Anyone has any FEs here? How's your experience?
(and yeah... now I know it was really poor investment on my part)
I'm getting really weird behavior with both existing drivers: it barely holds its mem clock, slight decrease in voltage or whatever changes I introduce makes it hang or in the best case hugely underperform.
Any thoughts/advice, besides "through this beautiful piece of crap into garbage"
You can send it to me so I can try to get all shit from it ))) (you will free your garbage bucket space)

Does any protocol need 16gb of memory, I cant think anything that is coming close to that requirement or you might have some great advantage tp go forward with.   Increase the HBCC tons?   I dont know, I dont think that alters that usage exactly.   I read a few different forums so I'll post if I see anything but you might be better off selling it or at least advertising then buying the cheaper Vega that come out closer to xmas perhaps

In wattman i notice one thing, on the second card I can't go upper that 920Mhz for the memory. ( but the first one handle the 950Mhz).
Do you think is a GPU default?

The 56 bios limits volts to memory.   Apparently all thats needed is to swap on the 64 bios and it then allows higher volts, now you can get the same speed HBM as 64 ?   I'm not sure if 56 is really as high quality, if not its close

Thanks man, I'd appreciate any info. At this point I'm inquiring on the ways of returning FEs to the shop I got it from. will see how it goes...
Part of the plan was to use it for research purposes, but with this crazy price tag and not being able to mine properly and thus getting some ROI now is a bummer.

I have 3 paper-Vega in my rig doing rather well with XMR ))
Now imagine that there will be a lot of non-ref Vegas 56 with custom bioses. It would be hell to  find suitable Vega 64 bios to boost them ))

Finally got the FE installed next to the 64 air.  I'm having some issues if anyone can help.
1. If I turn on hbcc for the FE it isn't recognized by xmr-stak.
2. Any suggestions for config settings?

I turned up memory clock to 1100, but haven't gotten to mess with it much.  64 is getting 1950+ FE is getting 1400ish.

Any suggestions?

This is exactly what I did, somehow Newegg agreed to a instore credit with a 100 restocking fee, and picked up two vega 56s for the same price  Grin

Vega FE is a joke and the 64s/56s use the EXACT same pcb and die. Even it's double stacked HBM memory is worse ( upper stacks actually use separate slower timings). Unless you can use the 16GB it's a waste of money.

Yeah. I'm struggling with FEs as well. My workers are also quite remote, so that complicates things... like now: my FEs just hanged the machine (watchdogs have not yet arrived) after two of those were running latest Claymore XMR ... Smiley possibly 750W PSU wasn't enough for these beasts on stock...

Tell me though did you try to switch to "Gaming mode" it's supposed to be somewhere there...

I read awhile back there was a gaming mode, but I can't find it, but I'm not very smart.  Wish I had more time to mess with it.

Best results so far for a V56: 1950-1975h/s @ 130-135w

1. Use stock bios

2. Use the custom power play table: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AsrdFd4FVQj_hU0lNZqgJaGeLffI

3. In Wattman, set voltages to manual, fan speed to at least 3000 (this might not be necessary), and OC mem to 975.

4. Use intensities 2016 and 1736

If this got you your highest hash/watts.. feel welcome to donate to my XMR address: 4JUdGzvrMFDWrUUwY3toJATSeNwjn54LkCnKBPRzDuhzi5vSepHfUckJNxRL2gjkNrSqtCoRUrEDAgR wsQvVCjZbRzX7Z35FpEg29UmnBp

foundational work credit goes to hellae but I optimized it a bit more than his latest recommended setup: https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/74hjqn/monero_and_vega_the_definitive_guide/?sort=new

Vega can do ~4000h/s cryptonight-lite.
I managed to compile xmr-stak-amd for it. Or you can find ready windows build on github with 1% fee.

2 Truthchanter
For cryptonight 900+ mem speed can be enough but for eth you'll need 1100 and Vega64 bios

It's there, but only in "full" driver. As far as I can see there're only two drivers available and the latter one(beta) has no such mode.
I'm not entirely sure if it does anything, but so far it does ~30 eth, which is complete bs. also system hangs on restart are frequent when playing around with clocks and volts.

Picked up my 4th 64 today (craigslist in my area has some real cheap cards). I guess that finishes off that rig.

How low are y'all pushing core clocks?

All four cards right around 1960 h/s at 150watt/card from the wall.

Red, did you switch over to aeon? That looks to be a fairly good profit.

Nice!  Shocked Shocked So Aeon is even more profitable than Monero.
I am gonna try to compile the algo with stak too.

On another note...
i tried flashing my vegas 56 with the 64 bios and i am having troubles with the reg files for powerplay from @Hellae. None of them works.. windows wont boot / green screen and then fans starts to spin like crazy. Any suggestions what may be wrong?

I have it currently running without the undervolt which is pita (vdcc 1.1V). Its doing ~1700H/s per card.
My gfxs are Sapphire 56 (1.6Gbps) versions.

What about frquency settings in wattman? What voltages should I exactly set in wattman?
also in your .reg file title it says vega64, do I need to use 64 BIOS for this or did you mix something up vega 56/64 naming?
Thanks for your effort

I hope I found why my XMR speed was dropping every day.
I examine logs and found that speed drop occurs at 12:25.
Then I went to Windows Task Scheduler and found 2 nVidia tasks scheduled for this time (nvidia profile updater and some telemetry shit)
I have mixed Vegas + nVidia rig so this was added by nVidia driver.
Now I disabled it ... will see ))

So examine carefully your energy saving settings (everything must be full on) and other software that can bug HBCC.
