in so many years ive been heard a lot of problems in our country but what i hate is if i heard in news that there is again rape case,thats why when president Duterte said that there was a life sentence i am so happy for that.that is the greatest punisment for all the rapists in our country.

The quantum of the punishment is one thing and the conviction rate is another. Here in India, the perpetrators are punished in less than 5% of the cases. Most of the times, they manage to intimidate the victim in to silence or the legal proceedings linger on for so long that the victim finally gives up. The quantum of punishment is enough, but what is the use if the rapists are not convicted.

I would recommend strong punishment. Minimum 10 years and maximum life imprisonment. It is definitely a serious problem in India.

I think the punishment should be death penalty. Why? Because in my country which is (philippines) there are so many rapist and they always do what they want anytime and then go away.

According to you, what can be the best punishment for these rapists so that no one else should think of raping a women. I like the punishment which is given in most of the Muslim countries - hanged to death in public. Do you think that this is fair or they should marry the victim???

No matter what the high and mighty human rights activists might say but death penalty is the highest punishment that could and should be offered to a rapist. When kind of a man tarnishes the dignity of a woman and leads her to the path of pain? Certainly not a man who deserves empathy, so why not send him to the gallows? Why such a hue and cry over the apparent rights of such animals with little or no regard to the girls they defamed? There is no other choice but death penalty should be the punishment for all rapist,but they should be proven guilty with out reasonable doubt,that they commited such act.

Even though i believe in the Hammurabi code, i don't think raping a rapist is going to bring any justice for the rapists at all but i do believe that one way that we can sure that justice is ensured is that we cut away the very instrument which they used to commit such a heinous crime so that they don't go around doing it to others as well.

It's based on QS. Al-Maidah: 33. Where in the verse Allah explains that those who fight Allah and His Messenger and make mischief on earth must be punished by being killed, crucified, cut off by hands and feet, and thrown out of the region.
If the perpetrator of this rapist is a married man, then his punishment is stoning (stoned) to death.
While if it is single, then he must receive a whip 100 times and discharged to remote areas for one year. They are made deterrent by being hurt all over his body by lashes. Then added to the exile for a year.

Prison sentence in India is a joke. If you have the connections, then you can live with all the luxuries inside your prison cell. If some rapist is sentenced to 10 years in jail, he will enjoy his stay there and will be out in max 5-6 years. After that he will be free to repeat his offense again. We need to permanently remove these people from the society.

I think the best punishment for heinous crimes is isolation. It is where they are only stuck in a room with a light that never goes off. There is someone who delivers the basic needs such as food and water but he cannot see that person.

No, marrying the victim is never the right thing and option to do. Marriage is only given and vested to the two party whom they love each other, know each other and spiritually,emotionally, physically and mentally fit to each other. We are not sure that after the sexual assault by the rapist there will be a baby after all. The best thing to do with the rapist is death penalty so that no one can ever attempt to commit such very immoral activity. We must implement the more huge penalty to this crime because no one deserve to experience this situation. At the end of the day, no one will be punished by this sanction if you do not commit this thing. I think death penalty for the rapist would be fair enough. Since the rapist destroyed the victim’s life and dreams, death sentence will be a great offer for them. I don’t think the rapist will marry the victim, its just not fair. It will just give the rapist more opportunity to its next prey and abuse more women.

In our country, rapists are being held in prison. Not sure on how long it will be but Death Penalty is out of the question since it has been debated for awhile now. Being a victim myself, there is this hatrrd to my rapist that still lingered even though I didn’t pursue any charges against them because I was too young then and very scared. But in my mind, rapists should still pay for what they’ve done regardless of the situation. Whether that person is high on drugs, intoxicated with alcohol or they just want to do it, they still gotta pay for their sin. Those victims carry that burden and hurt all their life and what do the rapists do? It is truly unfair.

I think jail is not even enough. What make humans different to animals is having an intellectual mind. Humans must know how to control their emotions and urges. If a person doesn't know how to control their emotion, they are being animal.

Marry the victim? In case there is a chance that she will recover from a psychological trauma?

Life sentence or death penalty should be the punishment for rapist if proven guilty without reasonable doubt. If this was implemented, I think the rape cases will eventually go down. Rapist people are in the same line as murderers. Think about the life of their victim. The trauma that the victim will experience, her life might be ruined because of the rape case. Have you ever been in the court room with a rape case? Its a terrible experience for the victim and her family.

This is a very common tactic used in certain Muslim nations and in India. The rapists will promise to marry the victim, in order to escape from the punishment. But I can guarantee you that in 90% of the cases, it ends up in tragedy. Sometimes the victim is abandoned after a few months. In worst cases, the victim is pushed in to the flesh trade by her new husband.
