible for the murder of a person, even it being the perpetrator himself that dies.

Let leave marrying the victim AUT of the options of punishment for rapists, cause that will lead for more accident of rap. Let take for instance if you like a lady and you approach her but she say no to your marriage proposals the next option is to rape the lady after all you will be ask to marry the person freely.

I believe you are wrong, this is only If they made a sexual relation out of wedlock (while both parties agreed on doing so). I mean, what normal person would agree to marry his rapist?

Truly! Who wants to marry her rapist? It would just make her remind of the horrors she experienced with the hands of that person! I respect that life is valuable hence I think that the right punishment is "life in imprisonment" which no decision can make it short if he is found guilty of the said crime. Also, I believe that death sentence is a way for them to escape the real punishment that they deserve.
