Buy the fear.....

Blast off is near....

Technically Bitcoin is a fork and Bitcoin Cash is the original blockchain. When the hard fork occurred, people had access to the same amount of coins on Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.- NIST

Lots of trolling on this thread, its a shame. Although only what I expect I suppose, pump n dumpers trying to exaggerate the dump. I'm still hodling bitcoin cash on dips like this feel I might buy a bit to rebalance the old portfolio, won't be selling thats for sure. Is there  a reason for the dip? As far as I can tell the network is ticking away quite happily.

I'm not a fan of Bitcoin Cash, but Ver and his cohorts have too much money at stake. They aren't going to let Bitcoin Cash die. They'll probably let it drop as low as possible before they buy. It looks like the new hard forks of Bitcoin are a huge threat to Bitcoin Cash. As a matter of fact, I'm actually looking forward to Bitcoin Gold. I plan on holding some of that. It may not do too well early on, but I have a feeling that in the next 3-6 months, it will potentially become a top 10 coin. Where that leaves CASH, I don't know, but it definitely doesn't bode well for Bitcoin Cash.

Now instead of constantly putting out FUD about BTC, Ver is going to have his work cut out for him trying to spread FUD about all of the hard forks as well as BTC. The solution, hold BTC, there is no way Bitcoin Cash will replace BTC. As a matter of fact, Segwit2X and Bitcoin Gold might end up beating out Bitcoin Cash.

Incidentally, I have kept dry powder that I am now using to BTF'nD. Fundamentals are still aligned. BCH is the rightful ultimate heir. This will become even more clear after the S1X vs S2X circular firing squad.

Bcash's address format is broken but nobody can agree on how to fix it (Bech32 is provably ideal for UX, but it was made by Evil Blockstream Grin).

Bcash's Emergency Difficulty Adjustment has effectively become a Permanent Downward Difficulty Adjustment, allowing miners to exploit a loophole and creating a terrible UX.

Bcash's devs are bickering among themselves and becoming less effective at the exact moment they most need to work together.

I expect your motley crew of malcontents will fracture into Bcash Classic, Bcash Unlimited, Satoshi's Bcash, and Bcash2X.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

After you spend your last real Bitcoin on fake ones, will you keep posting here or will you fork off in silence to join cypherdoc and the other bitco.in failures in the extinct big blocker graveyard?

Well, iCEBREAKER, you are an inveterate dickish troll. But I also know you to be seemingly quite intelligent and knowledgable. So with that as a preface, I am going to ask...

This is the first I have heard about some flaw in Bitcoin Cash's address format. Where can I find a factual description thereof?

What a nice thing to say about me.  I'm flattered!  Embarrassed

It's astonishing and hilarious that you are burning the last of your "dry powder" on Altcoin Cash even as you lack the basic familiarity with the local terrain required to perform due diligence on such a brave investment.

Here, I'll do your homework for you.  But before the final exam you need to master the material yourself!  Wink

25 days ago:

BCH users are sending own money into BCH-SegWit addresses 😂 this is invalid and their money is mostly lost. So they will beg the Miner-Kings to return funds 😂. Also, karma is a BitCH (👩🐶) - all could be avoided if BitcoinCash would use custom address prefix instead of pretending to be the Bitcoin.
https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/6z56x3/attention_benevolent_bch_miners_a_bch/?sort=controversial

Background

In the short while since segwit activated on the BTC network and segwit addresses even-more-recently became the default for receiving BTC in the Trezor wallet - and perhaps other wallets too (soon?) - people have started accidentally sending their BCH to BTC-segwit addresses.

Due to the fact(s) that...

a) the BCH network supports P2SH (i.e. addresses starting with 3), but not segwit

... and ...

b) the sending wallets thus have no way of knowing that P2SH-wrapped segwit addresses really are "hiding" a segwit redeemscript

... there's currently no way to prevent this, and it will continue happening.

Examples

(These are just the ones that I've noticed, but I'm sure there are many more that go straight to the various wallet service providers' support teams instead of via Reddit.)

    https://np.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6sfnl2/segwit_has_been_locked_in_congratulations_everyone/dlvkhsi/

To add insult to injury, the unlucky BCH owners are routinely told that there's no way to recover the coins (including by myself at the start) due to BCH not supporting segwit. And while that's currently true, it is ultimately only a half-truth.

After all, segwit opponents have often said that the satoshis in segwit addresses would be "anyone-can-spend" if the miners didn't enforce the segwit rules (i.e. ensuring that there's a proper witness/signature in the "segregated" part of the txs).

And on the BCH network the segwit rules aren't being enforced!

While this excellent comment passed unnoticed, trolls keep polluting this thread, it's a shame, so true.

https://ftalphaville.ft.com/2017/10/05/2194474/crypto-apple-dealer-attempts-to-avoid-us-regulators/

Noted crypto-securitisation shop LA Token says it won’t sell more tokens to US investors.

The announcement is intriguingly timed, to say the least — just a few days after the SEC charged two ICOs with fraud!

The regulator got an emergency court order to freeze the assets of Maksim Zaslavskiy, after it found he and his companies “have been selling unregistered securities, and the digital tokens or coins being peddled don’t really exist.” From the SEC’s release:

Zaslavskiy allegedly touted REcoin as “The First Ever Cryptocurrency Backed by Real Estate.” Alleged misstatements to REcoin investors included that the company had a “team of lawyers, professionals, brokers, and accountants” that would invest REcoin’s ICO proceeds into real estate when in fact none had been hired or even consulted.

LA Token also says it has plans to “tokenise” — meaning securitise — real estate. Weird! It says it’s already issued crypto-denominated securities based on Apple shares.

And its current US investors can still use its platform, according to LA Token:

The following changes apply only to the new contributions. Our early contributors can still use their LAT to pay for future transactions such as assets tokenization at the LAT platform and convert LAT into other cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin or Ether.

Now, it’s not clear that anyone is actually using the platform anyway.

The “trade history” says a total of 92 tokens traded on Wednesday, the equivalent of 92 Europe-listed shares of Apple. For context, 20.1m shares of Apple’s real US-listed stock traded on Wednesday, according to Reuters.

This all comes after the company went through a rather dizzying series of changes regarding its US investors. First they didn’t have any stated rules about it. Then we asked them, and they rather quickly turned around and said US investors couldn’t participate. Then they said their tokens were actually just utility coins, for “future platform usage such as assets tokenization”.

Of course, there’s no clear explanation of the way crypto-securities purchases would fit into the “utility token” framework. (As far as we can tell, the point of that distinction is to make sure crypto is not used for securities purchases.)

The company says “they hedge they [sic] bets by closing the sales to US citizens and residents. LAToken follows the trend.”
