Fresh.

Hopefully it's not the same questions over and over.  Most all questions have been answered in the previous 4 threads.

Well so many  newbies  came by  in thread 4.  I answered the same questions  many times.  PM's were crazy.

For me this thread is more about waiting and prepping  for the future.
Learn to sit and take deep breath  look for a good move.

If you did not make any money during the bull run  we just had I am sorry.  But making money in hard times is possible.

Little bit of mining, little bit of speculating,  whatever works!

I personally speculated on HUSH.  Has worked out pretty well so far.  Hopefully there's a little left in the tank.

subbed.

Yes, Definitely a wave of new people and the same questions over and over again.... Was quite a ride especially as profitability spiraled downwards.

My main curiosity is:  Are the whales and bigger fish going to pull out of the alt to consolidate or exchange to fiat during the wave the fork will cause?

Or....

Will it be the opposite, seeing alts surge at the last minute right before BTC does its transition?

I'm also wondering what the bubble is going to be like when the waves of mining/deep learning GPU's will hit the market in the next years time....  will it be more of a pop or a growing one?

Well my thoughts are this Nvidia is positioning to be the king of gpu mining.
They have much deeper pockets then AMD.

The 1080 ti is a ZEC killer and at the moment I type  Zec is ranked at 14 for coins
I see a big upside for ZEC

Ya, i agree that Nvidia may take over on the GPU mining, just hope the market doesnt dry up like the AMD side did....
today was a rare double pay day... maybe triple at the rate of return on coins at the current moment.. Equihash has been super for me today..

Ive been trying to form a opinion on the bitcoin thing..

Currently everyone youtubers, blogs etc have been telling everyone that bitcoin is going to take a big hit in price.  This means that people have been preparing selling off their coins and putting new capital into their trading account preparing for the big day.

I don't like to follow the general opinion of the masses and when they say to do something, then do the opposite.

The sell offs have already happened and once the green light that everything is ok that could start a pump in the market, from coins already sold off to brand new capital that will want to get in.  The positive outlook and news articles will state that segwit was a success and this could ignite a further bull run for a while.  Then 2 months down the line people will realize that bitcoin will be hard forking to 2mb block which creates fear and sell offs that a possible split could happen (again).  Then once the hard fork happens we will be back into another bull run for the new season.

My guess is that we will get SegWit, and then the fork to get 2x blocks will NOT happen.

Well I timed everything okay. I sold off all my rx 480's too early to make a killing on them. But  I got 1070's and 1080 ti's

I sold off all my 1070's and did really well selling them.

So I have 10  1080 ti's

8 are fully Roi'd
2 new 1080 ti's  will be paid of in under 100 days since 8 of the 1080 ti's are in the solar array  earning me  12 bucks a day with no power cost.

All my asics have been paid off Since January .

All mobos and psu's ram cpus paid off.

I sold enough coins to have cash to buy coins .

I still am holding coins.

I am finally in a spot of mining since summer of 2012  that I can sit and wait for a good deal . No pressure  or worry.

I am playing the coins to go up to go down or to stay the same and all three ways I would profit.

If it is all flat mining will earn for me.  coins I held will  thread water
If it jumps up mining will earn for me . coins I held will gain in value.

it it crashes I sold enough to be ahead . I could fire sale all my gear and  even though it is 25k in gear.  If I sold at 5 or 6k   Since I am paid off  that would be more profit.

I have never been in this spot before. pretty nice. Grin

Now it is still small scale due to power and heat limits.  Under 40k .

but i will take it.

1080 ti prices are drifting up on eBay.  maybe they go to 800 and 900 a piece.

If they do I may end up selling off my 1080 ti's Amazing.

New 1080 ti's are hard to find

Amazon has no 1080 ti in stock for under 749
newegg has the pny for 709
eBay has not one  1080 ti under 719
best buy has an evga for 759
provantage is sold out.
bhphoto has a 709 asus
frys has a 709 asus
micro center has a decent amount but it is a 150 mile round trip for me.

http://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?Ntt=nvidia+1080+ti

if these cards sell out .

the 1080 ti's may all go to resellers and miners.

I could sell my cards off.

just sit on coins.

This is a time to wait for me.

My guess is that we will get SegWit, and then the fork to get 2x blocks will NOT happen.

https://themerkle.com/segwit2x-miners-accidentally-fork-bitcoin-testnet/

Core devs have said that Segwit2X is not ready for deployment yet. This is what happens when nobody listens.
No need to rush, Segwit in 2018, Lightning in 2020.

New 1080 ti's are hard to find

This could be an awkward situation... what do people do if all the "normal" priced GPUs are sold out or extremely difficult to get?  I mean, I'm sure we'll get half a dozen threads asking where people are buying GPUs.  People are already desperate and buying RX 550s and 1050s now.

the price for 1070s and 1080ti's have been raised by ~ 15% in the past days even at major wholesalers - not sure if they just want to make more money or if the manufacturers already raised their prices for wholesalers.

I think 1070 is good for mining both the ETH and ZEC. So it is more demanded.

Mining ETH direct with Nvidia is just a waste of hash power, you can mine other coins much better, sell them and buy ETH with it - you get more ETH out of that if you invest some time in research on Nvidia coins Smiley
Just ZEC can be mined directly quiet good.
