Guys

I have followed the instructions here and im not getting the same results...Vega 56 with 64 bios. If i use 1012+1012 i see a hashrate of about 800 h/s but if i raise the intensity to anything above that i get 0 h/s. If i check pool side it shows 400 h/s

Am i missing something ?

-block chain drivers
-hbmm at max i have 16gb
-windows 10
-gpu min state 1050 P6
-gpu max state 1150 P7
-Mem at 950
-voltage at 1000 on both gpu and mem

I do have the 64 bios on the vega 56

Any help would be appreciated

Switch back to Vega 56 Bios (use the bios switch for that).
Windows will take a time to detect all the cards again. Use device manager to see if all vegas were detected again.

Follow my instructions here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2002025.msg21963141#msg21963141

To Vega 64 owners, my instructions don't work as it appears to be needed to mess around voltages to reach same hash / performance.
It might be stupid to add Vega 56 bios on them, but that's something I haven't saw tested yet.

Blockchain driver does require 16Gb RAM for HBCC. Latest driver might show the slider with 8Gb, but has no compute instructions to use it on mining.

I have a vega 64 , stock bios , blockchain driver and 4gb ram.
I can't set voltage, and I can't set HBCC slider, but I reach 1800mh/s too.

for XMR, many talk with mh/s but this is really h/s.
Total network hashrate for xmr is around 230 mh/s now.

I told it in the previous page !
This whas just a reminder as I noticed people were still stuck with the ram level thing.
As far as I see, on a single GPU rig at least, 4gb is enough, and HBCC activated or not is ok.

Hah - my bad, you have indeed!
Really interested in those Vega 56's now. They offer some good bang for the buck after all. Hmmm.

Yes, I saw it, good find! Does it work with 2016+1600 intensity?

No need to set HBCC slider do the max. Try to go for ~14gb position.
Also check if temps are ok.
With this settings you will run at the max possible gpu freq and voltage regardless what you've set. It is a blockchain driver bug.

Can you guys tell me what GPU frequncy you are using...and are you using both the state 6 and state 7 ? And how about voltage...i have so far gotten mine to mine at 1012+1012...tried at 1512+1512 and i het 0 H/s

Thanks in advance

Move back to Vega56 bios and use strictly the Hellae's guide. Also make sure you've allocated a lot of virtual memory in system performance properties (24-32gb should be ok I think).

Is it worth investing in Vega for mining purposes, or should one just stick with AMD RX 580 series.

If you run a farm and can get rx580 for rrp then its the lowest cost for mining purposes.   Vega is a card that will last longer for resale as games graphics card.    Later on AMD will be releasing a special little Vega card to replace rx580, that is the card that probably mines the most for the least cost, it might be another 6 months before then

For short term vega 56 is good
but in long term vega 64 is best for me

I see on many forums vega 56 have problem with chip Sad

I dont think 56 and 64 have great differences.  Does mining benefit from 8 more shaders because the 56 isnt really slower apart from that

The HBM2 is lower binned and has lower voltage tolerance for 24/7 mining over 2-3 years.

The best binned HBM2 costs $150 for 8GB!

So you can guess; Samsung must have given a huge discount to AMD to use up Samsung's lower quality and less voltage tolerant HBM2!

This why, AMD can price RX Vega 56 at $400.

The main difference is quality and voltage tolerance of the HBM2 used.

Got it working, 1800 hashes at 160watts.

There is bug, where you have to switch toggle the HBCC tab every time you boot into Windows 10 regardless of whether it is in the "On" or "Off" position.

A bit of a noob question, but what is the HBCC?

Its not noob but it is listed on the box.  High Bandwidth Cache Controller, its just a different way of using the main graphics memory to allow faster accessing of the largest data processed by the card.   So in this case there is an option to also use main memory within that system and apparently it helps even crypto mining at least a bit.
Best I heard the Cache described was that it used a kind of bookmark for each large section of data, if referenced that data would be called immediately by using this slip of data already contained ready and at the same time while that loads the card will also access the main memory to retreive the rest of the data.  It reduces latency possibly allows for higher minimum frame rates in a game and apparently higher hash rates for a card.

Mining is very much about the memory bandwidth and reprocessing of the data so its a shame HBM2 did not have 4 units instead of just 2 so we could have seen how high performance could be and that would have been similar to the AMD Fury setup previously using HBM1.  I guess this might be cheaper this way
