In India for the past few years there are many rape incidents happen and there are no safely young women in this country. The rapists are not even punished and are left freely. I do not know how will the victims lead their life after such incident has happen in their life. In some countries, the rapists are let off freely if they marry the victim. According to you, what can be the best punishment for these rapists so that no one else should think of raping a women. I like the punishment which is given in most of the Muslim countries - hanged to death in public. Do you think that this is fair or they should marry the victim???

I really think that the most effective way to scare the rapists or potential rapists is to give them the traditional torture or punishment for rapists. I've read an article that the punishments before were so scary and deadly that most people would be scared to commit crimes. I think fear is the best way to scare people from committing crimes.

Every convicted rapist should be imprisoned for life, castrated, or put to death.

Punishment for rape should always be lifetime imprisonment; now that is just the minimum. Another is to do something equally to what he/she has done. Then, the person has to be confined in a room, always, where there is a single repeated music to be played for the lifetime imprisonment; with strobing blue and red lights, always

Putting aside the barbaric concept, how on earth would you determine what is an equal punishment? It could be entirely subjective.

I once saw a news in an Arab country about a rapist.
They tied him in a bamboo pole like a pig in the open. i think that was a park. then they tied a very big rock to his penis and let it hang. once in a while they would shook the bamboo pole for the rock to sway... he stayed there for days.
i think that was a very good idea. Let them feel the humiliation and the pain.

In India, there is a tribal dominated state known as Nagaland. A few months back, a Muslim immigrant raped one 19-year old Naga girl. The tribal youth got infuriated and dragged the perpetrator out of the jail where he was detained. He was stripped and then beaten black and blue. He died as a result of lynching. But after the incident, the Muslim organizations went ballistic, calling the Nagas as racist.

Yes, the penalty is enough and it should be even worse. The fears and illnesses they left with the victim would be a stain for a lifetime and would never lose her mind and the fear and retaliation would come back. If we apply the punishment of another country in the case of rape it will not be fair to our people and even to us who live in the country wherever we are. Even if this happens, I do not want to get married to a criminals who dump my personality. why? because every time I see the criminals then I'll feel the pain again in the past.

That's right for such rapists! Even though I'm not willing to marry the criminal that ruin my life. I would rather die than live with the devil. If the Government make it law that the rapist should marriage the victim , it's a big nonsense because you put a nightmare into someone's life forever.

The punishment that should be given is lifetime in prison. They should spend their whole life in prison. Rape is a very serious crime. Death penalty is too much punishment and we don't have the authority to take someone's life as said in the Bible. Lifetime imprisonment must be the punishment.

Retaliation is a real thing. A few days back, there was an incident in my country. A girl was gang-raped by a few goons and she filed a complaint at the local police station. The police officer refused to register the complaint and on the other hand he informed the criminals about the complaint. The perpetrators started threatening the victim, and when she refused to withdraw the complaint, they once again gang-raped her. The girl committed suicide shortly afterwards. And this is the sad sate of affairs in my country.

to start with I believe that rape is one of the worst things a human can do. Having said that, I don't believe the death penalty is justified for such action, I don't even believe the death penalty should be used for someone who has killed another person, or a thousand of them (I'm against the death penalty in general). Having said that, governments that are presented with such cases, or the authorities need to take this kind of incident much more serious, the have to find ways to make these perpetradors to "learn from their mistakes". Public shaming is one way to do it, if you combine this with a hefty find and prison sentence it might deter the perpertrador from doing something like this in the future. It's sad that in some countries this is not taken seriously, but it is due to the fact that women don't have the same "status" as men in many countries, which makes this incidents less severe in the eyes of the people. We have to give women equal rights and in this way we'll slowly see the landscape and laws change in regard to such cases.

i think, still they need to go to jail and spend years inside for them to suffer for their sin. I don't the government should implement death penalties because still GOD is the one who can end oir life. God give us life and God will be the one to take it.Make the rapist atone or regret what they have done so they can have the chance to change.

Being a female, I would say that even if the victim survives the ordeal, she will remain in a semi-dead state for the rest of her life. Especially in the third world nations, the victim is often blamed for her rape and in most of the cases the relatives and the friend will shun her. The victim will never recover mentally and emotionally and will suffer throughout the rest of her life. It is a state worse than death.

Death sentence and marrying the victim are both unfair to me; killing someone who may change for the better and contribute to society, someone getting married to her rapist only adds salt to the wound. The punishment for rapists should let them live but leave a mark for all to see who the rapist is.

For me I think is a death penalty , because just putting them in the jail is not enough , I see many woman raped , I seen in the news and in the social media. Younger by younger are they're victim , now days raped and victims of rape is increasing and mostly after they raped it they kill it. Every Year many woman raped.
