Thanks for this. I've been playing with the power settings with a Sapphire RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled and got 1990.7 H/s stable @ 0.875 VDDC. Couldn't get power draw at the wall because I need a kill-a-watt thing.

Highly doubt if it is stable.
One of my cards needs 910mV voltage (gpu-z) to run 1408/1100 stable, other can handle 900mV. If yours is stable - you are the silicon lottery winner ))

fair enough. I think if someone finds a solution, how to decrease the power limit without losing much efficiency, that should solve the heath issue, as I had noproblem with the underclocked cards at -24 with the normal driver. 

But not being able to do tweaks with the wattman on these blockchain drivers is bad. Hope they release another driver, but I seriously doubt it.

On Vega56, I use the Power Level at -20%, hash rate is stable at 1830, total system is at 560W (with 3 vega 56).

The more I read the more I want to stay away from Vega 64 Air cooled. More power or way more tweaks needed to reduce its consumption to have more ~100H/s for more 100$ seems not a great deal.

I assume you use the soft power tables to make your adjustments.  Curious which P states you set for core.  Just P6 and P7? All?  Is it the same as OldComer's where he adjusts 4,5,6,7 to be nearly the same.  How about for mem p states?  Just the last one?  OldComer doesn't appear to adjust voltages after reviewing his registry file.  Just P4,5,6,7 and Mem clock.  At least comparing the default soft pp for vega 64 with his.

I got it running at 1600x 2 . Getting 10k total.
Will push it more tomorrow, wanna see how stable that goes, as I am with 8GB RAM only.

A thing of note to our previous discussion with rednow: Monero seems to be using way less power, and cards are cooler. This is drawing now 1200W, and the hottest card is the unmodded one, but HMB2 is not that hot as it was with claymore's ETH miner. The difference here seems to be only 6-7C, not the 15+ as with claymore's miner.

Any idea how to safely keep track of temps, without the need to push buttons? GPU-Z indeed dropped my hashrate significantly.

Hello guys, building a 6xVega XMR mining rig, need some advice.
Parts:
Asrock H81 Pro BTC R2.0
Intel Celeron G1840 (can't get cheaper CPU)
16GB DDR3 RAM, I already have this
250GB SSD

My problem is Vega 64 and 56 are the same price (600 euros). Should I buy 64s or 56s?
Is there any point in buying a Ryzen CPU instead and have it mine as well?

I wouldn't go with 6 Vega now, to many problems can be. 4 Vega+something else (Nvidia for example) should be fine

See (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2201970.0).  In short, it seems we cannot easily enable HBCC on more than 4 cards.   I had it working on all 6 at once point, rebooted, never been able to get back.  Read the first post, I've tried everything short of nuking Windows entirely.  Others are reporting the same issues.  

What I wouldn't do for some trick to avoid having to disable/enable HBCC on every card after reboot to get 1900+H XMR.  

Also, regarding the power table mods.  OLDComer's mod works on 4/6 Vega64's I have.  The same two cards I cannot enable HBCC on also seem to ignore the power table registry settings entirely.  Likely a clue there but I am not sure what.  

I have a similar issue, my setup - 1x vega 64air and 1x vega 64water, windows 10 pro64bit, 4gb ram. With oldcomers mod the water vega works great but with the air windows will not even boot. I have tried them together and separate and I get the same result. Could it be my vega 64air bios?? When I apply Oldcomers mod the air card installed by itself it just ignores the registry values from the mod.

It still running in the same session and I don't see any speed fluctuations, it seems stable. As a matter of fact the pool is reflecting my hashrate very well too. Try lowering the HBM voltage to the same voltage as Vega 56 version. I think this is what did the trick.

I was asked by Hellae to try mining Monero on my new Threadripper 1950X + 4x Vega FE build. Well, I'm new to mining in general and probably am missing some optimizations, but here's a screenshot of xmr-stack-amd mining on the 4 Vega cards only:

I read earlier in the thread about needing to enable HBCC? The crappy thing is, Wattman is only installed with the intial release 17.6 Vega FE drivers from June 26th. Neither the blockchain drivers or RX Vega drivers include Wattman, so I don't have any of those options to change frequency, voltage, power, etc with the FEs unless I install the 17.6 drivers.

Any tips?

So you know, I'm jealous of your rig Wink

First things first... is your stak config setup with 2 threads per GPU? If not, check my guide at page 26. I use 2016+1600 on Vega 56. Vega 64 has been using 2016+1800. Start with that.
With 4 gpus you'll have 8 threads. That will give you a slight boost too.

Also, I'm not even a noob on CPU mining. It's something I never did. If someone here could help him out setting the threadripper to do 1280H/s that would be cool Smiley

Yep, I got HBCC enabled and with the slider set to max (80-something GB) my hash rate hit almost 6500 H/s with the four Vegas. I haven't tested the 1950X yet... its temps reach almost 70 degrees with the Corsair H100i v2 so I'm waiting to test anything else on that until I get it into my water cooling loop.

I didn't monitor my temps while running the miner, but when maxed out during the LuxMark stress test, the core temps stabilize in the high 50s with the HBM2 and "hot spot" reaching high 60s. This is on watercooling with only 2 280mm rads -- I hope the temps will come down after I added another 280+120 rads. Even now, I'm not hitting any thermal throttling so my 1602 Mhz clock is solid after a slight power budget increase.

So I followed the instruction of Hellae (thanks!) but my vega 56 only get 1200h/s. Here is the screen shot.

I got only one card, win 10 64 pro. but my cpu is weak, j1800 and only 4GB ram. I do not have hbcc slider but i can enable or disable it and it is set to something like 9600MB.

If I'm not mistaken, intensity directly correlates to Vram usage. Since Vega FE has 16GB, he might be able to further raise intensity, or run extra threads as long as he's not core limited.

Yes, since it is the double of a Vega 64, I'd also try 4 threads per card. 2016+2016+1600+1600 to start.

True HBM2 voltage can be changed only via bios - it is 1.25 for Vega56 and 1.3+ (don't remember exactly) for Vega64. So called memory voltage in Wattman and OverdriveNtool memory profiles can be either mem controller voltage or some other staff voltage or even can mean nothing ))

No idea what the mem voltage does in that software.  I think vega 64 bumps voltage up to 1.35v.  I would be careful doing that though and make sure you get more than adequate cooling.

edit:  had some time to tinker, and got it working with the blockchain drivers.  very nice speeds, very nice wattage.  just a reminder that your platform isnt necessary 0 or 1 Smiley

I have intel and nvidia and amd gpus - so my platform in xmr-stak-amd config is 2.

I'm using latest hwinfo64 beta for monitoring, but I was needed to disable GPU I2C support in HWINFO settings. It works fine without it.
With this setting enabled one of my cards was starting fan on max speed and hangs so only full power off and then reboot helped.
