So it seems aftermarket cards use Hynix memory and do not seem to overclock so well? Few I have seen struggle to maintain 950.

We’re all reference cards Samsung memory?
Mine are Samsung (Vega 56) One card can't go stable beyond 900. Some of them start failing around 930. One I tested worked at 980 but I don't know which one now and it takes forever to try one by one. So currently my rig has 1 card at 900 and 5 cards at 925. Maybe Samsung mem is overrated?

Yeah maybe. I thought it was common to get them to run 1100mhz.

For my V56 with Samsung it works.

I read here, that the most V56 with Hynix having issues if the frequency is higher than 890Mhz.

I have one V56 Hynix running well @890/0915mV
A second V56 Hynix has issues with this settings and brings GPU errors

What voltages do you apply in Wattman/OverDriveNTool/Regmods???

afaik they need 1.35v on HBM2 memory to reach those clocks (Vega 64).  Vega 56 you're limited to 1.25v.  perform a bios mod to Vega 64 to get 1.35v.

Even I own a samsung reference Vega 56 and can't do more than 925 without errors.  I have settled for it as of now since it delivers 1925 on cryptonight.  Haven't tweaked it much apart from the fact that I would like to get the power draw below 145w or so.  Right now they take 150-160w

I felt adventurous and did the flash.  Testing it now.  
Memory OC does take 1100 Mhz now (MVDDC is 1.35 V).  Getting 1975 (1408/1100) now from 1920 (1408/925) on cryptonight but does 44 in ETH over 37-38 on 56.
Power consumption is similar to my vega 56 (I didn't optimize it for 56).

I am not certain if raising voltage will assist with higher core clock without throwing invalid shares, but what I did was merely reducing the mem clock until no error was thrown. If increasing voltage will allow the HBM memory to hash at expected hashrate I would have done so. But so far it doesn't seems to be the case (able to push to 930 mem clock, but no amount of voltage bump will fix the invalid calculation error).

thought i share my result: 2 x vega 56 asus strix rog with hynix memory. stock bios no soft power edits so the mV change dosnt do anything :p , this is where i hit the wall and cant get higher stable tho. also no idea what wattage.

My devil 13 cards only does 900mhz/950mv

I tried red tweaks made it even worse, tried voltage also did not help.

Reference weren't optmized before the soft pp mods.  AIB cards are relatively new so will take some time before someone/community finds out tweaks.

Good point. In the mean time even though I get less hash, at least it is at a reduced power cost and a hell of a lot less noise. Hopefully in the next month or two we will get more information on getting 2000 H/s or more from these.

Known issue.  You need a script to restart the miner often.  The below script can monitor the hashrate and restart when the hashrate drops below specified limit.

If for some reason they can still mine (probably not) who knows. If they don't, probably pennies, since the market will flood with them and they will be old tech. That is, if they're not destroyed after 3 years of working 24/7 Smiley

I consider all my mining equipment a total loss for my planning. If I get something back, it's a bonus.

somebody now how to activate hbcc on a mixxed rx 580/vega rig with driver 17.10.2 or later?
cant use blockchain driver because its 12gpu rig(with blockchain driver it works)

disable+enable in devicemanager dont work, toggle the switch in settings dont work to
have windows fall update installed

i flashed vega 56 to 64.
on blockchain driver it gets recognized as vega 64 on 17.10.2 or later as 56(but i can do still registry mods)
You don't need to (de)activate hbcc. Just go to device manager, and disable + enable all Vega's. That will do the trick.

I also have many many problems trying to get this particular card to work stable.
Have 4x vega 56 rog strix setup and i can't get it to mine over ~3hrs or so.
Errors i encounter:
  • dpc watchdog
  • both xmr-stak and cast miner freezes (not crashes, just freezes)
  • even "stock" reg file it isn't stable
