Prison is enough. Prison is the best way to punish somebody because those people losing the way to make bad stuff and feeling bad and sad all the time.

Nope... prison sentence is like a joke these days. Many of the correction institutions are controlled by the prison gangs, and these people would make sure that the rapist is given a royal treatment.

The punishment for rape in Saudi Arabia establishes the death penalty for rape, although it is still difficult to ensnare the perpetrators who raped their wives. If there are no severe injuries on a victim who is not a minor, I feel the existing 7-10 year punishment with rehab is a just sentence. Further, the punishment would be more severe if the culprit is proven guilty under other charges like attempt to murder, brutality, paedophilia, or stalking. Alright, so, before you judge me, consider my argument. I see a lot of popular opinions floating these days advocating death penalty, life imprisonment, castration, etc. for all rapes.

For me, I would follow the famous line an eye for an eye. I believe that a person that was raped has take his/her life. He/She is somehow murdered by the rapist. As they experienced it, it would be a forever marked in their life. This might create some traumas and other mental related issues. So for me, a life taken should be equivalent to a life also. Those persons who raped someone should be put in a death sentence. It isn't inhumane, what the rapist do is what inhumane is. This would be a warning for others to stop doing it that might result to a decrease in number of this case.

Death penalty is the right punishment for all rapist.

Here in India, the parliamentarians recently introduced a law that would make death sentence mandatory for rape of children below 12 years of age. But the human rights groups and the Communist party is rising so much hue and cry over it.

Oh my God 54 pages of answers already, well, guess I'm just gonna leave my piece of opinion as well.

As long my feelings crave for the worst, I believe he should be jailed depending on the damage he has done on the victim, but in any way, he can leave the jail. His sentence must be long and painful, death only in certain situations, like him killing his victim and other sorts of things I don't feel comfortable mentioning.

It would be death penalty so that no one will do the same thing like that such of crime. This kind of law must be implemented so crimes will be lessen. Then walking in the street at midnight or anytime is always safe.

Death penalty can be a strong preventive measure. But at the same time, biased sex ratios in many of the Asian nations means that a lot of single men can't find a suitable match despite trying their best. I am not saying that all of them will resort to rape, but we need to do something to take care of them.

I think the proper punishment is in cutting the vital tool, let both feel the destruction of the vital tool, I think it is very worth it, because the same "has no future.

I don't mind that law. In my early school days, I am always hearing the law of Hammurabi in which he says "Eye for eye, tooth for tooth.", Weirdly, that engraves in my head for a lot of years now.

In my opinion, I see this as a good punishment but as a Catholic Country, a lot of people will be against it. Castration

That would be easy for them. Rapist who get away with their crime will soon rape another. Cut their penises and legs and arms and let them live if they can. Or the government can blind them but also provide them a rope if they want to hang themselves after it.  I think this is a better punishment for such crime.

What a cruel punishmemt. I agre with castration. Once you cut it,  its like ending their lives too. How can you live without it. That is one thing that makes them happy. This could be a substitute for death penalry. At least,  they were given a chance to live.

Rape is even worse than murder. Do you think enjoying devilish pleasure at the expense of the sanctity of victim correct? It is said that when anyone is punished with death penalty, that is done not to obtain justice but to take revenge; or demanding eye for an eye is not right. But what about the victim? Won't she demand justice for what was done to her?
A rape victim's life is a living hell. The victim can never erase these events from her life. She has to live with it. Rapists who have taken the spirit of someone to live, have no right to live themselves. Hanging takes your life in few moments but rape kills you every time you think about it. I really hate rapist.

On the western country they killed the rapists in front of their people publicly. But i don't think we need to kill someone even they'd did wrong to us. Maybe they had a problem too because they didn't determine the right and wrong. So for me killing them doesn't make sense we just making our self worst than they did.

Rape is every bad anti-social act,  the said victim are usually discriminated in the society, sometimes they are quarantine for a specified period of time,  this type of act brings the feelings of inferiority, shame and fear to the victim. The penalty should be death, a slow painful death so it will set an example to the people to think twice before commuting such offense. Theres alot of place that people can pay for sex and fulfill their sexual pleasure. Most Rapist are drug addicts and with mental health conditions.

Well my candid oppinion boils down to my faith, indeed you have spoken well, i mean what more punishment can be best for a lunatic to defiled and falsefully takes a woman pride. Death is even an easy death, but going by been a christain, the bible made us to understand that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, when a prostitute was brought before him to be stoned to death, Jesus replied 'he who is without sin amongst you can cast the first stone'.   I believe anyone in his right senses wont rape a woman, my suggested penety is to be forgiven and placed in a psychiatric surveillance to determine why he did what he did.

There are some cases I do not accept to call them rape.For example no matter how strong a man is,he cannot penetrate a woman without her giving in to the act.The question i still do not understand is that when the rape case is between one man and one woman I do not normally want to call it rape.Perhaps some demands were not met and the woman decide to tarnish the image of the man.But if it is a gang rape then we should kill the perpetrators all because it is a deliberate act.

What a strange law. I never heard about a law that you could get away with rape if you marry the victim. If it's rape, that means the victim didn't want to be a part of it. This implies to me that the victim certainly shouldn't have any desire to marry the rapist!

In terms of punishment, I really like what I have learned about Norway's correctional system. I've seen a couple documentaries about them. It seems like the prisons there are really focused on having a positive, respectful environment. The prisoners are prepared to return to society and do good things. I think imprisonment is a good punishment for rape.
