Hello everyboby

Is there any guide for noob in programming to compile from github source to windows exe? I need in https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak-amd change one file and then compile exe. I tried visual studio, added files to project, but I have got errors during compiling. As you know it is 1% fee for default, to change it I need to edit file in source code and then compile it.

Thank you.

Not a good idea to leave the developer without fee. So I hope nobody will help you. Train your skills in programming and compiling ...

This is just surprisingly strange (in good way  Grin), but I have no idea what is going on.

So on my test rig, there is only 4gb memory and I can only reach 1300 h/s on my vega 56. Today I tested it on another box and it reached 1800 h/s and I was very happy. But I cannot let it running long on this box coz it is just so noisy so I put it back to the old rig. After setting up wattman and starting the runner, I pressed h to see the hashrate. It is 1900 h/s and it is stable! I did not change anything! Still this rig has only 4g memory.

Anyone can explain this? Thanks.

Monitor attached to the GPU  both times? Vega has this quirk that when monitor is attached it works faster

I used iGpu from cpu all the time so I do not think it is the monitor.

Agreed - especially since he can't compile the shit without help. Although the dev of xmr-stak-amd does kinda irk me, as he ripped off my AMD OCL for CryptoNight.
Do you have any Vega gpus, Wolf? What is you best speed with it? Did you try 16gb Frontier? Guess it should do 2.5kh/s with proper miner and drivers.

but,my vega's VDDC much higher than yours.Why?Huh I had set VCore 900mV,GPU-Z show 1.00V.

I made it work on 5 it seems : http://prntscr.com/grm9ed

upped the virtual ram to 80. Disabled On board graphics , connected Monitor  with HDMI to GPU0.
Without Team Viewer going the hashrate is slightly higher - around 10500.
Only 4 cards accepted some change on the slider. The 5th had HBCC on, and on/off was not doing anything. On the 6th one HBCC was disabled. It was not even possible to enable it.

Sadly ... that lasted only until the first restart.
After it - we are back to 4. And I can't get em to apply any HBCC settings on at least 3 cards.

I wasn't even able to boot with 6 Vega as it would BSOD on driver install for the 6th card. I could get 5 hashing but similar results as you. 5th card has an HBCC slider but changes had no effect.

I have the same situation.  I can't get HBCC to activate on more than 4 cards.  The sliders work for all but there's no effect for anything over 4 cards.

I see this same issue even if the other cards are not vega, as soon as I add a 5th amd card I lose hbcc control on all. I wonder if it requires more ram or virtual memory? I’m running 2x Vega 56 and 2x580 and shits the bed when adding a 470 to the mix. I have 16gb ram and 48gb virtual. Hbcc would display as on, but hash rates show it’s not really on.
Same problem here. Thought is was due to adding the Vega as latest GPU to my rig with 9 GPUs. Removed all the other GPUs and the Vega gets 1770H/s when HBCC activated. Adding the other cards one by one after the 4th the Vega doesn't perform as before and even the AMD Blockchain Driver starts crashing.
Hope anybody has an idea to fix this or we need to wait for a driver update.

fix is to use 4 vega + 4(5) nvidia cards in one rig )))
4 vega + 4 gtx1080ti should be nice ))

Spent 5 minutes switching over to xmr today before I had to go in to work for a bit. First attempt and it doesn't appear my mem clock set in .reg edit.
But it was doing 1700 per card at 140 watts at the wall.

Hopefully will have more time to tinker tonight

So, at last I grab my new Vega56, flashed it with liquid bios and apply the same patch I used with my pure Liquid Vegas.
But I decided to clock mem for vega56 to 1090 instead of 1100 as it has not so good cooling as liquid.
Screen bellow, vega56 is running first 2 threads in miner, in hwinfo64 vega56 is the last card.
For Liquid Vegas I set a little bit higher voltage as they run xmr-stak with more intensity (to be sure stable).

I have 2 x Vega 56s running Blockchain drivers. Stock BIOS and just slider config posted previously. Decent hashrate I think compared to the 56s flashed with 64 bios.

Where do you guy have your Monero wallet to mine with XMR?  wich one you use?  Trezor or Ledger Nano doesn't seem to support it (?).  I'm use to mining with the NiceHashMinerLegacy, but I think it is more profitable mining the Monero with XMR directly to a pool ? (Also, what pool you all use?)  I have my Vega 64 Air waiting for my new PSU to arrive (long wait of 8 days...).  Hoping to get those answer before Smiley

Also, what you guys think about the AlphaCool AIO kit for Vega?  There is also the the EKWB waterblock, but it's more complex to do for me (never did watercooling!) I might convert it to Water if there is any Hashrate benefits.

Anyone to #876? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2002025.msg22416116#msg22416116
Or a proper config file (GPU parameters) for multi threading xmr stak?

Thank you!

Or a proper config file (GPU parameters) for multi threading xmr stak?

Thank you!

There is a guide out there somewhere but here is how I do it for 2 Vegas in config.txt.

2 x Vega 56
GPU 0: memclock 925Mhz, GPU Frequency -30%, -20 power
GPU 1: memclock 920Mhz, GPU Frequency -30%, -20 power

Always 2 threads per card.

Quote
/*
 * Number of GPUs that you have in your system. Each GPU will get its own CPU thread.
 */
"gpu_thread_num" : 4,

Then index it, 2 per number starting with 0 for number of cards

Quote
/*
 * GPU configuration. You should play around with intensity and worksize as the fastest settings will vary.
 *      index    - GPU index number usually starts from 0
 *  intensity    - Number of parallel GPU threads (nothing to do with CPU threads)
 *   worksize    - Number of local GPU threads (nothing to do with CPU threads)
 * affine_to_cpu - This will affine the thread to a CPU. This can make a GPU miner play along nicer with a CPU miner.
 */
"gpu_threads_conf" : [
   { "index" : 0, "intensity" : 2016, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
   { "index" : 0, "intensity" : 1600, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
   { "index" : 1, "intensity" : 2016, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
   { "index" : 1, "intensity" : 1600, "worksize" : 8, "affine_to_cpu" : false },

$20 he was involved in the development of an AMD component in some way shape or form and signed a NDA...

nope...he has just developed mods for Vega on linux side that allow timing/volt mods that allow same kind of speedups you see with BIOS mods for polaris etc, and his big clients don't want anyone else using them Wink

Im doing the same stuff, pretty much just modified drivers to do the stuff BIOS mods did (since you can no longer BIOS mod vega with its security chip). Just injects the voltages and timings during runtime instead (kinda like what windows guys are doing with registry edits).

If i wasn't so busy with my USB asic id probably release a how to guide...the changes are pretty straight forward, and you just need to recompile the linux kernel.

Maybe wolf's overlords want to gag me too? Wink
