if you want I could tag it  and if lauda tells me you are good I would pull the tag.

I had a very clever hacker they a new trick the other day.

he got into someones account   did not change anything.  sent me a pm  like this

"hey buddy  loan me .5 btc I will pay back in a week"

I sent a pm back  ask him to  remind me of the btc addy I sent to him last time.

I then called the guy as the account hacked belongs to someone I know really well. I have been to his home had dinner with his family did a lot of sales with him. etc

He said WTF?  went to his account  here and  altered his simple password like 12345  to

!@#qweASDfuckyouhackers

so to anyone with a simple password   make it not simple!

The hacker was smart he did not lift the account  and change the password  . He must have read the pms and saw we did a lot of sales and deals .

So no notification of a password change to warn anyone .  He then took a shot that I would just send to him.

Good thing it I caught as he may try to do this.

A password like 12345 don't need to be hacked, you can simply type 12345. What's to be hacked?

Using a password like that is like using no password.

how do you guys shut down the miner software to reboot windows ?...everytime i close it it resets wattman to the general settings ?

You probably have Afterburner installed as well on that machine Tongue If yes, there's your answer.

Vega works good with win7 with non-blockchain drivers, e.g. 17.8.2 or 17.9.1
For blockchain drivers to work you need win10

Of course, you just need to make sure the CrossFire option is disabled before starting the miner. There is a switch under AMD Settings > Global Settings.

Ok thank you ! unfortunately disabling crossfire didn't help in my case, that's why I didn't notice it was the solution for you guys !

In my case, adding a vega 56 to my single vega 64 1800h/s rig (still 4gb) is a pain ..
I got the artifacts problem, and no way to make them both work.

Tried to clean with AMD DDU got it worse, as now each time I install blockchain drivers , amd settings/wattman is missing ...
Then trying a WHQL driver, with the Vega 64 alone again to at least come back to a one working gpus instead of none. The WHQL seems to have recovered the wattman, but these drivers doesn't work as weel as blockchain ones.
Now try to reinstall blockchain driver again over whql to see if wattman come back.
Edit : it worked, back to 1800h/s.
Edit2: finally got it both working. As said previously, you have to disable crossfire, move the HBCC switch or slider, and probably decrease powerlimit before trying mining. (any fault lead to a crash and you have to re enter all settings)
In my case, -30 to -40% powerlimit because the 750w corsair PSU seems too weak for 2 vegas gpus !

This fixed the problem for me. While 17.9.1 does not have crossfire switch, blockchain drivers do and are enabled by default. On my 2x vega rig, the pc instantly crashes if mining starts with CF enabled.

Is there any speed difference between the two kinds of drivers?

After a week of testing here are my results.

Blockchain drivers.
6xVega 64
memclock 1025
mem voltage 950
coreclock 1000
core voltage 950
power limit seems to have almost no effect with these settings.  Between 0 and -10 I saw no change in power consumption.
HBCC enabled, max for all cards.
Fan speed is ~3200RPM.  The cards in the middle of the rig run hotter and therefore the fan hits ~3400RPM.  The temps sit stables ~66C.

I use Claymore to quickly enable these settings on all cards in case Wattman crashes and restores all to default (screw AMD Wattman crappy interface).

I only have 8GB of System Memory but 64GB of Virtual Memory so I can still use HBCC apparently.  When I am mining with 2016+1600 intensity on 6 cards I use up ~56GB of virtual memory.

I am getting 1950H per card, total 11700H.  At my Kill-O-Watt meter I read 1450W.  Idle is 300W.  Clearly I can do better power wise but I am not sure how.

Every now and then one card drops down and I have to disable/enable HBCC on every card, this has only happened once in the past week.

The pool I am using reflects these numbers, after a week I am seeing on average slightly higher than 11700.

Hopefully this helps others.  All for sharing information.  The virtual memory trick makes me think we might be able to bump up intensity even further.
